I'm especially anticipating the possible entries of Corai and Ikim. Corai seems to be the king of Ogre fluff here at the Stronghold, now let's see how well he can paint...

Sounds like a great idea Barabus. I have to ask too though, do we need to make a new tyrant and guards model or can we use existing ones? (Either way, I think this is an excuse to try scratch sculpting my Tyrant in a new pose ). Also, the three models have to come to no more than 500 points, can that be, for example a butcher, tyrant and a single bull? (or, dare I say it, a [particulalry characterful Gnoblar? ). I'm looking forward to getting into this!

FAQ
You can take old Tyrant that you made just have to make new picture of them and maybe fresh up your paint job if need be. I want this to represent a pre-stage for the full campaign coming this summer. The point of having 3 models is that 'if' they reach the 3 part 'its' those model that will be put within the Pit-fight arena. So yes you can have a gnoblar as a model, you can also have sword/luck gnoblar on your model as they will count toward equipment. Also will permit one gorgers orone yhetees if it represent the fluf of your army but I will ask that the last two be put on a 10 15 feet chain/control to enter the pit fight (we don't want them escaping in the crowd). The only weapon not allowed during the Pit-Fight will be the firing type (Handgun, Cannons, Bangstick, ect) since we want a bashing feast and not a shooting one. You can have them on your picture.. just not allowed upon your choice of 500 pts cost for the Pit-Fight.
The reason why I put the writing part after the painting was to give people that have less talent to be able to reach the 3 part of the contest. Having made the 20 best I thought it would be enough to move on... The bird picture view of your character is so that i can crop that picture and put them directly upon the map. If I see that the picture quality are to low for it ill simply avatar them on the map.
So far the dungeon plan is to be 165 feet x 220 feet for 30 Ogres. One Ogre taking 4 square of 5x5... I will also introduce different level for Ogres to jump from, traps that can be open by the order of the community when the number of Ogre is reduce during the fight, and, monsters doors; which contain monsters brought by the Chaos Dwarf that can be trigger if an Ogre step 5 feet from it. For roleplay reason your Tyrant will not die when he reach 0 wound instead he will be taken out of the arena and heal by Greasus Butchers (So you don't loose him for the Global Campaign).

I'd like to know how much painting factors into it all. If someone paints a Tyrant to a Golden Demon standard and pass, do they get any benefits over another that passed, painted to lower quality? Obviously the better you paint it the greater chance you have of passing the first stage.
As for models to be taken as Gut Guards, we know all Ogres, a Gorger, or a Yhetee may be chosen. Could you clarify whether strange things like Slavegiants and such will be allowed? (I assume not, but some true guidelines would work wonders)
Great job Barabas!

FAQ
Agree Ven ! Although Ill keep the clarification only toward the painting for now. If any more clarification are requested they will be answer on the spot. So far people have from this date 3 month to paint 3 figurines while trying to have a full army to run for the Warhammer Nemesis Crown Campaign or take old ones and brush them up for the occasion (members choice). The full detail toward the Pit-Fighting rules will be out at the end of the painting contest. Plan is to take already made rules for Ogres Pit-Fight & skirmish so no ambiguity arrive during play. If 50 peoples take place during the first round only the best 20 painters will move to the second round. If all goes well we might open this sytem to all after the Nemesis Campaign.
MUST HAVE
One Ogre Tyrant followed by two guts guardian for a total of 3 figures. Max Total of point spent toward 3 figures, 500pts.
GUTS GUARD ALLOWED
Slaughtermaster Bruiser Hunter Butcher
Clarification; You can only have one slaughtermaster in your group. Your are allowed to have two butcher and even two bruiser if you like with your Tyrant. If a Hunter is taken only one sabretusk is allowed since this will represent 3 single model, (you will not be allowed to join another figurine to your group if hunter and sabretusk are taken). You can have 2 Hunter if you like. Hunter Crossbow will not be allowed in the Pit-Fight. Sword/luck gnoblar do not count as model they are instead taken as equipment.
Bulls Ironguts Gnoblar Fighters Gnoblar Trappers
Clarification; You can at any time upgrade your bulls for a crusher, bellower, standard Bearer. Lookout Gnoblar will count toward equipment points. If two bulls are taken both can be upgraded to Crushers but only one standard bearer or bellower can be taken in your group. Same rules apply for Ironguts vs Gutlord. If gnoblars fighters or trappers are chosen as model only the maximum of two is permitted since this would bring your group to 3 distinct model. Sword/luck gnoblar do not count as model they are instead taken as equipment.
Leadbelcher Manheater
Clarification; You can upgrade your leadbelchers to Thunderfist if one or even two are taken. you can also upgrade one leadbelcher to a bellower if none are already present (bellower) in your group. Cannons will not be allowed to be fire within the pit but are allowed as club. Manheaters are allowed their list of equipment as the ordinary rules. Brace of Handguns will not be allowed within the Pit-Fight.
Gorger
Clarification; The rules for only one as been lifted. You can have two Gorger in your group. 'But' killing blow will have restriction when facing Ogre as per rulebook. Gorgers are roleplay to be chain during Pit-Fight and under control by the tyrant. If a gorger move further then 15feet (meaning more then a separation of 3 square in between) during the pit fight from its master, the player will loose movement control over them. The player will still have control over its attack but the Gorger will always moves toward the nearest target. The gorger might also turn once its frenzy started against its Tyrant unless the Tyrant pass a leadership test to retake control of the beast. You are not allowed to have both gorger and yhetee in your group.
Yethee
Clarification; The rules for only one as been lifted. You can have two Yethees in your group. Both Yethees can be upgraded to Greyback. Yethee are roleplay to be under control by the tyrant. If a yethee move further then 15feet (meaning more then a separation of 3 square in between) during the pit fight from its master, the player will loose movement control over them. The player will still have control over its attack but the Yethee will always moves toward the nearest target. The Yethees will not turn against its Tyrant if move away from the restriction zone. However.. The aura of frost that the yethee exhale (-1 to hit) will be counted over its tyrant fighting skill from the start of the battle unless that tyrant as a way to overcome that penalty, or as a spacing of more than two square in between him and the Yethee. You are not allowed to have both gorger and yethee in your group.
Slavegiant
Clarification; You are allowed only one slavegiant in your group of 3 model. If a slavegiant is taken you are only allowed to have a Gnoblar as third model for your group. The terror effect during the Pit-Fight will only cause fear toward all other model except gnoblars/dog of war model that dont cause fear. If fear is cause toward a model that model will run toward the nearest wall. The model will still be able to defend himself and attack along the way but will have to run the opposite way from the creature that fear him until its leardership test is pass or the model is stuck in a corner or facing a wall without use of going to is left or right direction because of a trap.
GUTS GUARD NOT ALLOWED
Rhinox Scraplauncher Rhinox Rider Mammoth Any Riding Beast Giant other than Slavegiant Any other army models not stipulated as a Dog of War model Paymaster Greasus Skrag
Hope it help you in your choice, Barabas

I didn't get my paint jobs completed in time unfortunately, but two of the Ogres look respectable enough (even though they're incomplete) and I've taken a pic of my old 5th edition Marauder Giant to fill in for the missing Ogre, acting as a very well dressed Slavegiant. I've had to resort to phone cam though, so be warned.
Edit: Gah, I've just noticed in the rules that 2 Ogres and a Slavegiant isn't permitted. Ah well, it'll have to be just the Tyrant and the Slavegiant then

so, to answer your questions barabas,
1. i had trouble with getting hold of models, but that was due to money shortage. 2. i'd love too see another one 3. maybe slightly quicker way of deciding the order of turns 4. maybe you should let wildcard decide as he is the winner 5. campaigns section, and in the old world it should be, the gorger pits 6. i don't think there should be an advantage as it would be unfair

More Fluff
A Couple of days earlier Wretched sat drinking with his two guards planning his strategy when he saw a site that wouldnt have looked out of place in his own tribe. A tyrant and two guards dressed in the Bretonnian manner.
You are Wretched Sirrah The Tyrant spoke with a nasal twang reminiscent of the Bretonnians Wretched use to fight and trade with.
Who wants to Know Wretched noticed the Butcher beside the other Tyrant glower at him, he winked back.
I am am Sirrah Roberre formally of Bretonni. I have a proposal for you Im listening rumbled wretched he had signaled to Blade who had slipped away unnoticed. For an ogre he could move with surprising stealth.
In the Battle of the Tyrants there is one who must die. I have been sent here to see that this happens. He is a slave to the Abomination called Tzeench.
You mean that blue dood that follows the trickster Sirrah Roberre turned where Wretched indicated. There stood a large blue suit of Armour for surely no Ogre could remain so still. Next to him was a Butcher of the same blue hue. Wretched eyes met his and sent a shudder through him.
That is the one, will you help me. Sure I hate the trickster Ive had dealing with his kind before. And once he is gone you and I will have a reconning How do I know I can trust you Sirrah asked Roberre. Well cause if I was gunna do you in you'd be dead by now as blade stepped out behind Roberre with his sword drawn. Roberre's large body guard went to intercede but Roberre raised his hand to stop him. I too honour the ways of the Bretonni. It will be a proper challenge. Happy hunting said Wretched who went back to the barrel of mead he was drinking.
Roberre bowed at the waist and turned to leave. His butcher remained behind glaring at him.
Wretched looked the butcher in the eye We have a problem you and I
We may he glared The is another to watch who also follows the warped one, that one is mine
Sure, fill ya boots but once they are sorted you and me will have a talk
The Butcher glared back and then nodded and left.

OK my final write up.
The final act In the middle of the vast chamber was a lava lake, and in the center of that was a large platform. Around the lake ran a wall and at the points of the compass four bridges ran out to the platform.
The voice had come form the left hand bridge. Wretched could see that this one was a follower of the Trickster as well. Did this ogre never die. But no this one was different he wasnt as blue as the other. From the right hand bridge a voice called out.
Remember our deal This one is mine The Bretonnian Butcher called out. A flash of energy shot out from the butcher and the Tzeench Tyrant raised his weapon to block it. The bolt hit the large weapon and rebounded hitting the butcher and knocking him to his feet.
The butcher groaned then struggled to his feet. He pulled out a glowing blade and charge the tricksters servant. The large Tyrant side stepped and cut the Butcher down with one sweep of his weapon.
Wretched raised his weapon in salute of his brave if foolish sacrifice. It had given him time to get into position to charge the Tyrant. This one wore a blindfold and it was hard to understand how he could see to fight it must be the gift of the trickster.
Wretched raised his weapon and called on the MAW. He charged in to take out the Tricksters puppet. As he ran past the tyrant he swung at him but he had underestimated him and took a hit is the side for his efforts. He was able to fend of most of the blow and absorb the magical energy coming from the weapon but his momentum took him into the wall of the platform. It took wretched a few seconds to right himself and as he did he turned to find the Trickster behind him
As I said dont mess in affairs you know not of. Time to send you to your god
The lights went out.
Wretched awoke. It was bright the land scape was covered in snow. From all around lines of ogres were tramping towards a large cave with overhanging rocks. But wait, as his sight cleared he saw that it was a giant mouth. The Maw So he was dead. Oh well, never mind he had had a good run, time to give himself to his God then. He joined the line of ogres marching towards the giant orifice. Ahead of him he saw Blade standing in line waiting to be devoured.
Wretched shook himself. This isnt how he wanted to go out. He was no ones puppet not even the Maws. He broke from the line
Blade to me, Neel you too if you are there he bellowed in his best Tyrant voice. Two ogres broke from the line and came towards him.
Is this how you want to go out you cowards He reached down and broke of a chunk of rock to use as a weapon Pull yourselves together we have work to do Several other Ogres broke ranks and searched for a weapon.
They lines up in a ragged array. Several dozen Ogres armed with sticks and rock.
We may be dead, But we aint done with. Nobody owns an ogre with that he let out a yell and charged the great God. The other ogres took his lead and followed all bellowing their best battle cry.
Had this written out but had to edit the end. Damn that Spangleshard. Great work once again Wildcard and thanx to Barabas.

HAHAHA !!!
Liked the ending was saying to myself were his he going with this returning as a ghost or something then slam the cry of war toward the god... Good one !
About that death thing... just tell yourself that Barabas still have few things in his pocket before he take leave from Greasus Tyrany... and will be sending is own Slaughtermaster within the arena when none are looking to try and bring back to life the one's that did fight well... (who knows some might still be alive ??) else gather the weapons that Heroes have bestow in this vital battle of legend and give them a place of honor for youngers Ogre to found. Grudge is a misterious thing in the land of the mourn. If ask the Slaughtermaster will respond that he his looking to see if there is any survivors and cleaning the place up...

Alright puttings things together !!!
This is the main thing... one shorth article for the contest will be put up with the news of a second contest starting this weekend and sent to the Overtyrant of the forum. Im gonna be away... so I figure the time ill be away could be spent in giving people a heads-up and given them more time to paint. Ill put it up this weekend so not to overload this week of already special things.
The Contest first and second part should end around november... last part start on the 1st december and end at chrismas time so the prize can be sent for the New Year to the winner. What more can I say about the next "BOTT II" until this weekend is that time as been spent to really create a good fluf with whats in the OK book so all can relate. Painting will rise to be more challenging, cut dry and brought down to 2 Ogres characters instead. The contest start will be more RPG as you will receive a list of what your Ogre can get on himself before entering the fight. All will have a single goal to the end... and although you will be able to fight the others... its the goal that will count... that way things will advance faster. Punt a runt is out and will be replace by a small game to be play before the painting even finish. That way we have something in the painting dry chat season to get people going and let others know how things advance for them. Participants in the last part will be brought down that way we have less empty days of posting and things will run faster.
Wildcard Prize is in the mail ! Enjoy... For the next "BATTLE OF THE TYRANT II" the only question that remain is where you want it posted... Dont really want to put it in the campaign section since Nemesis will be done and most related post will only really start around november when the painting part is done.. So I would say Stronghold Staff its your choice for that one !!! For me it would be the Maw-pit saga since all is story driven and most players envy the character Ogre story writting part of the contest before all... Painting and fight being just the extra fun of the contest...
Take care, Barabas
