Scotty Wazza's Log - Reinforcements!

original thread ↗

You are not alone Reg06, I cant help seeing them either. The times I have seen great conversions etc and gone "Wow thats amazing! ........but look at those mold lines." Its an affliction I am sure. Forced mold line removal also doubles my painting/construction time :( I can't help it.

Almost can't go wrong with devlan mud wash, doesn't matter what it is. Give it a go.
Gave the bone some love:

OK can be competitive at a tournament, I just tell kids i'm going to beat them up in the parking lot if they win.
Now the bones look much better.

Keep Calm and Praise the Sun!
It's like Christmas!!!

2 Stonehorns, 1 Ironblaster, 3 Mournfangs and the Army Book. All the new finecasts are also on their way! I think my dog is thinking "I wonder how long it will be before he notices me again"

And even more arrived today:

Like a fat kid in a candy store...     :D

WIP - Lowrider Mournfangs! (didn't like the silly high up saddles)

Used a bit of sprue to seperate the legs, and trimmed some off the front of the legs to make them fit. Used a regular gut plate too. Will fill in the gaps with Green Stuff.

Shaved off a bit of the saddle mount, as well as drilling pins for horns on the back.

Cut the horns off the saddle section:

Drilled them out for the pin:

And mounted them to the new saddle:

Also started on magnetising all arm options:

Just a little way to go yet... =(

If by RAW, you mean "Reg06's Audacious Whims", then you'd be right.

Time for a big...
WIP PLASTIC UPDATE

First off, my two big fellas. Have magnetised the crap out of these (arms, tails, heads), just need to figure out how to magnetise the back piece / back rider and it'll be good to go! (and base it, and paint it too I guess...)

I wasn't too keen on two Stornhorns facing the same way, so I butchered one of the heads so that it is now looking straight ahead with it's head thrown back a bit. Just need to sculpt some fur to fill the gaps!

Next up, my Ironblaster. A very busy model, but I like it a lot! Got another one on the way, was accidentally not packed in my order. I didn't like the sheild thingo above the cannon so left it off.

And the first of my Funny Little Fellas. I tried to have the gnoblars doing funny things in these models, like telling the rhinox where to go!

And on to my Mornfang Lowriders!

And a few more Funny Little Fellas:

Wheeee!!!!!

I didn't really realise how much of an improvement it is until I compared pics:

Huge improvement!!!

Also, I smashed out 60 Gnoblars today, 40 to go! Just have to do their weapons... I now feel for Horde army painters!

Surely someone can give me a Gnoblar for that effort?   8)

You can have a Gnoblar for the lowriders and the purple horde.

I has question though, How did you tweek the actual saddle, because I believe you explain the horns and the legs, but not the actual seat.

Thanks!

I don't actually use the saddle at all. I just shave off the corners of the bits the saddles glue on to on the mournfang bodies using a scalpel so that it is nice and flat. You can see the white bits in the picture are the corners I have cut down.

Thanks for all the Lowrider Mournfang tips & tricks! I will definitely be doing that it looks waaay better! I almost did not want to grab some because of the ridiculously high saddles, now that I see what you've done with them, I will not hesitate any longer! :)

A bunch of magnets arrived today from http://www.back2base-ix.com/ so I managed to finish out the arming of my Mournfangs.

Da Boyz

Real happy with how they turned out. Will try and get some paint on them soon.

And a few other new fellas:

I don't know if you've had a look around, but I kinda feel like I'm a bit slow to pick up the new ogres... for an example, have a look here: http://www.ogrestronghold.com/forum/index.php?topic=20734.0;topicseen

That is exactly how I have been planning to fix the Mournfangs, I'm glad to see that it works out so well. You shall have another Gnoblar for that confirmation.  :>)

I don't magnetize my armies; feels somehow more 'real' to me. But for the effort you go through to magnetize yours, you can get another Gnoblar. :>D

Took me ages to figure out how to do it. Pictures can be found here: http://www.ogrestronghold.com/forum/index.php?topic=20358.msg291798#msg291798

I went with 5mm square magnets (they're damn strong!) in the body and 3*2mm round disk magnets drilled into the back pieces themselves. The square magnets on the right hand side of the body needed to be glued onto a thin piece of plastic to make them stick out far enough, I just cut up a spare base (Thicker than a GW one though) and glued this between the magnet and monster.
