BSB ideas

original thread ↗

I'm looking to build up a BSB from scratch, and I want him to stand out a bit from just a regular old banner bearer but i'm stumped on ideas! Throw up your BSBs and give me some inspiration!

Just google search 'Ogre BSB' :D

But seriously, I've seen people to amazing things with the big maw sign thing on the back of the Thundertusk riders, or the Stonehorn's skull/face itself.

Or a simpler idea, take the standard from the Mournfang kit, then stick the banner from the Bulls unit on top of that, and its simple but still stands out.

Special basing or a particularly dynamic or different pose from the rest of the ogres in your army is also a great way to make him stand out.

Hope that's of some use to you!
My BSB has an over-sized, imposing weapon as opposed to the standard big flag.  My logic being that Ogres, who value strength over everything else, would probably see the appeal in following the individual with the biggest hitting-stick.

I would say the most important thing, no matter what your BSB is carrying, is to give the model a distinctive pose/silhouette. If you just use the standard Ogre body and arms your BSB is likely to get lost in the crowd.  As you can see with mine I twisted her slightly on the base and added a pointing hand, a bit of sculpting to the neck and shoulders to make sure everything connected properly and she stands out well amongst a group of standard Ogres.

Of course a big, visible helmet always helps in determining who's boss as well.
I've got a VC Terrorgheist / Zombie Dragon waiting at home for when I head back but had the idea of using the ZD head as a helmet or giant banner pole top or trophy of some sort for my Ogres when I get around them.

Not much help, I'm afraid, but my 2 cents.

Bigger is better.  Big flags for waving down the attention of the next giant banner to add to the collection.  :)

See him up the back there on the right?  :)

Ok a better shot.

Haha I tried googling it and came up short! These are all great ideas, definitely got some ideas from here I can use and that massive banner, that is pretty damn epic!
@Jimmy That is brilliant. A mighty fine banner in every aspect.

@Jimmy, That is pretty similar to mine as well.

Excuse the unpainted photos, I haven't gotten that far yet.

I made my BSB using the old battering ram kit (that I don't think GW makes anymore??).

I took the ram piece as the staff, and then I took two of the Bull standards and made the full standard from that; it's good to note that the Bull standards, if you clip the little tips of the wood crossbeam on each side, will line up perfectly together. Add some GS to the bottom of the banner to fill it out, and you'll have a huge, impressive banner.

I then used the Paymaster Maneater, as I liked the pose he has for supporting a huge banner.

My BSB is about a couple millimeters shorter than the Thundertusk with its banner. It's tall. lol

I think I have pics of it on my gnoblog, lemme go check... I'll edit this and add the link once I've found it lol
