Just starting my gnoblog not got any fluff or names yet, but here's some photos of what I've done so far.
I took a few photos but these are the only ones that didn't come out blurry.
I'm going to add some symbols to the pants maybe a tattoo or two on some of them. Also considering adding some blood on and dripping from the weapons.
I'll be running a 3 butcher (two I'll be making myself) and tyrant (empire maneater) list if the army gets big enough I'll be using greasus as i have the model but thats way in the future

The greenstuff looks very good. The painting too, though I think you'll need a wash on the metal, because it is too shiny. I love the skin.

Nice, the skin is really good Although I would echo Lexy and say try to weather the metal or at least give it a wash because at present I think it lets the rest of the model down.

Hey Davespaceman! I like the eyes on your ogre. It's great the way you've painted the eyes to make him look as though he's looking sideways. I can't say how I'd do blood on the gutplate/metal areas, but weathering the metal is easy peasy as you probably already know. Just wash it with thinned down inks- different coloured inks will give different effects. Blacks and dark browns for a dirty/tarnished effect, browns, chestnuts, and oranges for a rust effect. Thin the ink about 50/50 with water and control where you put it (cracks and crevices). In fact, I'd be tempted to thin it down even further and apply more washes of less pigment rather than fewer washes of more pigment. That way the pigment builds up in layers for a subtler effect. Between layers, I'd be drybrushing with boltgun metal or similar- but not flicking the brush back and forth- overbrushing- dipping the brush in paint and wiping it off, as with standard drybrushing, but applying the paint with an overbrushing technique. This way, little specks of paint won't land on other bits of the model you've already finished. So it's- overbrush, wash, overbrush, wash etc. until you get the effect you like. You could even wash with different colours each time to get a really deep effect.

The skin collour of the Ogre is realy nice. Brown fits the Ogre well.
The Teeth are white and for my feeling too bright. Maybee make the teeth darker, brown/yellow makes the teeth less bright.

Davespaceman03 Jun 2008
Ive started a fluff story about my tyrants' life. Here's the first draft of the first part let me know what you think.
I was born in a small tribe, high in the mountains raised solely by my mother. As for my father Cobb he left when I was young. He went back travelling the world as a mercenary. He didn't leave much to ma and me. Just an old club and an empty bottle of booze. Now, I don't blame him cause he run and hid But the meanest thing that he ever did Was before he left, he went and named me Jayne
Ma raised me the best she could but with a name like Jayne I had to grow up quick and I grew up mean. Being an only child I got well fed and I grew big in the early years of my life I got in to lots of fights and became quite adept at armed and unarmed combat. Every time a newcomer to our tribe arrived theyd pick on me due to my name. Their mistake. By the time I was a young bull Id killed/eaten more than some bruisers.
One day a maneater (Gol Headtwister) came to our tribe and told me stories of the various lands that lay beyond our mountain. These tales along with the ones I remember my father telling me when I was young inspired me to go out in to the world myself. So I accompanied the maneater on his next trip to the lands of men.
As we travelled we joined with a small group of merchants who paid us to protect them on the way to their home some where in the west called the empire. Along the way I saw many different races and creatures we killed and ate a few not as many as wed have liked but the merchants were in a rush and their pay was good and we could always come back.
We arrived in the empire in a large town we took our money from the merchants and we went for a drink few places would serve and I wondered if it was the way I dressed Gol seemed to dress similar to these manlings so I thought Id try.
We found a tailor who measured me up and did a nice job so good I still wear the same clothes today with one or two patch jobs. We paid the manling and went to a bar we sat outside as it was built for these little bearded lings that werent too friendly but liked a drink and liked our gold. I later found out these were dwarfs or Dawi as they referred to themselves.
We spent a long time in that bar whilst Gol got us some work. From a rich manling land owner who was having trouble with beastmen two different tribes had been living on his land and causing trouble the money was good and it wasnt far.
The landowner had recruited a number of lings to assist in freeing his lands mainly manlings and a few ogres. We decided to take on the smaller beastmen as a warm up they didnt seem to have many tents or living quarters they just seemed to congregate round a cave. This cave was off-limits to the landowners people as it was said to have an eerie presence we could see this at night there was a greenish glow. Our plan was to charge in and smash the leader who was a hooded grey looking one then just mop up the rest.
We underestimated their numbers.
As we charged through the encampment there was screeching and scurrying everywhere we slew thirty or more and they retreated in to the cave we followed them in and were hit by a wave of bodies biting scratching and stabbing at us I saw one ogre get enveloped by them I fought my way to him but it was too late. I looked around for their leader I saw him on a rock at the back. As I fought my way to him two larger beastmen stepped in front of me they were probably my height at least but a lot thinner and covered with fur one had a morning star tied to its tail which he swung at me killing two of the little ones in the process, I dodged and drove my fist into his face flooring it. The other one grabbed me from behind and bit into my shoulder. I dropped to one knee and pulled it over me as it lay there I swung my club down on its head shattering its skull the other had regained its composure and came barrelling towards me this time I swung my club in its verminous face. It fell and I grabbed its neck and snapped it casting it to the floor I went after the grey one whom had started casting lightning from its' staff which was laying waste to the manlings. I assume he thought the big ones had taken care of me as he allowed me to get too close he turned to face me as I grabbed it by the throat it tried to speak some incantation but my grip was too tight and its life was soon ended. With there leader gone and Gol finishing off the other large ones the swarm that had seemed like hundreds disappeared down holes and in cracks. Victory was ours
The manlings sealed the cave with some black powder and we retuned to the landowner for our next task.

I was a little weary to begin with with the first person setup to your fluff but it works well and my fears were unfounded as it proved to be an interesting story! Got a little confused when beastmen miraculously became skaven though...or were they allies? Perhaps worth clearing up...

I like your skin tone, and the resculpted torsos worked well. The bangstick is cool looking. I don't like the cleavers, they are far to large and FF7y for my tastes. I've always thought that aprons look best either not existing, or being a leather color (which will pair with blood better).

Like all the models you've done, the butchers look great. Although i would highly question whether an ogre butcher would have a bright white clean apron. It would most likely be caked in blood, entrails, saliva, etc. I would add some gore to it most definately, and some leather tone low lights or soemthing.

Chuck Norris was the fourth wise man and gave Jesus his favorite gift, a beard. The other wise men were so hacked off, they got Chuck Norris removed from the bible. Mysteriously, they all later died of Roundhouse kick related injuries.

Lovely sculpting, and great idea! I agree about the belt buckle, or maybe add some sort of surround to the skull to make it more.. buckle-like? Great work on his coat, too!

Wanted to ask about your bases, how did you do the spring thaw effect? I was thinking of doing something very similar with my army too.
Looks very cool!

For the bases I used a mixture of greys on the sand basic dry brushing then I stick grass on in nice patches then glue snow to the grass.
