feeder's Gnoblog - with pics!

Here it is, my first foray into the world of Gnoblogging. I've put up a few pics of  my models before, and my re-write of the Gorger, but this is it: the first all access pass into my Ogre Army.

To start: my tiny workspace, literally a closet. Yes, I am a closet  nerd.

Bruiser/Gutlord. In my background he is the army's treasurer:




My army backgound is still in flux. I am basically going with the mercenary/murderers for hire angle, with my Tyrant being a big mean bully motivated by bloodlust, hunger and money, in that order.

I am aiming for a 2250 pt list, with a few extras for flexibility.  Here is a rough look:

4 or 5 MSU Ironguts
2 or 3 MSU Bulls with XHW or Ironfists
8 Trappers
2 MSU Leadbelchers
1 MSU Yhetees
1 Scraplauncher
2 Gorgers

The other Gorger will of course be a violent drunk like the first, and the Yhetees will be based on the bull torso, but mostly re-sculpt. The Scraplauncher will be scratch built, based on the sketch in WD300. The rest of the army will be stock GW, as I think the basic Ogre is one of GW's finest efforts, and infintely customisable.

Update time! I have mostly finished five more Ogres, which takes my painted force to 1500pts. Nice!

Update!
The 1500pt list scored to massive (massive!) victories, one 2000+ margin and the second 2100+, vs O&G. The bulk of the army comes like a tidal wave.

Anyway, enough gloating, now onwards!

Here is my second 'counts as' Gorger, Ki "Mac" Moon. He lived for many years as a solider in the Grand Army of Cathay, distinguishing himself countless times on the field of battle. The army indocrinated him into the Cult of the Celestial Emperor, and he soon abandoned his primitive Maw-god for this new patron. Ki was disgusted by his barbaric people, and his own insatiable, ravenous appetite, and used a combination of strict disciple, meditation and mysticism to control his gluttonous needs.

This technique worked well, until, on a ill-fated campaign in the desolate northern steppes, the army's food supplies ran out. The harsh landscape provided no foraging, and soon Ki snapped. In starving, blood-mad haze, he slaughtered and devoured all of his fellows, then disappeared into the night. He now leads a drunken, solitary existence on the outskirts of Ogre culture, wracked by guilt and abandoned by both his gods.

He has a Celestial Dragon tattoo on his back, depicting the dragon's reign in the heavens over the sun and the moon; and a snake devouring it's own tail on his belly, symbolising the cruel, neverending cycle of the Ogre's hunger.








Teaser WIP: Trappers!

Are those mantraps on bases meant to fill in for trappers?  So they will be roaming around the field??  Hilarious.

I like the reptilian tribal.

I have to agree with the others...The Ogre with the treasure chest and the club is awesome...I was curious how you made the club or if it was a sprue somewhere.  Well...good job on all..

It's one of the weapon options for the Giant.

Is the ax head from this newest irongut from the blorc sprue?
I like Ki Moon, but he doesn't look crazed enough to be a berserker/gorger stand in.

Well, he's not your typical out of control drunken berserker, more of a self-loathing loner with nowhere to go and nothing to lose.
