I have just started a new army - ORCS. I want to convert all the models so that they wear cloaks and have all sorts of shaman-like features. I have found lots of bits for the project, including, ogre parts, khemri parts BFSP tents, etc. Here are the first pics of some of the conversions, my bits box and the first "finished" model. I have at last found a use for the tents from battle for skull pass: I cut out the skulls and use them on the bases. Please let me know what you think, and ideas are of course welcome.

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.
And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.

They look pretty darn cool. A might undertaking though, with the number of boyz you'll have to do (but after doing VC you're probably used to it).

Looks like this is going to be an interesting gnoblog. I like the painted orc.

Yes, it's alot of conversion i'll have to pull off before this army is finished, but my spirits are up, and I have fun so far at least. I have finished two more boyz and done their bases too. I think the bases look pretty cool, but I'm not sure yet, whether I will add some sort of plants to them. The hooded cloaks that I have sculpted have turned out okay when painted, so that's nice, otherwise I would have skipped the hole idea.

Love the savage styling, have wanted to do a similar theme myself but lacked the gumption and skills that you clearly have
Keep up the good work!

I actually already have an O&G army made up of old GW models that don't fit too well with the new ones. The army I'm working on now will be made up entirely of the newest edition. I do however have an old Warboss on Wyvern, that I might use once in a while.

hmmm, didn't got anything painted except for my house today... My wife forced me. She doesn't quite understand the importance of painting orcs.

I have painted 3 more boyz - only need to finish bases and paint their trousers. I decided to add static grass to the bases, since I think it looked a bit weird with only rocks. Next up is the command group which I will start today.

That's so going to be a great army! The theme is very interesting and unusual. Leaving so much space for making your lords and heroes... Damn, just can't wait to see more pics
Thorgrizzly24 Jul 2008
Yes, the lords and heroes will be exciting to make. I already have four boar riding bosses two shamans and a couple of bosses on foot. When I get borred of making boyz, I will make a boss.
I have finished painting the house, so now it's all ORCS!

Old one24 Jul 2008
Have you made the list already btw?
Thorgrizzly25 Jul 2008
Well, I almost never play the same list twice, since I don't play tournaments, and I have so many armies and so many models that I want to field. I think it's fun to play a new army everytime. But I bought the entire army from a guy on the internet 4 month ago. By then I made a list, but I don't remember the details. But I have: 25 boyz with spears and shield 25 boyz with hand weapon and shield 25 boyz with add handweapon 12 orc archers 23 black orcs 10 boar riders 1 orc chariot 4 boar riding bosses 2 (3) shamans a giant 11 trolls
So, there is alot of work to do, before the army is finished. I do however have an old O&G army, so finished units will have a chance to go into battle earlier.

I haven't had the time to work that much on the army the last couple of days due to tour de France, kids and house painting, and tomorrow i'm going to an Iron Maiden koncert - YEEEAAHHH. I have converted and basecoated a commandgroup for the add. hw. boyz and made some bases though. Hopefully I have new models finished so that I can post pics on monday or tuesday.

The Orcs so far are looking really good 'grizzly. I can't believe you're going to convert them all!
Looking forward to seeing more

At last I got some models painted...well they are almost done, still need to do the last details. Anyway my orc boyz with add. hand weapons got themselves a command group - nice! I would like some comments on the bases, I consider redoing them completely. Any ideas, or are they cool enough as they are? Cheers

The models are cool (you made some original conversions, very nice), but the rocks on the bases are either too big, or there are too much of them. I'd put more static grass or stick on small patches modelling sand on them to cover the rocks a bit more.

Thorgrizzly31 Jul 2008
Excactly what I have been thinking about (BigD). The rocks seem really big. My problem is, that I want to make the bases different from the once in my ogre army. I would really like to make them stand out, without removing focus from the model itself. I suppose I will have to use green stuff in some way. Ideas are welcome.

I don't know if the rocks are too big, or it's just that they are all up at the front of the model instead of spread around/in the back. Still, they look great.

Hmmm. the bases of the musician and the unit champion look allright. But especially the orc on the far left on the picture has to much stones. I would either remove the base or stick some static grass over it.
