Nurgle using dipping method Gnoblog (big pic update 1/30)

original thread ↗

After watching the stronghold for about a year, I have decided to finally get involved.  I have recently started a Chaos army w/ a Nurgle influence (mark costs to much to put on everything), and will be posting the progress of the army on here.

After reading many discussions about dipping figures I decided that this would be a cool method to use on Nurgle.  I have already painted and dipped a number of models, and I have been quite pleased.  I do a little more painting and highlighting than most dipping tutorials tell you to, but they have turned out fantastic.

My wife and I's first child is due on March 22, so I have set that as my deadline to get the army finished.  I will be posting images frequently.

The army will be rusted out armor and the characters will be in green.  The army as it stands now is (for battles 2000-2500pts):

These are the units that are always in my army

Exalted Sorcerer on Demonic steed
-nurgle
-lvl4
-Gaze of Gods
-sword of might

Exalted Deamon
-nurgle
-Stream of Corruption-a puking demon causes nothing but disruption
-diabolic splendor
-lvl2

Exalted Champ  (leads block of 29 marauders w/ flails)
-Helm of many eyes
-GW
-nurgle

3 Chaos Chariots

29 marauders w/ flails
-exalted champ kills 3/4 before the enemy even gets a chance, even on opponents charge, then combat results make em run for only 203 pts

5 Chosen Knights
-warbanner

These are optional units

20 chosen warriors

5 marauder horsemen

20 plaguebearers

6 nurgling bases

2 spawn

1 Chaos Giant

1 Hellcannon (my favorite)

Ogre Mercenaries

Finished model pics will be posted tomorrow, any comments you may have would be awesome.

Thanks
Looking forward to the pics. I've seen a few people add in some shading/highlighting pre and post dipping and it always seem to inmprove the quality

thanks

here is my deamon prince.  It was made w/ a Chaos troll body, belakor wings, and a 40k Greater Deamon of Nurgle head.
exalted sorcerer, and exalted champ
great unclean one & hellcannon
2 of 3 chariots
warriors

I just realized that I have not dipped these yet (I was going to wait to do the whole unit).  I will finish the unit and dip them so you can see a before and after.
marauders
the pics you've posted so far are great i espeacially like the  daemon prince and the hellcannon, keep up the good work.

Some pretty good stuff. The dipping came out well, and it works for Nurgle. But I think you need to tone down the brightness. I think more muted/natural colors work better with dipping, or at least smaller patches of green like that.

If by RAW, you mean "Reg06's Audacious Whims", then you'd be right.

I have finished all 20 of the warriors and they are now sitting, waiting for the dip to dry.  I am really quite please w/ how they are turning out.  The stain really mutes the oranges.  I'll post pics when they are cured.  Thanks for the comments.
The conversions are really nice and I like the rusted, beaten look of the armour. However, I think the daemons could do with a dullcoet to kill the shine of the dip. If you still want them to look wet and slimey after that, paint on gloss varnish but avoid the areas like teeth and wing membrances which souldn't really shine in the same way

Thanks

Really nice modelling. I especially like the Exalted Champion.

Ghworg
2 Pet Gnoblars! I dub them Itchy and Scratchy, for reasons that are too private to divulge.
I would like to, but I can't take credit for the modeling of the champion...it's actually a gamesday piece.  It is actually one of the reasons I decided on Chaos after I did my Ogres, I just had it sitting around and liked it.
