hi guys, especially at BluBlu and his very nice arabian army ! my gnoblogs is open ! i just want to say, i'm french and not a specialist in english so don't throws stones i choose a persian theme for my army, exactly "1001 nights" and each heros and champion will be extract from one of these tales (if i manage to do that )
in first time iwant to post my first army list :
in France, we play "light" and my army is make up by the minis i prefer
Tyrant : Tenderiser + Heavy armour + long strider + Wyrdstone necklace + Luck gnoblar Hunter : long strider + 2 sabre tusks Butcher : bangstick + dispel scroll (with the maneater or in 3 ironguts) Butcher : skullmantle + dispel scroll (in 4or 3 ironguts)
2 Lead belchers + bellower 2 Lead belchers + bellower
1 Maneater : Cathayan Longsword (or great weapon) + Heavy Armor(with the butcher 1 or in solo like a 5st hero, sometimes he joins the tyrant, behind him for the tenacious) 1 bull rhinox : heavy armor + ironfist + bellower i'm not sure about the utility of the 3rd butchers, what do you think ? my list could change because i need more gnoblards to make Ali baba and the 40 thieves

Are you using the carpets as trappers? They're super hilarious. And how did you make or where did you get the elephants? The whole army is really cool. It is has a great comic feel without being overdone.

i made it in greenstuff, it's relatively easy, i had more difficulty with the turban for the iron guts i want make different jellaba
my tyran is Aladdin, on a flying carpet (real this time ) for long strider, his lamp and the genius (a gnoblard who left the lamp, in fact the luck gnoblard)

How did you do the sand bases?
Simply first i take a tiling glue and distemper it on the base. in second i sprinkle this glu with natural sand. And after, i paint it, making some Brush and wash.
About my base, do you think that i must paint the different side in sand color or in black ?

If you mean the edges of the bases: paint them in a sand color, hat enhances the theme much better then black
As I'm the last poster, I'll ask the question in this post: How did you do the lighting effect on the Leadbelcher? Did you start with red on the furthest parts and then more orange and yellow to the parts closer to the fire?

yes it's exactly like that , and i finished with skull white.

Wow, awesome unit bullwai. I think in a unit you'd want a little color variation (as the pots are the focus of the models, so you don't want them to be boring). Maybe some stripes or squiggly lines, or simply other colors from the red/brown family.

It looks great. The trapper pots look like they're dipped (no problem with that though).
The sash is pretty good, though more creases would make it even better.

Great resurrection. The genie is awesome (and the lions look really good). Have you thought about stippling the base of the genie cloud? It will simulate the genie being formed out of sand (I think that's what you are going for), without looking as cheesey as gluing sand to the thing.

That is what makes a Gnoblog a Gnoblog. You control it (can admin it), and its immune to Threadomancy lock down.

the theme of this unit is about the hunter and the trappers who 's hiding :
2nd Unit trappers WIP :
this men were not resculpted, just the turban
3 trappers hiding, one behind a "palmier", the 2nd with the head in the sand and the last in a carpet (i 'll make a freehand tomorrow)
the hunter with falcon and the trappers with a lamp (no génie of course)
And after that, i post the beginning of my 2 scrapalauncha, i want your comments about them

Ok, now I've seen scrappies made from Dinosaurs, Mammoths and Dragons, and now Elephants? Wow, it seems Ogres can suit any environment!

Just adjust the brightness of the pictures in your pic editing software (microsoft pictureviewer or something) and maybe up the contrast if it darkens it too much!
I love the scraplancuher idea! Still not keen on the elephant in fantasy but that my opinion!

i want to know what you think about my army list
Tyran heavy armour, heavy weapon, luck gnoblard, BOH, greyback pelt, beastkiller, gut maw, wirdstone nec klace;
the tourney limitations are : 3 same choices in core 2 same choices in spécial no same choice in rare
the fistfull of laurels butcher goes in Maneaters and gives 3 magical attack VS etheral créatures.
Actually, i'd played this list 3rd time : - versus a Vampire count, and i'd killed the lord in 2nd turn with my tyran (major Win) - versus a High Elf, after the 2nd turn the 2 scrapalauncha exploded but my trappers had killed the forrestman the eagles adn a chariot with lions , (major win) - versus a Tomb King, their magical phase was too much important, so they could charged with magically Move, it was hard, the man of the match : trappers, who kills the hierophant at the last turn (minor defeat )
What do you think about this list ?

I like the unit of Maneaters, as it is unconventional but maybe a little large!
Also you have four character modesl which is fine, but only two units of 3 Bulls and one unit of ironguts. I think you're likely better off getting rid of one character model (probably the Hunter) and adding another unit of Ironguts to the army!
Lots of Trappers! I like it...maybe if you lose the Hunter you might try out a Gorger? See what you think
Just suggestions, it might make the game play a little easier for you and it's my personal preference but gosh, try it and see don't just take my word for it

and finally, my gorger, based on the movie "300" (i used a body of skaven rat-ogre, i made his legs taller with greenstuff and i give to him a great coconuts in place of the guts, because the gorger had no guts !!! )

If it's the 1st paint : i used graveyard earth, after i'd go to white and darken with purple.
Actually i make 4 maneaters with lot of greenstuff and i begin to sculpt my Tyran, his flying carpet and his genius gnoblard

the bases are full of character and go very well with the theme of the army.
I would paint the sides in sand since the black seems to stand out quite a bit, but that is my personal opinion

Thanks Haakon_Redfang, that explained it! Bullwai, the sand looks good, and I like your plans for the additions - maybe if you paint a base with brown sand sides for us to compare? The black looks ok though!

Ogres with shirts on rarely look good, but these models can go without bare-chests. Very nice work. I like the scale pauldrons.

wow my tourney was finished, my results was 23rd with 96 players. i'm satisfied by my place.
first game was against a swiss player and his wood elf : i make mistake and i lose
2nd was against warrior of chaos (knight of slaanesh, dragon ogre, ...) i play better than the 1st and i won (men of the match : one unit of trappers who win against chaos hounds, and light cavalery of sllanesh in close combat)
3rd versus daemon : lost
4th versus Warrior of chaos (2 knight of nurgle, sigvald, festus , khorne exalted on jugger, sorcerer on disc, 2*19 warriors,....) : win (man of the match : my hunter who kill the exalted on jugger turn 1 with his baliste and finish one unit of knight in close)
5th again Warrior of chaos ( 5*20 maraudeurs of khorne and slaanesh , giant, canon apocalipse,....) : win (man of the match : my hunterwho kills 2 sorcerer and their unit of maraudeurs, one alone and one with my iron guts)
for the paint price, i finished 2nd, the 1st was fabio zeppetella with a great orc army (he win in paint the last french gt and the last uk gt)

Great work! I love your army man, especially the tyrant on flying carpet and the grand vizier!
Also, I like the way you painted the sides of the bases, they tie in all the army together.

As always, magnificent work. Each model must take you such a long time! The latest standard bearer looks wonderful, as the other posters said, the depth of paintwork on the banner is great. Your sculpting skills are wonderful too, the armour and sash are perfect! I always look forward to seeing your updates!

Very nice army!
This is such an original idea it should be added to the Armies section at the start of this website.
One tweak to the list might be champions instead of Bellowers on the Lead belchers.

What do you think about the shield ? I let them in red or change the color ? The carpets are now paint with freehands like Greasus.
I played a tourney with one special characters. I choose Graissus for the minis. It will be perfect in "Qualife"
I Had made 5 maneaters with additionnal weapons, like the others.

This army is full of win! And those Mourns are great. I'd definitley keep the shields red. They act as a nice contrast color between the blue and the grey skin of the rhinos.
Any chance we could get a full army shot of what you've got done? Pretty please?
Oh, and I'm in the process of starting an Arabyan-themed army, so I'll definitely be checking back here for some inspiration.

in this tourney, i won the paint price but it was very hard because 3 others were great, especially 2 dark elves. I post the links of the tourney pictures for you to see the incredible presentation plateau :
Great stuff! I wasn't sure about the theme at first - I thought it might be too 'fun' - but with all of the warbeasts the coherent scheme really makes this army looks wonderful on the tabletop. Especially against Lizardmen!
And I have to say that is the first version of Greasus I've seen that I thought looked like a proper Tyrant. Suitably opulent, and still packing a punch.
Question: Where did you get the elephants and rhinos from? I'd like to get something similar, but am never sure of the brand. Many of ebay don't specify the size.

Wow, this is a really great army. Great colours, and stunning conversions....not only the rhinos and the elephants, but also what you have done with the gnoblars. I wish I was that good at modeling....
