What can you make from the battalion box?

original thread ↗

Is it possible to use the ogre bodies in this box set to make more standard bulls? I ask because I have some leftover bull bits and thought it would be an inexpensive way to add to the basic troops. Are the bodies essentially the same allowing for this?

Thanks

Yes. The box says you can make 6 bulls, 4 leadbelchers, and 4 ironguts. What the box doesn't say is that all 14 bodies are the same and its just the arms that are different. You have enough bits to make all 14 of them bulls (if not enough close enough to fudge the last few with some creativity).

You also get a crap ton of gnoblars. Best battalion out there.

Edit: It should also be said there has been lots of success using some greenstuff making butchers and bruisers out of the bull model. =D

I've got a lovely bunch of gnoblars *dodo do do* Here they are all sitting in a row!

Awesome!! Thanks for taking the time to respond..............
A few blobs of green stuff and some good ideas and you can make pretty much any 14 ogres you'd like. I only have one metal butcher and a metal maneater I use as a tyrant the rest are made from the basic ogre body.

Chuck Norris was the fourth wise man and gave Jesus his favorite gift, a beard. The other wise men were so hacked off, they got Chuck Norris removed from the bible. Mysteriously, they all later died of Roundhouse kick related injuries.
Best battalion out there.

QFT.  No other battalion packs as many points and as much variance in the models.  WoC is a great battalion for a beginner, dont get me wrong, one of those and a hero and you've got a 1k army.  But you're stuck with what you get.

If you're new to Ogres, I'd go all bulls, if you buy a 2nd go with 2 Leadies (really just to have, if you want to be competitive go bulls) 8 Iron Guts and the rest bulls. Convert 3 to a Bsb, tyrant/bruiser and SM/butcher if you don't buy the individual models.
I in fact just finished modelling together my second ogre battalion. It brings 14 bodies (and 15 large bases for some strange reason) as well as all the parts you need to make your essentials. The actual bodies come seperate leaving only the bits and bobs to make your Bulls, Leadbelchers and Ironguts. There is however enough parts to make, say, 14 standard ogre bulls (all you need to do is use the extra bits left over from your standard six). That, and it brings 24 gnoblars! Hope this helps.
The real question is what can't you make?  ;)

God I love the battalion box. It's especially great for people who like to do conversions. Oh and you don't only get 20 gnoblars... it's more like 30+
28 Gnoblars Fighters I believe, which is what a box of them comes with too.

However this doesn't include all the various Gnoblars on the Bull/Irongut/Leadbelcher sprues, that can be easily based and repurposed into being more Gnoblar Fighters.
Sorry about the massive thread rez, but it's better than making a new thread just to clarify.

Does this mean that there are enough parts for 16 bulls, even without spare bitz?

Because I want to try and make a Tyrant or Butcher from one of the leadbelchers, because I don't plan to use any of them.

This is considered threadomancy.

To answer your question - yes? You get far more Bullesque parts but you might not have enough for making all 16 Bulls (without making any Ironguts) as there aren't quite that many arms I don't think. You can certainly skip making the 4 Leadbelchers though.
