A quick update (kind of)!
I got to play in a Warbands Tournament on Friday the 18th, and did, as I expected, terribly. There were only 3 opponents, my brother (Empire), Mark (Skaven), and a fellow named Daniel (Orcs/Goblins). My brother, Mark, and myself had only been playing for about a month, Daniel had been playing (from what he told my brother) close to 9 years or so.
My list was probably not the most competitive thing ever, but I was playing for fun as is the goal with my army, no MSU for me

150 - Butcher
Skull Mantle
90 - Maneater
Heavy Armor
Cathayan Longsword
155 - Bulls x3
Full Command
105 - Bulls x3
My first game was against Mark's Skaven. I had played him twice before with less than stellar results and this time was no exception.
Hidden Objective: Annilihiation
In his 500 point army he had:
2 Warplock Engineers (I think that's what they're called)
1 Warp Lightning Cannon
2 Blocks of 20 Clanrats
1 Block of 25 Slaverats
1 Rat Ogre/Slaver
His general idea was to put the Engineers in the Clanrat units and use them in in conjunction with the Warp Lightning Cannon to blast me to smitherines, which he did.
He deployed one unit of Clanrats with an Engineer on my left flank, in front of my full command Bulls, and the rest of his forces were deployed in the center in front of my naked Bulls (and Maneater) along with my Butcher. The Slaverats held the entire game, along with the Rat Ogre, which effectively tied up the bulls in front of the Warplightning cannon (which didn't run from Braingobbler

) which spelled my demise. I whittled the Clanrats down but was unsuccesful in killing them off. The Rat Ogre killed the Butcher, and the Clanrats on the left all but destroyed my bulls on the left and wiped them out in combat.
I faired better than I had the last few times I played him, but was once again, unsuccesful. Loss 1 down.
My next opponent was my Brother's Empire. I had beaten him in a practice game before the tournament, but didn't do so well this time.
Hidden Objective: Annilihiation
His list is:
4 Knights
10 Archers
15 Swordsmen (I believe) with a detachment of 6 Handgunners
10 Swordsmen
Great Cannon
We pretty much deployed on my right side, with the cannon in the far left, which he informed me later, was to provide crossfire if I broke through his lines.
I lost a few Ogres to shooting especially once I charged the Handgunners (probably not too smart), the full command unit fled and wasn't able to rally in time. The naked Bulls with the Maneater managed to destroy the Archers and a large majority of the Swordsmen, while the Butcher killed 3 of 4 Knights (2 with Bonecruncher, 1 in combat).
It was nice playing my brother as we're probably close tactical knowledge wise. Loss 2 complete!
The final game was against Daniel's Orcs/Goblins. This was the battle that I pretty much knew I wasn't going to win. While he was a very nice opponent, I also kind of felt he was out of place skill wise, he had alerady massacred my brother, and only tied against Mark (which, I partly attribute to his list).
Hidden Objective: Annihilation
His list was:
2 Shamans
10 Night Goblin Archers
10 Night Goblin Archers
6 or so Feral Ork Boar Boys
5 or so Feral Orks
Bolt Thrower
I faired a little better than I thought I would in this one, but still got massacred I believe. This was another fairly right heavy deployment for both of us, and I managed to scare a unit of Archers off the table and charged the Feral Orks behind them, and beat them. One of the Shamans blew himself up, and the other ran around for the large majority of the game. The Boars destryoed one unit of Ogres, turned around and wiped out the Butcher with the help of the Archers, and that was pretty much it. I came close to destroying 50% of his Unit Strength but didn't quite have enough.
All in all a less than stellar set of games, but I'm learning slowly and hope to have 1000 Points painted soon. I've made up my mind, I will not be playing MSU style. Everyone at the store thinks it is "the only way" to play Ogres. But I'm not to concerned about winning, so this isn't a big deal.
My goal so far is to have:
1 Turquoise Pants Tyrant/Bruiser (Maneater at the moment)
2 Green Pants Butchers
6 Blue Pants Bulls, Full Command
6 Red Pants Bulls, Full Command
6 Ironguts (color yet to be determined), Full Command
3 Black Pants Leadbelchers, Possible Command
25 Gnoblars (not sure what to do with these yet)
I need to build another Butcher, 2 Leadbeltchers, and finish another Bull for the Red Pants, and another Irongut.
That puts me at approximately 1500 (using a Bruiser) before getting into upgrades (other than the command on the Bulls/Ironguts).
Any ideas, comments, concerns, etc. would be much appreciated, also, if anyone has some quick, non-MSU style tactics, please let me know either here or via PM.
