Just joining in? The idea is, you make a promise to paint and/or build/convert a given number of models at the beginning of the month, and report back with your progress, if and when you manage to complete it. From here on out we will refer to this as your "Pledge"!
The Rules:
All Pledges will be frozen after the 10th day of the month. There is no changing of *any* pledge after day 10. Pledges are still accepted after the 10th of the month, but they can not be changed once they are made.
If you finish your pledge, and you would like to really impress the rest of the Stronghold, you can then go on to add a Bonus pledge. Any additions to your pledge made before the 10th go onto your initial pledge and will not count as a Bonus pledge.
We need to know The number of Models when you post your pledge. 3, 8, 10, or even 100. Saying "A unit" is not acceptable.
Extra incentive: I will be awarding to those who complete their pledge. I'll also be awarding an extra to the one pledgee who posts the best photos of their pledge throughout the month!
*Please* post the progression of your work (pictures if at all possible). One of the best things about this thread is watching everyone's work come together. It's perfectly fine if you don't post any photos, however. Feel free to make separate posts, and then link into this thread so that others can comment directly in your own thread in the Butchers Cauldron or your Gnoblog.
FAQ Q: So I can Only do Ogre Kingdoms or GW Minis, for my pledge? A: No. There isn't anything stopping you from building and/or painting anything you like, however this is the Ogre Stronghold, and we are naturally more excited to see Ogre models. If you're working on one of your other Armies or projects, and/or any other Models, please feel free to make a Pledge.
Q: I need to change my Pledge! A: well.. You have until the 10th day of the month.
Q: What if I don't have a camera? A: We operate on the honor system. If you say you did it, we believe you. There may be small prizes awarded for photographic evidence, but you really only get the satisfaction of lying on the internet if you choose to do so.
Q: Will you do one of these every month? A: That's the goal... We'll do one of these close to the beginning of every month...
Q: What if I finish my pledge but decide to do more? A: Paint away! If you mean, can you get a head start on next month, I guess so. But it's not as big of an accomplishment to make a pledge with 75% of the project painted at the start of the month... That's not to say that sometimes the last 25% of the project your working on is not more than worth being a pledge of its own..
Q. I have not completed my Pledge for the past few months, should I still enter? A. You bet! The idea behind a painting challenge is to develop some discipline as to what you're going to build or paint. Part of the challenge is to learn what you can complete within a given month, and what you can't. If you find you're not able to complete your pledge for the month, then reduce the size of it.
Let's get to it!

I pledge to paint up a Gnoblar Scraplauncher, and three Ogre Leacbelchers that I've been neglecting for too long .
EagleBones01 Jun 2015
Two ironguts, the two leadbelchers from last months fail and a firebelly.
Farmer757401 Jun 2015
I pledge the following: -finish last month's 7 squigs -6 night goblin herders -1 night goblin boss on foot.
I feel like the king of failed and unfinished projects! I have failed more monthly challenges than I have actually completed!
This is no reason not to strive for better!!!
This month I pledge to...
Finish my Mournfang hero dude; I owe it to Conogre!!!
Assemble a single ogre, with a tonne of greenstuff, make him different in every way to anything else I have ever done. Paint that sucker and get him totally finished and complete. Call him a Maneater and secretly love him every time he hits the table.
Let my girlfriend paint an ogre; no doubt with pink trousers, a spray tan and Essex style teeth. Tell her she has done a good job and, slowly, slowly oh so slowly let her get sucked into the mad world of hobby stuff lulling her into a false sense of security and allowing her to think that in reality we are not all a bunch of hobby obsessed geeks! let the rot set in baby!!!

Farmer757403 Jun 2015
@GH Haha, love it! I can't wait to see your pictures at the end of the month.
On another note, I've spent the last three days ploughing through my objectives and managed to finish those 7 squigs:
That leaves 6 herders and a night gobbo boss on foot.
5 High Elf Maiden Guard 5 Lothern Seaguard 5 Shadow Warriors
No ogres yet. I'm going to have to keep that on hold until 9th hits - these High Elves are all compatible with KoW
Wacko03 Jun 2015
2 Mournfang Cavalry, plus magnetised arms/hands for the various options. Part of this pledge is trying a paler mournfang fur on one, and a darker on the other. No being lazy about it!

I have now finished Mays challenge (I was soooooo close!)
Still got a lot of Orks and a few daemons to sort out for an event. So I'll be keeping this pretty simple and basic.
1 Ogre irongut and 1 Sabretusk.
I know its not exactly flying along at high speed but I also have a dozen tankbustas, a trukk, a battlewagon, a daemon prince and 10 daemonettes to get done.

Almost done!
Final pictures are comming...
Farmer757412 Jun 2015
Wow, you're burning through yours. Nice work, keep at it.
I've been slacking and busy, mostly slacking, but should have 2/3 of mine done in the next few days.
I have been slacking! I am hoping that will change tomorrow (well today now) as my partner is coming over to put paint on her "specially designed" Ogre.
Please understand, I am not proud of this model! I had to "rush job" a kind of trench coat for him (so she can paint bright fancy pink/ turquoise colours on him no doubt) which even by my lowly standard is absolutely terrible! None-the-less I am hoping that the Mrs's greenstuffed Ogre will suffice as part of my monthly pledge!
I am going to have to reign in what I do with my model. I am going to make another Firebelly (rather than a Maneater) and I will be using inspiration from one I saw on the forum...where someone had painted and ogre holding a glowing rock (converted from a hand-held mantrap); it looked so good I thought I needed to do one too! I wish I could remember who did it as I would have bunged them a Gnoblar!
Lastly I have (finally) started on my Mournfang Hero dude! Only a month too late! Terrible state of affairs! Pictures will follow later today.

Ok; so the Firebelly that inspired me to get off my ass and do one myself was done by Eldercaveman!
Farmer, with end times putting Ogres seemingly in the camp of O&G with Grimgor, I have been contemplating him and a small contingent to compliment my ogres....your stuff is really inspiring me to do so, it looks great
Sneggy18 Jun 2015
So only 18 days into the month I get started on my hobby challenge. Going to do my one irongut as the standard bearer.
Based on the start of the cavalry base anyone care to hazard a guess as to what my Sabretusk will be? A gnoblar if anyone gets the right animal let alone the correct model.
EDIt-remember to put the picture in Sneggy you idiot.

Everyone's minis are looking great! I better hurry my ass up.
Sneggy - one of the wolves from the Space Wolf models? I can think of one in particular that looks like it would be bouncing off the rock wall.
Farmer757418 Jun 2015
@Havoc Cheers! I hope you do get around to doing some OnG!
Wacko you need to hurry up? Mine are not even assembled yet and half the months gone!

Aaagh, I wanna spend forever guessing it now, but it might derail the thread a little Perhaps its a spider? A boar? I'm cheating now
I've only put some base colours on the Mournfang, never mind the riders or their gear, and I've gotta move house next week. It's gonna be a tight schedule!
Sneggy18 Jun 2015
Go on then you can have a gnoblar for getting it at the second attempt. My sabretusks will be spiders running along their cave walls.

I managed to get the last of my pledge finished before heading out of town for the next few days. Cut it quite close.
That said, I went a little further and ended up doing two bosses as I scored a good deal on the net.
As usual I'll be cutting mine close. I expect to finish my spidertusk today. Then the Ogre has all his metal done. Starting to regret choosing this one as the standard bearer, no idea what I want to put on the banner.

Farmer757426 Jun 2015
Cheers mate.
What's your army theme? Maybe we can throw you some suggestions.
Time for another update, I enjoyed painting up this piece. I'm not a fan of the Sabretusk models and spent a while looking for large cat models which would be suitable before giving up and deciding instead, Ogres live in the mountains. Spiders live in mountains. Check out the Spidertusk.
Needs some snow on his base and proper photos in the lightbox but will sort that out when the Ogre is done as well.
@farmer: Army is just a mountainous tribe particularly grumpy. The Grumbleguts. Only real things of note are its very cold where they are and they like to complain. Oh and no ogre wears the same trousers.

That spider is awesome, I like how it is based to. Great work!
For your banner I guess I'd suggest a silhouette of a mountain encircle by a maw.
tick tock tick tock. Just the base to do and assembly for my Ogre.

Cheers Farmer, its nothing special, but it works.
Come on Sneggy, we believe in you! You can do it!

Sorry I forgot to mention my pledge at the beginning of this month.
I pledge to assemble and paint 5 kitbashed Tempestus Sions for my Imperial Guard army. The good news is that as of right now I have fully painted 8 of these guys and are looking forward to building more. Unfortunately, I couldn't provide any pictures at the present moment.
Life has been hectic recently, that and my camera's lens seems to have died. After I cleaned the lens every picture I take is so burly that you can't tell what it is. This really puts a damper on my gnoblog process since I was excited on sharing my progress with lots of pictures. If I can find the time and the funds I'll fix/replace the camera but until then I hope you guys understand why I don't have any pics up.

I know its not exactly flying along at high speed but I also have a dozen tankbustas, a trukk, a battlewagon, a daemon prince and 10 daemonettes to get done.
So naturally with a lot to do this month I made my life awkward and made a converted spidertusk instead of a sabretusk and decided my one irongut would be the unit standard bearer.
Without further ado:
(shameless plug, check out Bah! gaming youtube my tribes dedicated to them. Links in my sig)
So done and completed. Snow is to follow when I have enough models painted for it to be worth mixing up a batch.
What does the future months pledges hold? Who knows but you can be damn sure I'll keep painting Ogres regardless of what the Age of Sigmar has in store for us. Really enjoying these chaps.
