Tzeentch/Khorne Demonic Legion

original thread ↗

Hello everyone!  I have been playing fantasy for around 8 years now, and have had a love affair with Tzeentch for ages.  I normally play High Elves and Dogs of War, but with the new army book for the Demons I have finally given in to the temptation of Chaos.  To help me get this army built and painted I have decided to make a blog to help motivate me to completing this army.  This is the 2500pt list I am shooting for:

Lord of Change: 635
Tzeentch's Will, Power Vortex, level 4
Herald of Khorne: 265
BSB, Banner of Sundering, Firestorm Blade, Armor of Khorne, Juggernaut
Herald of Tzeentch: 145
     Power Vortex
Blue Scribes: 81

18x Blood Letters: 246
     Full Command
18x Blood Letters: 246
     Full Command
30x Horrors: 390
     Full Command

3x Bloodcrushers: 275
     Champion, Standard, Skull Totem
6x Flamers: 210

This gives me 79 models, 13 Power Dice (plus the Scribes), and 6 Dispel Dice with MR on half my army and the Standard of Sundering.  Should be a solid a fun list to play, and hopefully fun for my opponent.

Anyways on to the fun stuff, this is the progress of my army so far (I apologize half the pictures are over 100kb, so I have linked them.  Its late so I don't have the desire to downsize them, might get around to it later):

Look forward to seeing what you guys think!
Well I know next to nothing about the Demon army, so can't comment on the composition, but I really like the work on the horrors, it is shaded/highlighted really well, keep it up :)
You can see my OK Gnoblog "Chasers of the Fang" Here
I don't know about the fun in the list, but I'm not really into the magic fase of warhammer.
in 2500 points it's okay, but please don't remove the rare choices just to get 2000 points.

The horrors look ace.

Now all we need is the 7th edition rule that said if the models are killed they don't get to fight and we WOULD be a broken army! lol

Ogre achievements: 41/101
The horrors are incredible!!!! :D I love the way you've painted them :)

I'll be following this gnoblog :D

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.

And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.
I agree that the horrors look really great. I love the way the shades of blue flow into each other.

Nice scroll work on the scribes  8)

I know you've tried and figured out your scheme for your Bloodletters, but try one out in your blue. Really think it could pull it all in and work. I personally cant wait to see your work on a Lord of Change. And hopefully you'llstick with it.. unlike those Dogs of War  ;)
I love your models! However I am bit uncertain on the blue scribes :| I love the conversion work you've done for them; it's just, I'm a sucker for fluff, and in their fluff it says they are both horrors... Anyway, aside from that, your work is awesome! :D

@ Domun Agri: I might try painting my bloodletters blue, would certainly be interesting.  We shall see how that turns out.  Also, I still have my Dogs of War, they are on my self and 1,000pts built 1/3 painted.

@Just-Josh: Well they are both Horrors, the beauty of Tzeentch is he IS the Lord of Change.  Such his servants shouldn't really be expected to assume the same shape every time.  He is a Horror, just a fancy one with a robe and staff.

@At the Rest: Thank you everyone for your comments, I played a proxy-test game today against a friend and have several changes planned for the list.  I don't have much update model wise, had a busy weekend, but will have a rough battle report up tonight.
I like the paint scheme. :)

The army compostion...hmm, should be a barrelr of laughs for you...not so much for your opponent ;)

The Blue Scribes are niggling at me also however. Yes he IS the Lord of change. But Horrors CONSTANTLY change their form. I don't even know if they can keep the same form for long enough to put clothes on. Also they are essentially mindless pawns of tzeentch. the Blue Scribes were two of the ONLY horrors he imbued with some personality because he's afraid of treachery. I don't know, I'm rambling. I just think they should both be horrors.

While I love the blues on your horrors, I don't like that they are all blue. The one coming out of the other just gets lost in the sameness.

Now you've made some kinda background for your scribes, I can accept that they're not both horrors :P  Good reason ;)

I have only just noticed your list at the top, and I think it is an absolutely great list! :) Really quite solid :D However, and this is probably my poor counting ability, but how do you get 13 power dice?

2 pool + 5 lord of change + 3 herald + 3 horrors

@Reg06: I have been debating between doing half the horrors in purples, we shall see as I continue to flesh out the unit.
Awesome :) I forgot the ones for the horrors :| lol!
