There hasn't been a local Ogre player in my area for the most part ever oddly enough. It may be the only major army book I have only seen at tournaments over my past 10ish years of playing Warhammer.
So with a new player looking to get into Ogres in the area I had little advice on how to kit out a tyrant which seems to be the leaning favorite for lord choice though some suggestions on a Slaughter master might help out as well.
Thanks in advance.

at the moment lvl 4 slaughtermaster seems a better choice or else u wont have much of a magic phase in my opinion I tried the tyrant a couple of games now and I really missed the magic phase lvl 4 but test for yourself and see what you like best maybe you are better with dice than me hehe

Really? Where do you play, if you don't mind me asking. They're always represented to some degree, here on the west coast, and after the new book came out a good 40-50% of the attendees brought Ogres. Heck, I actually made a bit of a name for being the Ogre player who specialized in beating other Ogres.

I play in Duluth Mn, and when I have left to go to the tournament scene its some of the biggest Midwest Tournaments which have a really strong Ogre Representation these days. However in my past 4 tournaments I have played Ogres once and among even the 16ish local players if you count those that show up once in a great while we have no Ogres. Chaos right now is heavily represented, A bit of Empire, Wood Elves, Dark Elves and then a smattering of Tomb Kings, High Elves, Dwarves, Skaven, Vampire Counts, Lizardmen, Orcs & Gobbos, Dogs of War.
I might have missed one or two in there but the only Ogre player we have ever had plays like 5 armies and never really got into his ogres.
