Monthly Painting Challenge - June 2014

Just joining in? The idea is, you make a promise to paint and/or build/convert a given number of models at the beginning of the month, and report back with your progress, if and when you manage to complete it. From here on out we will refer to this as your "Pledge"!

The Rules:

• All Pledges will be frozen after the 10th day of the month. There is no changing of *any* pledge after day 10. Pledges are still accepted after the 10th of the month, but they can not be changed once they are made.
• If you finish your pledge, and you would like to really impress the rest of the Stronghold, you can then go on to add a Bonus pledge. Any additions to your pledge made before the 10th go onto your initial pledge and will not count as a Bonus pledge.
• We need to know The number of Models when you post your pledge. 3, 8, 10, or even 100. Saying "A unit" is not acceptable.
• Extra incentive: I will be awarding to those who complete their pledge. I'll also be awarding an extra to the one pledgee who posts the best photos of their pledge throughout the month!

*Please* post the progression of your work (pictures if at all possible). One of the best things about this thread is watching everyone's work come together. It's perfectly fine if you don't post any photos, however. Feel free to make separate posts, and then link into this thread so that others can comment directly in your own thread in the Butchers Cauldron or your Gnoblog.

FAQ
Q: So I can Only do Ogre Kingdoms or GW Minis, for my pledge?
A: No. There isn't anything stopping you from building and/or painting anything you like, however this is the Ogre Stronghold, and we are naturally more excited to see Ogre models. If you're working on one of your other Armies or projects, and/or any other Models, please feel free to make a Pledge.

Q: I need to change my Pledge!
A: well.. You have until the 10th day of the month.

Q: What if I don't have a camera?
A: We operate on the honor system. If you say you did it, we believe you. There may be small prizes awarded for photographic evidence, but you really only get the satisfaction of lying on the internet if you choose to do so.

Q: Will you do one of these every month?
A: That's the goal... We'll do one of these close to the beginning of every month...

Q: What if I finish my pledge but decide to do more?
A: Paint away! If you mean, can you get a head start on next month, I guess so. But it's not as big of an accomplishment  to make a pledge with 75% of the project painted at the start of the month...  That's not to say that sometimes the last 25% of the project your working on is not more than worth being a pledge of its own..

Q. I have not completed my Pledge for the past few months, should I still enter?
A. You bet! The idea behind a painting challenge is to develop some discipline as to what you're going to build or paint. Part of the challenge is to learn what you can complete within a given month, and what you can't. If you find you're not able to complete your pledge for the month, then reduce the size of it.

Alrighty then, since I've only completed two so far (last month's, and then one from a year or so ago), I'll have at least four more to complete! (Although, I'm running out of models left to paint!)

So... Challenge for this month...

1. Finish painting Slaughtermaster
2. Paint and complete Tyrant and Bruiser BSB conversion.

I've been putting off the characters for way too long. Again, I'll make my bonus pledge finishing my Bulls, although I have to leave one of them for my wife to paint (she's got dibs on one ).

After characters, all I'll have left are the large Rare beasts in my collection... oh, and like, 100 gnoblars

first time doing this but let's go.

6 ironguts and 1 firebelly as a start and maybe ill add something later
10 beastmen gor with 2 weapons

I'll be continuing my uncompleted pledge from May. Eight maneaters, six ogres, and an ironblaster.

Bonus pledge: display board for the army.

My pledge is to start and finish 4 Maneaters with extra hand weapons, 1 Firebelly, 2 Mournfang cavalry and 2 Sabre Tusks.

Hoping this pledge for a first timer for the monthly pledge isn't too high but we shall see.

My pledge is to finish painting 6 ogre bulls. One is nearly complete.

It is not that much, but with school and such i wont be having a lot of free time, maybe it will become even more, we will see!

Right Going to pledge to finish my Stonehorns head.  I also pledge 1 Gnoblar.

As a bonus pledge if I get time I plan to paint my limited edition Tyrant/Maneater from the army box set.

i did fail last month, this is the first time to fail too, just had soo much painting to do for other people it was crazy. i did not even get chance to do any of my stuff. so a more realistic target this onth is to

5 man squad of sternguard, commision models
1 terminator libby, commision model
1 belail also a commision
then its on to my stuff.......build 70 ork boyz, base and undercoat them plus the first and second coats on ther cloth. plus to make it a little harder i will say get there boots to a washing stage, should be fun as ive got some real classics to work on.

A quieter month for me.
Convert and paint 6 more Birdmen
Convert and paint a Firebelly.

I pledge to finish my second Stonehorn and my newly acquired giant model.

All right after being MIA last month due to painting my Ogres  I need to build and paint 8 Leadies and 6 Bulls.

For the record last month I did manag to paint:
17 Guts
4 Mournfang
7 ManEaters
1 Ironblaster

At some point I'll have time to take some pix and update my Gnoblog.

finaly got to the end of all that commision work, now its time for some green fungus painting, theres a update in my blog fir anyone intrested

my pledge for this month is to build paint and base this months model for my turning friends into models thread which will be a  dark elf sorceress on cold one and also to build that scyla model thats been sat in my GW drawer for goodness knows how long, ive been putting it off because it was given to me as it had lost its head so ill have to have a route around in the old bitz box to find a suitable replacement and then put it all together , also ... finecast

Wow another update so soon.  I got the green stuff out and I did my arm less gnoblars bandage!  Slightly bulky but came out better then I expected (and personally I don't expect gnoblars to bandage well!)  Hope you like him.

@zolas ive done a couple of bandages now and found a better way to do it is to layer on the green stuff then cut in to it where the wrapping would be, this will avoid any bulking up on the mini.

ok going to have a big mug of coffie, white with some sugars in it then realy try to get some more work on these orks before momentum runs out. theres 70 plus o the desk right now. built basecoated and the cloth work finished, onto 140 plus pairs of boots!!!!!!

Completed my pledge for the month.  Here are the Bulls to round out the Leadies.

Finally finished my MFC! (from last month!!)

Pledge completed. Just need to try getting some good pics as the ones I took are just bad.

Work is complite for this month. got all of the required pledges complited and even made a start on the next stage. batch painting for the win

I have managed to get one of my three characters finished, but I haven't got the pics loaded up yet. I finished my Slaughtermaster!

Now, just the Tyrant (who's only primed) and my giant metal BSB (who isn't even primed )... Yuck. But, I'll actually have time this week to work on them! ;D

right building nearly done, just the IB to go, oh and one IG. Giant nearly done, just base and cow to finish and SM done

Okay, I've finished my tyrant... I'm being lazy, I have pics on my phone but I haven't taken the time to upload them yet

So, all that's left is my giant-ass BSB model that I finally primed yesterday. It'll probably be easier done than said, but I just need to motivate myself to finishing it prior to month's end (which, today was supposed to be the day that I'd finish it, but time was not my ally this week).

I finished my pledge in time for the tourney last weekend, I'll see about putting up some pics if I get a chance.

I managed to find motivation enough to finish this month!

Yay! And now, with three of these monthly challenges completed, I'll have earned another achievement!

Looks great guys! I can't wait to get to the stage that I'll be able to unpack boxes of models and hobby stuff

Sadly, for the near foreseeable future I have to make do with renovating tools and materials, as well as different shades of white paint Decided to renovate the new place a bit, and it's better to suffer now than have to go through all the trouble of moving furniture out of the way later etc etc...
