Gents

Can everyone please be helpful and post up what you think are some of the best painted single Ogre miniatures in the Strongholds history?

Just direct links will be great.

Thanks in advance.

Zolas and his Hunter;

Page 5 half way down. I can't stress how much I love the subtle painting of this model.

I will seek more models (though RJ's Orcogres will be in their somewhere I am sure)

Deadled and the Nippon Ogres;

I would say page 3 the guy with the white checked towel/ robe. Sheer patience along makes this a winner. (I like the first guy too though with the hat)

Moniker and the Tomb King maneater... pity there wasn't more from this member because I loved their work.

I also liked the Firebelly looking dwarf guy on page one, but for me the TK maneater took the win. I got allot of inspiration from this Gnoblog (as short as it was) to use greenstuff more.

Jimmy's Hunter page 13 of Mcthunder... gnoblog.

Sorry if you don't like it Jim, but me, Connor and Josh actually argued allot about this as we judged the Hunter comp. More than a few PM's were passed back and forth about how good this guy was. I think he should be in there and I know that Connor and Josh would back me up on that!

I would love to nominate some of Kyte's work as I vaguely remember there being some amazing sculpting of ogre characters there...but it's so long ago that allot of the pictures have been removed.

Still, if there is still an ogre in there somewhere then they were all pretty good.

Before I post up anymore; is this the sort of thing you are looking for Jimmy?

G_H
Indeed.  Feel free to help out other forum members.  :)

My vote is going to go to Randroid for his very Dynamic ogre from the paint and trade event.  Now in the Hands of our very own Gnoblar_Herder who I know is very happy with the model.

I personally love this model amazing pose and conversions to make a really cool ogre.

You can find him here:-

I have him and in all honesty I would be really happy if he enters the hall of fame; he really is an amazing model. If it would help having another picture of him to put in the HoF then I can take one and throw in a link to it. He is an amazing model so I would heartily agree that he should be in there.

(but I would look like a total dick if I nominated models that I own...hence why I didn't nominate him.)

Good models are not just about paint and green stuff.  In my book one of the model important things is pose/stance/dynamics.  Even if this can be achieved with simple kit bashing I will always love it.  Your model has an amazing pose that really brings him out from the standard ogre line.  This just makes it for me!

So I'm very happy to nominate him.  :D

Kind regards Zolas

I agree... even if I don't put a ton of effort into converting a mini I am always trying to make their pose look unique and exciting. I find it helps with such a visual medium to set the mood and help tell a story.
