Alternative Mournfang Models

original thread ↗

Hello forum,
being my first post I dont want to break any forum rules. My question is I want to use the scribor miniatures War Bear instead of the Mournfang cav, just wondering if anyone has done this? I want to find out if the ogres can actually fit on the models.

Ima include the link to the models, but if it is against the forum rules I apoligise in advance.

I have not tried it, but greenstuff and a hobby knife are your friend if you want to put them up there and they don't fit.
I have not tried it either but my assumption would be that you will need to use some greenstuff to make it work.  The MF riders legs are wide but I don't know if they are that wide.

If you aren't planning on using the MF riders legs you will defiantly need to do some modifications.
Nice looking model!  I would think the ogre should fit with some appropriate trimming and greenstuff as Newsun said.  Personally, I'd use them as a rhinox cavalry over a mournfang (as they don't look terribly fast), but in general that would only matter if you planned on putting both on the table.  I use my converted rhinox riders as mournfang for instance.

Also, I don't think the width of the legs should require very much conversion with only a little use of green stuff.
Cavalry = Fast Food.

Thanks for the comments, will look more into then.

For now I am just using the Ogre Kingdoms book, plus I am not sure which rhinox cav rules are legal or not (forgeworld pdf?).

Yet I still want to use Rhinox models in my army, as I like the look of them, but never liked the Mournfang.
Why not just use the Scibor Ogre rhino rider? That is what I plan to use, looks much meaner and heavier than the bearcat and can use for the foreworld rhino rider as well.
I hear you on the rhinox rider rules.  I'm still hoping that FW fits them into their next book.  They are the only fantasy model with "experimental" rules now...

I'm planning to include the Scribor Ogre somehow as well.  At it's price though, I'm not sure if I'll use it as a single model or make a unit out of it.

I just received  their slaughter model a couple days ago. I think he looks cool and with some bits to go around him he will make a great looking SM. Was very happy with the company and delivery was quick considering they are based in Poland.
ONLY IN A COLLAR CAN A OGRESS TRULY BE FREE....
Size wise it is more of a human sized figure mount. Would look possibly small for an ogre. Do you definitely want a bear mount in place of a mournfang?

This bear can be ordered without the rider etc now too although I'm sure they would sell to any chaos player if you picked them up.

And IMO the GW Mournfang look too small for the Ogres, that is why im after a bulky beast. The Bear helps with the background I want to go for, blah blah.

I probally will buy one bear and see what I can do, if it isn't possible than too bad. But if it works :) haha will have pics up !

Cheers
It looks maybe a little small, but I'm not sure it looks much smaller than that bear.  Hopefully, it works out.  Let us know and maybe put some pictures if it works well :)
Cavalry = Fast Food.

From what I saw the Bear was a mount for Dwarves in 28mm scale, so if you're wanting that Bear for Ogres, you might be disappointed......

Both those bear miniatures are rather nice.  :D

That looks like a 40mm base.

That bear doesn't look to be any bigger then an Ogre.

I have purchased and tried the Scibor War Bears and though they are very cool minis I'm so torn as to whether they will work or not.  On the one hand they do have a GW feel to them and certainly don't look terribly out of place.  on the other hand they may not be menacing enough to fit what I think qualifies as a Mournfang.  It's just my opinion of course but I'm offering it because you asked :)

An alternative I'm considering is the Darklands, Bane Lords miniature for Kraan, Tain of Baalor on Bear seen here.
