Deployment
----------

Turn 1 - Ogre Kingdoms
----------------------

IF Comet goes off dealing a wound to each of my casters.  Slaughtermaster is killed via Gruts.  Leadbelchers delete unit of dogs and put 3 wounds on chariot.  Ironblaster misfires.

Turn 1 - Warriors of Chaos
--------------------------

Comet comes down doing nothing in a fitting legacy to the Slaughtermaster.  Curse of the Leper boosts the Chariots toughness whilst a powered up Plague Wind misfires doing nothing of note.

Turn 2 - Ogre Kingdoms
----------------------

Toothcracker goes off onto the Leadbelchers.  The Chariot and another unit of Dogs are deleted via fire.  Ironblaster keeps up with tradition and misfires.  Made the mistake here of not reforming my Ironguts to cover the Southern alleyway.

Turn 2 - Warriors of Chaos
--------------------------

Plague Wind is ended, Curse of the Leper is dispelled and Plague Wind fails to cast.

Turn 3 - Ogre Kingdoms
----------------------

Toothcracker is dispelled, Braingobbler fails to cast.  Ironblaster hits the Daemon Prince who wards.  1 wound caused via Leadbelchers onto Daemon Prince.

Turn 3 - Warriors of Chaos
--------------------------

Chimera and Dogs charge into Leadbelchers.  Curse of the Leper is dispelled onto the Ironguts, Miasma goes through onto the Chimera and Plague Wind does 6 wounds onto the Ironguts whilst the Lore attribute kicks in for the Daemon Prince.  In combat I lose 3 leadbelchers before wiping out the dogs and holding.

Turn 4 - Ogre Kingdoms
----------------------

Ironguts charge into the Chimera as both Gorgers fail frenzy checks and charge into the Warriors.  Plague Wind is dispelled, shooting does nil to the Daemon Prince whilst the Ironblaster hits the Chimera and I promptly roll a 1 to wound.  Gorgers kill a single Warrior whilst the Chimera is killed.

Turn 4 - Warriors of Chaos
--------------------------

Gorebeast chariot fails charge against Leadbelchers.  Skullcrushers and Chimera charge into the Ironguts.  Hellheart puts a single wound on the Daemon Prince.  Fleshy Abundance is dispelled on the Skullcrushers.  Gorgers are killed in combat.  Ironguts lose 5 models, I kill a single Skullcrusher in return.

Turn 5 - Ogre Kingdoms
----------------------

Toothcracker is dispelled.  Ironblaster fails to bounce into Gorebeast (2 misfires for bounce rolls), Leadbelchers do nothing.  In combat I kill a Skullcrusher and am left with only the characters.

Turn 5 - Warriors of Chaos
--------------------------

Daemon Prince charges into Leadbelchers.  Gorebeast into Leadbelchers however I flee.  Curse of the Leper takes the Daemon Prince to toughness 7.  Miasma I fail to dispel on the Chimera whilst the Skullcrushers get regen.  BSB and Butcher killed, I call the game.

Result - Warriors of Chaos Victory.

Conclusion - Well it seems for me an Ogres is everything can go wrong, it always does.  2 games in a row where I've lost my Slaughtermaster and when you lose your level 4 the rest of the game is going to be an uphill struggle.  Granted I'm facing a tough Warriors list (that I wrote for my brother to try) so I can't be too critical.  I've got another game tonight and have no idea where to go for lists (or armies for that matter) so if you have any thoughts at all please comment away!

Good rep mate! Kept it short and dynamic.

I got also beaten by WoC yesterday. They are the only army I have never been able to win :x For the record, the dam failblaster did well for me too :D Round 1, I roll 1 to wound. Round 2, missfire. Round 3, missfire. Everybody say it is a cheesy thing, but it has never been even a modest use of 170p for me!

That list you wrote for your own doom was hard. 2 chimeras and a deamon prince  Good luck with those. I think your IB should really have done something for you to have success. Also more IG´s on the list and not losing your SM would have been keypoints if u ask me.
Sweat saves blood
Great report- sorry about the loss!

I think you put too much stock into Leadbelchers though. I understand the gunline-convergence list, but it seems very much like a one-trick pony to me, and as you saw, if you lose your pony (the SM) then you can't ride it to victory :>P

Sorry for the bizarre metaphor, I was just thinking out loud :D

I've always steered clear of Gruts on my SM for exactly the reason you mentioned- if you DO happen to roll snake-eyes, not only have you given away an extra 100VPs, but the rest of the game will be an uphill struggle. I know it's a slim chance, but I have no faith in the dice being with me. In all my games my IBs have had average to above average luck, so if I took Gruts, I know I'd be paying for their competence with my SMs life!

Good luck with the next match, be sure to let us know how it goes. I liked your concise style, as it cuts out a lot of the faff that people usually put i, and just gives us the juicy bits :D

Their tears will be a perfect addition to the Butcher's cauldron.
Thanks for the comments guys, I really appreciate them.

@JFB - Maybe we got our Ironblasters from the same store perhaps???  :)  I've just posted another game against the same list and a bit of a spoiler alert, the damn thing did nothing again!!  Very frustrating.

@Ultra-Mega - Great metaphor.  I agree, some match ups will just go down with this list whilst others will be the opposite.

Nice report Jimmy, Great that you all ways keep them so simple and short. Sorry that you lost. Your opponent brought a very powerful list. What do you like more, your ogres or your tomb kings? :)

Thanks for the comment.  I actually wrote my opponents list so I guess in a way I won right??  :)

I love Tomb Kings because of their background and models, I love the Ogres for their raw power and strength (and they live to eat).

It's interesting however that the Ogre community doesn't seem as lively at the Tomb King one which I find strange because the Ogres are such a power house.

Off course you won by that logic :)

Yea, I agree the tomb king community is a bit more lively than ogres. funny since many view tomb kings as one of the worst armies of the 8th ed.

I think that's the reason the community will be more lively- everyone likes an underdog, and by talking openly about the book, and discussing every aspect of the army, people hope they can change attitudes towards the Tomb King book; because it's so weak, there are more people looking to be the first one to find a secret strength in it and become God of The Internet for turning a weak army into a reasonable/ good one.

Ogres are solid and everyone knows they are, so there's less serious discussion about our units/ army. Every thread is basically 'If I take unit X instead of unit Y, will I still win as much?' :>P

I guess you're right on both accounts.  I've had a great deal of fun with the Tomb Kings over the past near 2 years and won 1 tournament with them so I can say I don't think they're as weak as what they're made out to be.  They have some solid builds although I can understand the argument against a player of equal skill with a higher 'tier' army.

I got another battle report in against the same list if you guys are interested in:
