Summary of the latest Ogre Kingdoms rumours (thanks to WarSeer):
MODELS
Possible for summer release (June/July/August)
Plastic rhinox kit able to make a scrap launcher, rhinox ridden by an irongut rider (with parts for a lord or butcher) or a third variant that will be a gnoblar fighting platform/ chariot. 100+ pieces.
No giant remake. No changes to plastics current. A *possible* plastic set for tyrant/slaughter master. Price is on par with the minotaur lord, if it happens. New Gorger, metal and disturbing.
NEW ENTRIES
Gnoblar fighting platform Rhinox Riders Gnoblar hero choice, riding a giant (possible as a mount upgrade, as opposed to a special character?) A halfling that got lost and now lives in an ogre camp, disgused as something icky no doubt (entry in list?)
RULES
(in no order)
A leadbelcher upgrade for Tryrants, with grapeshot, worked out per warpthrower old rules.
hidden" rule for hunter and trappers. 4+ to see at long range
Slave Giants Slave giant "barge" attack, d3 impact hits at s6 if charging father than 6 inches, plus 1 to roll on chart Possibly get extra rules when near the tyrant. More than a "tacked on feel" in the list
Rhinox riders are possibly more like a single model than units
Fixes to the ranking problem and a tighting to the spikefists. they have quite a few army wide rules
Dogs of war rule is in there. so far.
Slaughtermaster wont require a Tyrant to use them
Change to leadbelcher fire rule
Hunter cannot shoot and move
Ogres have same base armour save for gut plates
Bulls Bulls as of now are cheaper with more default gear.
Gnoblar are the same in points.
Ironguts are now the elite unit of hungry ogres they are.
The magic items and big names are getting the same treatment as VC. butchers are getting overhauled completely.
"nowhere to run!" gnobular rule that allows gnoblars to rally at the end of a flee move if they flee through ogres. they take d6 casualties.
GUT MAGIC gutmagic is gone, replaced by bound spells that effect the unit the butcher is in, with a ranged spell. level equals spells known. they are bought (ingredients)as of now they also impart a MR equal to the level they are. lord is a level 3, hero can be 1 or 2. only one per unit. one item for lord causes enemy wizards to roll every dice they generate and lose them on a 6 (hungry maw) then the number eaten modifies the roll on the ogres miscast list. item last whole game and counts as an army wide rule. 100pts
now its current incarnation is a magic item at 100pts. it confers an army wide rule. like the warshrine. no roll at the beginning of anything. every turn the opponent rolls his/her PD or DD and throws away any 6. those are the maws now. dice held in items dont roll. unless they get used. the pool gets rolled. anytime your hot finger touches a dice to roll in the magic phase, on a 6 its gone, including MR. this does NOT effect the OK player. to be clear. any.of.it. for every 6 rolled you keep track of it. this modifies the roll on the miscast table. the new one you force the victim....er wizard to roll on. it looks like the OK one now..
your level equals the spells you can buy off a list of spells. the spells are ingredients. troll fat is an ingredient that gives regen. on a 2+ the butcher gets regen, takes a wound on a 6+, on a 6+ the units the butcher is in get regen, he takes a wound. each model takes a wound on a 6+ no saves, (maw is hungry).
butcher will take a wound on a when its eaten by him. always if its the unit. also its RIP as now. one effect a unit, at a time.
Also some mentioned a while back:
Iron fists give an extra attack and a 6+ armour save. Core choices will be cheaper by around 5 points.
Sources of all Ogre Kingdoms rumours so far (oldest to newest):
No idea if this has been heard before, but I heard from someone in my gaming club at Warhammer World that Ogre Kingdoms are currently being worked on for release in 2010, and that - playtesting permitting - they might be getting a "Mammoth of the Plains" as a large monster (likely a mount/rare choice, like a stegadon).
First of all there will be a new book this year. But dont hold your breath as we are looking towards the end of the year.
Hunters will be able to take up to 4 sabretusks, this will let them break ranks. Also been told he will get the option for a giant cave bear style pet instead of sabretusks. The idea of being able to pull monsters towards himself after a succesful shot was also brought up but he has no idea how far he will be able to pull it.
Leadbelchers will have a unit champ who can shoot grapeshot when charged.
Gut magic will get alot nastier. Did not say how.
Big names will become like Vamp bloodline powers and not have to be taken from magic items allowance.
Finally a vastly improved magic item list, with a few different banners worth taking. (Rumour of one that turns ward saves of any enemies in combat into reg saves)
Look for better equipment, the option to fight in a new formation and significantly fewer restrictions. Shame about the changes to fear.
I'm quite excited, both with regards to timing (though I'll have to juggle painting my chaos AND ogres while changing diapers) and the book contents. And the models.
OK is next and ive seen the work in progress butcher rules.
unit upgrade, does differnt effects depending on who they eat. always have gnobulars effect of +1 to rally and tie breaker. ogre stats. two hand weapons. rooth gnobular for one reroll.
Just in from an inside source, GW will be creating a plastic rhinox kit when the new OK book comes out. (cant say when it will come out) With this kit you will be able to make a scrap launcher, rhinox ridden by a bull or a third variant that will be a gnoblar fighting platform.
2 uses rhinox kit, with one being a mount (with a irongut rider, with parts for a lord or butcher) and the other bieng a scrap launcher. the launcher also acts and a platform and charoit
"hidden" rule for hunter and trappers. 4+ to see at long range
i do belive they get extra rules when near the tyrant...
Are the Rhinox riders (ruleswise) bought as a single model or is it a cavalry unit?
i see currently single
What do you think of the new models (i think you mentioned you had seen the greens).
Is there an Ogre Kingdoms pumbagor we need to look out for ?
i think the razorgor is a victim of bad paintjob and lighting. i rather like it. its differnt than anything eles. i have to say that if you hate the razorgor then i fear you might hate the rhinox. i can say one thing. the scraplauncher will be a ***** better to assemble than the current one
Do you know, by chance, if OK are getting any new army wide special rule?
fixes to the ranking problem and a tighting to the spikefists. they have quite a few army wide rules
Are any of the current models other than the scraplauncher going to be replaced?
Lets just say if you wanted to start ogres before May, buy the battalion and a box of iron guts, you are gonna want to fill out the rest of your army with the new kits being released.
i can say that the battalion will change. bulls as of now are cheaper with more defalt gear. gnobular are the same in points. a small change in int though. ironguts are now the elite unit of hungry ogres they are. new gourger, metal and disturbing. the magic items and big names are getting the same treatment as VC. butchers are getting overhauled completly.
gutmagic is gone, replaced by bound spells that effect the unit the butcher is in, with a ranged spell. level equals spells known. they are bought (ingrediants)as of now they also impart a MR equal to the level they are. lord is a level 3, hero can be 1 or 2. only one per unit. one item for lord causes enemy wizards to roll every dice they generate and lose them on a 6 (hungry maw) then the number eaten modifys the roll on the ogres miscast list. item last whole game and counts as an army wide rule. 100pts
it started out as a army wide rule. it was just there and on. it did nothing against dwarf armys or tk. it hamstringed PD heavy armys.
now its current incarnation is a magic item at 100pts. it confires an army wide rule. like the warshrine. no roll at the begining of anything. every turn the oppenent rolls his/her PD or DD and throws away any 6. those are the maws now. dice held in items dont roll. unless they get used. the pool gets rolled. anytime your hot finger touches a dice to roll in the magic phase, on a 6 its gone, including MR. this does NOT effect the OK player. to be clear. any.of.it. for every 6 rolled you keep track of it. this modifies the roll on the miscast table. the new one you force the victim....er wizard to roll on. it looks like the OK one now..
of course im paraphrasing. and its subject to change or not even make it in. its one of the argued rules. they could leave it out and still be left with a very decent (fun) book.
your level equals the spells you can buy off a list of spells. the spells are ingredients. troll fat is an ingredient that gives regen. on a 2+ the butcher gets regen, takes a wound on a 6+, on a 6+ the units the butcher is in get regen, he takes a wound. each model takes a wound on a 6+ no saves, (maw is hungry).
once again paraphrased with the "anything can change at this point" disclaimer
butcher will take a wound on a 6 when its eaten by him. always if its the unit. also its RIP as now. one effect a unit, at a time.
i like the "headless thrashing gnobular" MM myself
"nowhere to run!" gnobular rule that allows gnobulars to rally at the end of a flee move if they flee through ogres. they take d6 casualties. it has been also brought to my attention that theres 2 different sets of playtest rules out there. nothing too different.
no giant remake. no changes to plastics current. a *possible* plastic set for tyrant/slaughter master. i wont mention price but its on par with the minotaur lord, if it happens.
only few questions for you to clarify if you know....can characters ride a rhinox? do ogres have same base armour save for gut plates? and do leadbelcher change their fire rule? can the hunter shot and move?
yes, yes yes
and no but theres a few things that will make you feel better about that. i dont think you will see a hunter without a few trapper units.
maneaters are too cool to leave out. who do you think cares for and raises all those rhinox? who cares for the slave giants? gnoblars thats who. yhettes getting a ward save? regen? no. how bout an aura of frost. expect more help from the mountains too.
the list is very mid level compared to .. demons. but dont get me wrong. its competitive. you cant min max and have a strong list. theres no game winning troop. and although a deathstar is possible its not needed.
and yes there is a thirster killer. im just not ready to talk about it.
i will say the hunter and trappers will be one possible way to kill those models.
Models, in order of plausibility (imo): *New Rhinox Plastic Kit, accomodating a Rider, Scraplauncher, and another variant. *New Gorger model. *New Unit model (a shocker, given the trend in recent books) . *New Yhetees. May be plastic.
Rules: *Gut Barge is a standard Impact Hit upon charging, for all Ogres, not unlike Minotaurs. *Butchers are more traditional in their use of "divine" magic, with regards to bound spells, etc. Not "wizards", as such, anymore. *Rhinox Riders are in, in both forms, and as mounts. *Bellowers are a mite altered. *There's a new character. *The Scraplauncher has a bolt-thrower variant, as well as a gnoblar-transport variant. *More Gnoblars! *Maneaters face some... interesting changes.
This is really great Hragged, thanks for the effort. It's fun to run the rumour mill!
I don't suffer from mental instability. In fact, I enjoy it immensely.

oooo... why should we buy Ironguts? :p
This looks awesome! Cool if theres some new gnoblar twists! Good work on putting all the romours together!
Sharkbelly09 Feb 2010
Sound like some cool additions. Looking forward to rehashing my ogre army!
Zaknifa09 Feb 2010
oooo... why should we buy Ironguts?
Because they will become awesome!Or just the elites they are said to be. Either way it sounds as if things are gonna get good this year.
Also, the new changes are going to be interesting. Question though, can a buthcer cast the ingredient outside of the unit he is in (or the unit his is in)? because it seems from what i read unless i roll a 6+ only the buthcer gets the spell.
Dooks Dizzo09 Feb 2010
If anyone gets any word on Maneaters let us know ASAP! I can't imagine anything but good things for them. And since my army is based around them, I've got a lot on the line
It is sad to me that a family can be ripped apart by something as simple as wild Saber Tusks.

Yeah, just wondering if theres a reason why we should buy them before the new book? If the models wont change it seems smarter to just wait and look at the different new options, just buy what you like with according to the new rules.
And what do they mean by "Ogres have same base armour save for gut plates" +6 armorsave with gutplate or nothing same as before?
Randroid09 Feb 2010
It is probably a typo for "some". I expect we'll see a base save for Gut Plates making Ironguts a 4+ save!

Randroid -- i was waiting to see you chime in!
All I can say, gang, is I'm excited.
I did recently buy three gorgers with another purchase planned... I want to use them in my Skrag list at the end of the month...
I also bought a metal scraplauncher... waaah!
Oh well. The scrappie is still a beaut of a model. And I kinda like the gorgers too. I just know whatever GW comes up with for the metal (and disturbing) gorger will be amazing!
Time to start feasting...

Must-save-dem-monnee. Now, this gives a nice feeling to see an evolution appear (my first time having an army that is goint to be updated). Lucky to give my archrival (dem evil Darkelves) some payback lessons!
Mercules09 Feb 2010
Scanned the rumors over at Warseer and I have been keeping my eyes out for more one numerous boards. So far it sounds like the theme/feel/fluff of the Ogre Kingdoms won't be taking too big a hit and the power of our list will be shifting some.
I am willing to bet the comments on Ironguts becoming more elite means a shift to the Special slot, but with some improvments. Hopefully a better AS and WS. I would okay with that as it also seems Bulls will come with some additional equipment. Right now the mandatory bull unit with nothing but Ironguts seems rather unfluffy.
The changes to Gut Magic sound like they might require a shift in tactics but it also sounds as if we might be getting some additional magic defense.

Mawchild09 Feb 2010
The problem with IG moving to the special slots is that we then have an insanely limited selection of troop choices. Its small as it is especially with the restrictions on Gnobs (trappers and normal).
Mercules09 Feb 2010
I think it is obvious some of the restrictions are being lifted.
Bulls will also be coming with more default gear which hopefully means that they will get better choices for optional gear.
I am hoping that the rumor of Sabertusk packs in the 4-5 range is true and that they become a Core choice. We will have to see. If IGs do move to special they would have to offer us something else within Core.
Universal Battle - Click here to play! Animosity 6 - Scales of the North starts January!
Talonz09 Feb 2010
I bloody well hope IGs do not become special! I fill my special slots already, theres no room for them there!
If they do, bulls better get GW options. Or more preferred, move IGs to non-core selection.
Eg Giant-tripper09 Feb 2010
Or could Leadies lose the potential for such destruction, become more reliable, and get moved to core? D6 S3/4 autohits each?
I don't suffer from mental instability. In fact, I enjoy it immensely.
Gutlord Inquisitor: FORUM FIGHT! Me, I'm betting on the stronghold. Sure, they're outnumbered with thick skulls, stubborn bull-headedness and an inflated sense of self-worth, but hey, they're Ogres.
Mercules09 Feb 2010
I don't know. I could see them shifting things around a bit. Not wish listing but I could see them moving a few things about. Maybe IGs will remain Core and they will improve Bulls enough people might want to take them. Then again the comment about them becoming more Elite is disturbing. If they make Bulls better but also improve IGs then what is going to encourage more Bulls than IGs which is the fluffy OK army. Then again I almost never see Saurus in LM armies and they are supposed to BE the army with skinks helping out. Not the other way around.
My thought was similar to Eg Giant-trippers, that maybe IGs will go to Special and one of the Special troops will move to Core. Leadbelchers who lost their potential of 10 shots a piece but gained more reliable shooting could fit in core, after all, Archers/X-bows/Handguns are Core choices for many armies.
Universal Battle - Click here to play! Animosity 6 - Scales of the North starts January!
barlio09 Feb 2010
I don't buy the idea of Ironguts going to Special. If they get an improved AS and WS along with access to more Standards, but their costs remains the same then why should they go to Special? Now if they get these buffs and become Stubborn then yeah I'll deal with the loss of those Special slots.
I can't imagine 'Belchers going to Core. That would open up the possibility of a Shooty Ogre army and we all know that would cause many kittens to die.
Your mom goes to college
Mercules09 Feb 2010
We already have the option.
Tyrant with BoH Hunter x3 3 x Bulls 3 x GnFighters 3x GnTrappers 2x 3 LBs 2x Scraplaunchers 2x 3 MEs with BoH
Only the Bulls don't shoot in that army.
Joking aside, might I ask a serious question?
How many Bulls units are in your standard army and how many Irongut units?
To follow that up. If you answered with IG>Bulls then why should IGs get better AND remain Core?
Yes we need more Core choices, but we also need an army that resembles the description in the Army Book. (and again I ask you to ignore LM who are only played by vile powergamers... no seriously;) )
Universal Battle - Click here to play! Animosity 6 - Scales of the North starts January!
barlio09 Feb 2010
I stand corrected *repeated bowing*.
As in regards to your Bulls vs Ironguts question, I'll answer a question with a question. I would say that if the IGs are better, but remain the same price, and Bulls become better for less points then shouldn't Core balance itself out? I think Core needs more options, but really what can you do with Core outside of Bulls, IGs, and Gnoblars Fighters/Trappers?
*Following rumor/wishlist logic* If Special remains the home to 'Belchers, Scraplauncha, and Yehtees, but gains the Gnoblar Fighting Platform thing what else is there to add? If Rhinox Riders, Maneaters, Hunter, and Slavegiant occupy Rare then the state of the Special Slot should be the "Really Out there" elements of the Ogre Kingdoms (i.e. Yehtees, Scraplauncha, maybe Gorgers, etc...). I think Leadbelchers could become Core, but if that is the case then Special is going to be a pretty weird place to visit (granted the IGs don't get moved there).
I don't know what to think. With the trend of the big beasties in the other books (HPA, Ghorgon, Cygor, etc...) we can count on their being something comparably nasty (i.e. Rhinox and/or Hunter in Rare), but outside of the Rare Slots then I think we're treading into unknown territory. This is a Rumor thread, but isn't every Rumor thread just a "What Could/Should Be" Thread disquised?
Your mom goes to college
Eg Giant-tripper09 Feb 2010
I could feasibly see Bulls, Leadies and 'Guts in core, with Gorgers or even 'Eaters being moved to special. I think we need to see more units with actual Ogres in them, and I'm slightly concerned the new book will put too much emphasis on all sorts of wierd and wonderful beasties.
I don't suffer from mental instability. In fact, I enjoy it immensely.

Just read some 8th edition rumours on Bugmansbrewery.
Thread is called "New 8th Edition Rumours" at the main fire place. Here`s a link:
Jamodini. That is not good news. The TK figures I read somewhere were removed from the cases at WW, as they were said to be on 'campaign'. So, that could be on the cards. I find it quite funny that someone at WW said 'not many people collect Ogres'. I would have said that exactly about TK's. How many armies did you see of them, even 3/4 years ago, let alone now. Not many.
Maybe its time fro Stronghold members to start writing to GW, expressing your interest in OK, and asking for a new book. I know some people will say it does not matter, but if they got two to three hundred letters come into the design studio asking about a new OK book, and expressing interest in any new OK figures, then GW as a company might just take note. Of course this won't happen because a lot of people on this forum won't do it. This I think is a shame, as GW want to sell models, and if they get enough interest then they might just listen. They might not, but if no one bothers we'll never know.?
Time for a light snack.............bring the prisoners here.

I don't think we have too much to worry about at the moment. I think Ogres are more popular than ever ... we get tons of new members every month, we have our own webzine, great forum, decent tournament showings, and more.
We might not be the next book out but I am sure we'll get a new one eventually.

Ogres unpopular? Perhaps at a tournament level, but even then you might see one or two armies. But alot of people who will run something hard like Daemons at a tourny also have an Ogre army they like to pull out for a game with friends. I've said it once, I'll say it again, rumours are just a lot of hot air and fearmongering.

Don't know if this helps but I was in a GW shop the other day talking about the rhinox riders on the Forgeworld pages.....the guy said to hold off buying them or the scraplauncher for a bit. I couldn't get anymore out of him but I take it as solid that it was a strong indication the new models are in the pipeline......

It would be a wise -and logical- step for GW to manufacture a Rhinox Rider/Scraplauncher optional boxed set.. I do believe we might actually see new Ogre Kingdom models due to release this year..

I don't know your shopkeeper, but I honestly don't think they know any more than we do. When I worked in retail in my younger years, the average worker at the store level didn't have any more insider knowledge than anyone else.
Strange that he would talk you out of buying something regardless.

I do believe those who work at the GW stores get the "heads up" on a new army and new models a pair of weeks before we know they're hitting the stores.. call it a sort of "prepairing to sell the new product.."
Strange that he would talk you out of buying something regardless.
I find that odd as well.. I work with costumers almost every day, and I've never talked a customer out of buying something.. I've suggested something else if we didn't had the plant/garden tool on storage, but never talked someone out of buying.. that's the worst thing one can do to a sale..

ThatRickGuy23 Apr 2010
Unless you are buying an item like a Forge World model where the vending store gets no portion of the sale. They are just taking the step of ording the item for you and handling the transaction. You can do the same thing from your own PC.
Now, if you come back in a month or three, and they have a GW box kit sitting on the shelf, then they'll get their cut.
I didn't think it was that strange anyway - I get on with the guy well and he knows I am a strong enthusiast of most things GW. He had no reason to say that to me other than that there were potentially some cool plastic kits coming that would make me kick myself if I brought the existing ones.....
Hi Guys first time on the site and wanted to say hi and share some information........
Im a die-hard Ogre player AND own an independent GW store in the UK. My GW trade rep has notified me this week that the Ogre battalion box set has now become direct sale only and they are running down stocks of bulls and leadbelchers. This can mean only one thing as in my experience this only happens when they are getting rid of a race (like the squats in 40K) or if the next (or one after next) army book released is going to be Ogre Kingdoms!
They are not getting rid of Ogres guaranteed so considering they alternate between a 40K codex and a fantasy rulebook release and tomb kings are this month, we should definitely see the new ogres at the latest by the end of the summer. Hope that makes people happy!

To be fair Dwarves and us are up for the running for next army book. with the change from metal to plastic GW are again taking the 'opportunity' to clear out some of their old stock and some of the more noteable metal miniatures that are being deleted and not being re-released in resin are in the dwarves range. On that note - I expect some of the ogre metal boxed sets to go and not come back soon as well.
Ps I know, I know I have personally shouted at GW about deleting old miniatures rather than running old alongside new

I would be surprised if they dropped the metal ME models as they are such cool models(Ninja Ogre!!!)
the Tyrant and Butcher will likely be Plasticised as they are quite bulky.

A couple of quotes from Avian over on the Warhammer forums that i couldn't see posted (I may be going blind).
"I strongly belive that man-boobs are going to be THE fashion accessory of the autmn season."
If Gut Magic doesn't essentially become a standard lore (along the lines of what happened to TK magic) and the unique miscast table doesn't get removed, I will eat all your hats.
