The Ogre Stronghold Legacy Army Project

original thread ↗

The Ogre Stronghold will be 10 years old roughly a year from now, and I'm excited to announce that to lead up to the celebrations we're hosting a year long painting event starting right now! :D

The goal of the event is to have a fully painted Ogre Stronghold Ogre Kingdoms army by July 13th 2014, with all of the models painted by the community. There is no size limit to this army, and both experienced and less experienced painters can take part. We're going to focus on one element of the army at a time over the coming months, starting with Ogres/Ogre Bulls!

Every model should preferably include the colour red somewhere, as that's the Stronghold's main colour and it'll help unify the army a bit. Feel free to make use of the Stronghold's symbol too (posted above), or even just use the red Maw's Tooth mountain on its own if you prefer!

Painted minis are to be shipped directly to me - you can find my address in the Gnoblogs section of the forum in the brand new 'Ogre Stronghold Legacy Army' Gnoblog, which you're welcome to contribute to with your painting progress!

I'll also take photos of the minis I receive and hopefully make some unboxing videos throughout the year for our YouTube channel :)

The really cool part: after the July 13th deadline, the entire army will be awarded to one lucky Stronghold member!

Submitting models gains you entry to the competition for free, and you'll also be able to purchase additional entries closer to the deadline next year. Money received will first go towards shipping the army to the winner, and any remaining money will be put towards supporting the website in the future. The winner of the army will be chosen at random.

Hopefully we can build something awesome together, an army fit for the Stronghold! :D
Just to say, I am definitely gonna be taking part in this. My model will be getting it's first coats on Saturday! :)

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.

And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.
Something to do with extra Bulls!
This is Wiki, the pet gnoblar. Say hello, Wiki.
I will send through a mutant Ogre! for a start.
I'll grind yer bones to make meh bread!!

Ogre Achievements: 18/101 : Latest: Still loving it!
Games played: 8th/OK: 2/2/1

Bull's not far off finished already, should be a blast from the past for the older members!
I don't suffer from mental instability. In fact, I enjoy it immensely.

Gutlord Inquisitor: FORUM FIGHT! Me, I'm betting on the stronghold. Sure, they're outnumbered with thick skulls, stubborn bull-headedness and an inflated sense of self-worth, but hey, they're Ogres.
Any updates on this project?  Is it still happening?
Right now, consider it on hold. I haven't seen or heard from H for a while. Leave it with me, and I will look into it :)

Worst case scenario, we reboot this project, and someone else can take charge :)

Id be interested in this, if it is still going.

Been considering collecting Ogres, got none yet.
But i do have some giants, from an Orc & Goblin army, i could donate one?
Okay, I am thinking of kick starting this, with someone else taking the helm. Thoughts and comments? :)

Xanaq; definitely, all donations are very welcome :)

Hmm how about making it a bit less ambitious, and say make it the 'Maneaters of the stronghold project', I think a whole army might struggle as it will inevitably end up being the same few people who keep donating.

Dedled

Edit: then again, an army would be amazing

Perhaps redefining the parameters would help encourage participation :)

Maybe an Ogre from each person would suffice, and if people wish to donate more models in terms of size and cost, then we won't say no :)

The intention to raffle the army off should really help motivate entry, as each Ogre gains you one free entry to the competition :)

I am open to suggestion on the direction of the army, how we run this project etc. The only two things I am set on, is the army is meant to be a good representation of us lot here at the Stronghold, and the deadline being the end of June :)

I'd certainly be happy to donate an Ogre or two to this project, I think it's a great idea. It will, however, put a lot of work on the organiser...

As for any suggestions/parameters:

* each Ogre submitted must be converted in some way, be it a simple weapon change, stance, the addition of some GS work...

* everyone to submit an MSU with the flag/arms of their country/county/city of birth...

I like the idea of each Ogre submitted gaining one ticket in a raffle for the army. I did think that perhaps the army could be auctioned off for charity, but that could be very tricky indeed to oversee, and perhaps become very divisive. Maybe a poll of the top 5 nominated charities? Probably best to simply raffle it off to contributors...

Any news on this?

Hey man :)

As mentioned above, sadly H seems to have gone off the radar. Hoping he is well, but in his absence I think this needs a guiding hand to take over the project. We have roughly four months to get this well under way, so perhaps someone is particularly enthused to do so? :)
