I will be starting a Vampire Counts army for this Tale of X Gamers. The only problem is that the army will get a new armybook very soon.. March 8th to be precise. It would be kinda foolish to start building an army which will be renewed very soon. However, I know which units will be updated, so I know what I should and shouldnt buy. For starters, every army needs a Necromancer, so I will start with that. Then it needs some troops. Im not sure about the new rules for the core troops, but I have heard that Necros no longer can raise Skeletons. So I will need A LOT of zombies! Luckily I have a giant bitzbox, and I found more than enough zombies in there.
So for the first month I will be painting 500 pts from the 6th ed armylist. - 1 Necromancer - 2x 30 zombies
Next month I will boost these units to their maximum unit size of 40, paint another unit of 20 zombies and add another Necromancer and a Vampire. This way I will have a decent core army (at least enough troop to raise!) once the armybook comes out.
I have found all the zombies I need in my bitzbox, so I only had to buy a Necromancer. For this I will use the Empire Wizard plastic box, because I want my Necro to be a corrupted Empire Wizard and I just love these minis! Also, I will already have a second Necro mini for next month.
So my purchases for this month will be: - 1 Necromancer : Wizard box - 15,- - 2x 30 zombies : Bitzbox - free
With a budget of 50 euros, this will leave me with 35 euros to take to the next month.
So thats it for now. I will be posting the fluff in my Gnoblog once I have some minis painted. This way my gnoblog will tell the story of a growing army, starting with the Necromancer. Stay tuned for more!

The spelling on Fautos looks a bit odd, but I can't put my finger on it. I know it's a word you made up, but I have a feeling that somewhere it's a real word too...
Maximilian however, is awesome wrapped in awesome. More suggestions of the top of my read: Hans, Wilheim, Ranë.
I have a feeling that somewhere it's a real word too...
I had the same feeling, so I googled it. I found some restaurants and hair stylists.. but then I found a site with the meaning of some names, and Faustos is derived from Faustus, the Latin word for auspicious or lucky. So I guess I'm sticking with Faustos, untill I can think of something better that is..

I wrote the first piece of fluff, and I found out that I shouldn't try to be a writer
The Story of Maximilian
So much death, he couldnt take it anymore. Maximilian couldnt bear to see any more of his comrades die in battle. The great magic that flows through him should be able to fix a problem like this. Maximilian was an apprentice at the great college of magic at Altdorf. After many years of study he was now allowed to serve in one of the great armies of the Emperor. There he befriended many of the soldiers, who came to him for advice or healing. When these soldiers did not return from battle, Maximilian felt as though a part of him had died. That was why he went to the great libraries in the Empire to research the Winds of magic. If only there was a way to keep his friends from dying. When he returned from his journey through the Empire many of his old friends said he had changed. But although he looked old and tired, Maximilian was welcomed back in the army of his friend Claus. Before the battles he wanted to bless the soldiers. Using weird chants the regiments were giving the blessing of Maximilian. This would protect them against the weapons of their enemies and make sure they would not die. And it seemed to work! In battle, when the soldiers were struck down, they stood back up and attacked the enemy with a new ferocity. But the soldiers did not stop when their enemies fell; they started to feast upon their flesh. And not only the enemy was attacked, their former friends were next. When no living creature remained on the battlefield, the soldiers returned to their master Maximilian. Relieved that his friends returned, he did not see the twisted creatures they had become. Instead Maximilian looked upon them as his friends. Not only had he saved them from death, but he also had created peace. Formed enemies now fought besides each other. His magic could create a perfect world, if only Maximilian had more power. So he returned to the great libraries, only to be sent away like a simple peasant! These fools did not know the great plans he had, if only they could see what his magic could create. So Maximilian started to look for a place where he could create a library for himself, a place where he could expand his powers. Using his old friends he started to cross the lands, to find the new centre of the peaceful world.

What do you mean "not a great writer", that's some great fluff. It kind of reminds me of Star Wars episode 3 . That movie is great too! You really captured the right atmosphere (though perhaps it could have used a black background instead of a white one ) And those sound effects are brilliant! The models seem great too, can't wait for the pics.

So here's the next chapter in Maximilian's story.
It had been many a moon since Maximilian had retreated into exile. In his dark tower he researched the ancient magic of the Great Necromancer. After he had found this place he had sent out his friends to retrieve old books and forgotten texts from the many libraries in the empire. In these Imperial volumes however, he could not find the knowledge he craved. He wanted to create the perfect peaceful world by putting all its inhabitants under his spell, but instead he found he could not even control his friends. Their number had grown in their voyages to the Imperial libraries, and Maximilian could feel the strain in the winds of magic. Every day he felt more tired and weak, as if his life-force was being drained from his body. At his weakest moments he could feel the unholy bond between him and his friends fade, and they would collapse to the ground. To his great shock, Maximilian could not revive these twice-dead warriors. What use was his power if it would only prolong the inevitable? There had to be a way to expand his grip over the undead. In one of his books, Maximilian found the answer. The vampyres of the Old World could live unnatural long lives. Even though Maximilian had always thought of these creatures as mindless slaughtermachines, they had to know the secret of immortality for sure! Only then would Maximilian be able to create his paradise. He had to gather his friends and search the lands. But as soon as he set a foot outside of his dark home, Maximilian collapsed to the ground. Without the dark magic imbued in his tower, he would not be able to stand by himself, let alone walk the lands. He had to find a way to travel without losing his precious energy. As Maximilian ordered his undead friends to construct a vehicle the creatures started to pull together old pieces of wood. Lacking the agility of their living life, his friends constructed a rickety looking cart. It was not much to look at, but it had to do. Maximilian pulled himself into the cart and ordered his men to start their journey. He sighed as he knew this was not going to be easy.

Just discovered this blog and read it from the begingin, it's awesome,i'm hooked. When is part 3 out? You've totally inspired me, and no matter what you say,i really love your fluff writing.
The zombie rabble is awesome, and it's only just struck me that that is exactly how a zombie group should look. Not all uniform, it's not like a necromancer would only resurrect the corpses of people who happened to look the same >_< anybody (pun intended) will do.
I have to say the large zombie rabble wasn't really intentional.. it's just what's left of the previous tries to start a zombie army :p
First there was the carnival zombie army (including festive bases), then there was the Zombie Pirate army (that's why I have all those cannons just lying around..), then there was the idea of making a Zombie army entirely out of the metal models, and now all those models fit into my latest army as the stuff my necro will raise.
But I really like the 'chaotic' look of the unit. In contrast, I also really like the uniform look of the Stirland zombies, especially since I'll try to use their colourscheme as theme for the army.
And don't worry about the next part of the story. I still have some great ideas (I think so anyway..). I just want to finish the models I'm going to write about before I finish the next part of the story.

Firstly, take a dremel to it and carve off all of those pesky empire markings. And possibly remove the griffin on top of the smokestack and put the skull thingy directly on it. Things to deadify it; drape stitched together skin on it, put some zombie/skellie hands reaching out of the ground, glue on all those little bitz I'm sure you have laying around from undead boxes, put skulls on top of the Stank, at the point of each corner of the front shield.

Well, I've painted the Coach. Not much stuff was added, but I still really like how it turned out. It's not the classic 'lets add bones to everything'-undead, but a more subtle (I hope) 'we look like Imperials but we're going to eat your brains teehee'-undead.
I'm going to use this army for a 2250 pts tournament after Christmas, and I'm trying to figure out what to add. I think I should go for a Blood Knight unit of 5, so I might pick up some Chaos Knights to convert..

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.
And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.

Any suggestions for an armylist? I haven't played more than 1000 pts in aged..
did anybody notice that the smoke looks like a skull
