Magnetizing your ogres?

I was looking into some way to transport my ogres(besides plastic baggies >.<) and came across the ideas to magnetize them.

I found these magnets that are 1/8 by 1/16 and I believe the small holes on the bottom of the bases are 1/8 of an inch? I just wanted to make sure I got the right size magnets here. Also any recomendations on what to use/how to make the magnetic movement trays?

For magnetizing ogres onto their bases it's simple, get a small magnet like the ones you have above, drill hole in foot and base making sure the holes are aligned as you want them, then just glue, paint and flock the model as you normally would making sure you do not paint or flock the magnets. Also make sure the polarity is the right way around before you stick them in otherwise you will end up with bases that repel the figure instead of attract.

The bases are made of two layers, the top layer is plastic like a GW base, the bottom layer is magnetic, you get a strip of magnetic rubber that you cut to the size of the movement tray (the GW modular ones are perfect for this) then the bases just stick on, I did it for my beasmen army and can hold a unit of plastic gors upside down by the movement tray and as long as I don't violently shake it they will stay on, just about holds a metal model on upside down but any movement would disrupt it. It should be fine for plastic and finecast ogres.

I use 6x2mm magnets, I have them sitting flush with the base instead of in the little holes (because of my other armies that don't have the little holes)
6x2 just fits inbetween the holes, but 5x2 could be slightly better for Ogres.
The 2mm thickness is because that is the exact distance of the gap at the bottom  of bases and so the magnets fit flush, if you don't have 2mm you'll find the attraction not at the strength you need.
1 6x2 is enough for a general plastic Ogre, you could use 2 to be extra secure if you wanted.

For the magnets to attract to the movement trays I use Flex-o-metal, it's awesome!
It's flexible metal in essence, a material that is easy to cut with scissors or a craft knife and it comes with self-adhesive on the back which is suprisingly strong, you don't even need to use glue.

Thanks for the suggestions guys but inwas hoping to get this done sooner than later and I live in the us so ordering from overseas probably isn't going to be time/cost effective. Anybody know any us places to get this stuff?

Ok... there's 2 routes you can go to magnetise your minis
you either use the sheet magnet type (which covers the entire lower base) or the 6x2mm rare earth magnets.  both are okay and i use a combination of both.
For the sheet ones, go to http://www.litko.net/
For rare earth, there are plenty of vendors on ebay but i spend a bit of time looking for the cheapest deals, though i found that the vendors in China give the best price.

Coming to the adhesive bottom, flexi metal or paper metal would be what you are looking for.  Litko also has those but i buy from this guy called Trevor Holland from this website http://www.magneticdisplays.co.uk/magdisp4.asp since he offers a way more competitive price.  He is in UK though but he ships fast so its your call. 

Lastly, you'll need em steel trays!  i can't recommend enough Shogun Miniatures.  Friendly and economical prices for your stainless steel movement trays.  http://shogunminiatures.com/shogunminjaturessteeltrays.html  If you want to skip the step of buying magnets and sticking them to the base, they sell magnetic bases too!

Right now, I use the GW modular trays with a piece of galvanized steel I cut off a large sheet inserted into them. Then on the bottom of the minis, I use sheet magnet. I find 40mm x 40mm has enough glue points to hold onto the sheet magnet well enough. (Also, I get the sheet magnet for free. )

However, seeing those nice flanged Shogun trays there, I'm tempted to get a pile of them. They're crazy cheap.
