so the nominations are in and it's time to start voting for who the Ogre Stronghold members want to award the coveted title of Hobby Hero to this year.

Category 8 is designed to celebrate the same achievements as the Best Ogre Army award, only not being limited to the Ogre Kingdoms armies. This award encompassess all other WFB armies, as wel as armies from other game systems. This year saw literally only two armies nominated for the award, and both were produced by the same member (I'll try to stay impartial ;)) So the nominations for best other army are:

(thanks to Wildcard for providing the blurb text about my nomination!)

what can I say? - you can vote for any member as long as its Corai   It says something a bit special when the members of the stronghold suggest Corai for two seperate projects.  Both of the armies under consideration here have made jaws drop to the floor, and choosing between them is going to be hard.  Both of these armies have been nominated for best army awards, and have gathered great praise from all who have seen it.  All I can say is that, like all of you, don't you just wish you could paint like this?

1:Corai for The Fae Folk Wood elf Army

2: Corai for The Chariots of Fire Chaos Army

The polls will stay open until 20th December at which point we will crown this year's Hobby Heroes!

Thanks
Corai

I couldn't pick both were SOOO good... I had to go with CoF though, that shaggoth and dragon was just too cool.
BOOM! Hur hur hur...

Proud leader of the Ironskin Tribe.
I said before, and I´ll say it again and again- Fae Folk.
An excellent combination of great painting, modelling and backround, which is what makes the best army in my eyes

Da Green Menace (31 played): Wins:15 (6 massacres)   Draws:3   Losses:13 (6 massacres)
The Rockhide Tribe (Ogre Kingdoms): Wins:7 (3 massacres)  Draws:2  Losses:10 (4 massacre)

The Rockhide Tribe. Now in Color!
The idea was original, and it's execution was perfect :) The fae folk were great, but pale in comparison :)

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.

And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.

For me, it must be the WE. The best army I have seen this year and probably longer. Chapeau again Corai.
Winner Last Man Standing II Princess Kosima Neferher of Lybaras (daughter of High Queen Khalida)
Runner up Last Man Standing Grollorg the Greedy Hand (slain by Scroth Skullrippa's Scalf)
Former King of the Maw Sho 'Lurrp IX. (assassinated)
Former King of the Maw Tusar III. (slain by Barney's Khor´garahut)

Do you know Bertram Beisenblitz and Speedus Killus? Find them in my Gnoblog at http://www.ogrestronghold.com/forum/index.php?topic=10084.msg132890#msg132890
 both the nominations  i don't know... still, worthy winner Corai

My vote's on the fae folk, as brilliant as the Chariots of Fire stuff was the Fae Folk were breath taking and achieved with techniques i feel i could approximate so at the same time a little more down to earth (painting that is, not at that levelling modelling wise, nowhere near)
Took me 2 weeks to realise i have a trade gnoblar, Squinky ->

Got to be the Fae Folk, the conversions and frequent updates really made this entertaining for me  :D

You can't be old and wise, and have youthful memory... even if you are FF

Achievements 39/101

Latest: 9. Sigh! - lose more than 3 ogres to any one casting of a spell that involved you taking an initiative test as part of it's resolution

W/L/D : 9/10/2
Fae Folk. I am at a loss for words. I hope I don't sound arrogant here, but congrats Corai :P

Evii, you speak sense

This is Livalil. He is the little devil on my shoulder.

This is Edward the Vampire Gnoblar. He is the king of epic fail.

Both of your armies are superb, Corai, but quite honestly the way you modelled the tree folk so that they appeared like natural trees and faeries at the same time is really impressive.
38/101 ogre achievements

Vote for the best army list vs. the Dwarves.

I love both of the armies but the mechanical dragon and shaggoth really did it for me so the chariots of fire it is

thanks
