Starting up with ogres for a tale of gamers at my local games workshop in Aberdeen. Have to hand in roughly 400 points of models a month until the 2k tournament in May. Thought I'd share the progress with you guys. Month 1 bought the battalion boxed set handing in 6 ogres and 3 Leadbelchers for 366 points. Let me know what you all think, pics to follow.

Looking good so far. Nice work with rusting up those metals on the gutplates! Maybe consider a wash on the skulls hanging from your crushers beard? Agrax earthshade works really well on bone to give a bit of definition, and really does take moments to do.
When's dinner?
Crunchmunch01 Feb 2015
Thanks, I'm really happy with the rust. was gonna change the name of the tribe to rustygut =)

Gnoblars being shot out of cannons! Whats not to love!
2 things:
1. I'm going to steal this idea because it's awesome and really does happen! (See Ironblaster missfire chart)
2. I'm going to give you a Gnoblar to make up for the loss of this fella when the fuse goes!
Great work so far keep up the good work.
Kind regards Zolas.

Ok guys, some fluff as desired:
The Rustygut Raiders
Based close to the Bone Road in the north of the Ogre Kingdoms. The Rustygut tribe were named by Greasus Goldtooth as the "poorest tribe ever" due to their lack of anything shiny at all! Enraged by this, the tribe's Tyrant, Thrug the Avalanche, set about collecting all the leftover equipment from the bodies left on the bone road. Using the rusty scraps, he and his tribe starting raiding anyone daring enough to try and cross the bone road, stealing all they could (though apparently never changing out their older equipment for newer, better stuff).
Thrug has been the tyrant of the rustyguts since before the ogre kingdoms were united under the overtyrant. Even before that, Thrug had a powerful reputation amongst the ogres of his tribe. Almost permanently drunk, he would literally fall into combat, laying about on all sides and flattening anything in the way of his heavily inebriated bulk. This gave him the title of "the Avalanche". Upon becoming tyrant, Thrug sat in a drunken stupor until word of Greasus' slight spurred him into a craze. Now he whirls into combat at the head of a great migration in search of shiny things until the overtyrant changes his mind. The only thing between Thrug and his booty is his need of constant alcohol, he has been drunk for so long he fears the hangover may kill him.

Looking great buddy! Really loved the fluff of your tyrant too. The fact he keep himself drunk because he afraid the hangover may kill him. Just love it! Brilliant!
Eager to see more.

Thanks guys February's submit is gonna be a unit of Ironguts from the leftovers of the batalion. Jimmy I haven't really thought about bases yet, was thinking of sand strewn with random bits of equipment/bones from my spares, used to collect vamps so lots of spares bones etc. Gonna get the guts up and ready asap so will post once they are done =)

Ok guys I painted up the ironguts and have hit a snag, My rust pattern was achieved by basing with leadbelcher followed by a layer of ryza rust, shaded with agrax earthshade then edged with runefang steel. Only problem is I layered the runefang on a bit too much of the area so they are looking too shiny for my liking are there any quick fixes to this??
"Scotland, the ogre kingdoms of the real world."
lbisson19 Feb 2015
Typhus corrosion should do the trick. Otherwise just hit some spots with lead belcher and agrax
Crunchmunch20 Feb 2015
Thanks used agrax and ryza to increase the rustiness much better

Ok so has been a while since an update totally forgot to upload some progress pics. So without further ado here are the Ironguts; basecoated, layered then shaded and highlighted:

Nice tidy painting and i think you have found the right amount of rusting on the metal. I look forward to seeing them based

Crunchmunch23 Feb 2015
Thanks Minigiant I will get round to it I promise. A little busy trying to get half my March entry out of the way so I have time to give both models enough attention.
March's entry is gonna be a stonehorn and an Ironblaster. Big projects so will be keeping you guys posted already some of the way there with the stonehorn pics to follow

Wow... That thing is HUGE (and really cool too)! If you manage to, keep us updated on your wip with it.
Cheers, A.

I knew it was big, but that fells like it belongs to some other scale...
Thanks for sharing! A.

Brb, putting gnoblars in cannons.
Although seriously, looking good! I love your stonehorn, I'm terrified about getting round to pairing mine!
Crunchmunch19 Mar 2015
Thanks, I must admit the stonehorn is a massive project, best advice I can give on it is undercoat the separate bits with the colour you want. My local GW sprayed my ironblaster rhinox brown saved me so much time and pain. Looking forward to getting them all into a battle soon

Finally finished my March entry. For your enjoyment, my Stonehorn and Ironblaster
Also some close ups of the finished blaster

Minigiant22 Mar 2015
Nicely done, my only suggestion for improvement is a bit more variety on the basis: Rocks, Slate Etc. It would give it some depth
Keep up the great work

Brontes23 Mar 2015
Really nice painting. I like your Stonehorn, never know that beast was so big. Love to see more.
Crunchmunch24 Mar 2015
Thanks Brontes for April's entry I'm putting my conversion cap on and making a Tyrant and 2 butchers from a box of bulls and leftovers so I'll keep you guys posted. Also thanks for the tip Minigiant was gonna add some snow flock once I bring it back from Reading, a lot of my old stuff is here from when I collected when I was younger. More updates soon once I return =)
