1000 pts Mr. Marshmallow vs Barney- Ogres vs Greenskins

original thread ↗

Here´s the map. Grey are hills, the green blot is meant to be a forest, the blue thing can either be a lake(impassable terrain), or a marsh (difficult terrain).
Any thoughts?

Uhm...how doI get the white frame out of it?

The map looks fine. I have no idea how to get the extra out, maybe erase it?

The blue bit looks more like a lake, and I'll be thinking it's a lake the whole time, so it might be better if it's a lake.

I just found something on my computer that _might_ work to mess around with pictures, gimme a bit. If it doesnt work I'll post them tomorrow at the library.

AHA! It works! New map without so much white border:

Okay... after fiddling with the program a bit I can't do colors but can do letters, so I'll be using them to show my unit apart.

Bruiser
Tenderiser
Heavy armor

Hunter

I'm trying out some new things, mainly the hunter. The red dot/circle thing in the bulls is the standard, and... that's all I need to explain, I think.

My roll for deployment:

Looks like I go first...
I'll take the bottom. The first ironguts are down.

They are frenzied, so If I forgot about that, please remind me. Thanks a lot :)

thanks, it's sorta hard to make them not distinguishable when you only have three different kinds  :). The shading just came with the lines, and I didn't want to try and get rid of it.

I don't own the rulebook myself, so I might be screwing up somewhere, but AFAIK the trappers look okay.

My roll for first turn:

Looks like you go first. I'll be sacrificing some gnoblars to The Maw to improve my dice, Gork and Mork better watch out!

Trappers are fine.

Animosity rolls first:(from left(boar boyz) to right):
You requested that 1 roll of 4 6-sided dice be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 6, 1, 1, 6 = 14.

GAH! Now I never thought this would happen... So...The two sixes move an extra D6, and the mobs of boyz take D6 S 5 hits each(from the Bl Orc Bosses) and then move normally(lotsa rolling in this turn :))
So, the extra movement for the savages(Boar boyz firs):

You requested that 1 roll of 2 6-sided dice be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 2, 1 = 3.

the hits on units(generals unit first)
You requested that 1 roll of 2 6-sided dice be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 4, 3 = 7.

Wounds(needing 3s): Generals unit:
You requested that 1 roll of 4 6-sided dice be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 5, 2, 4, 5 = 16.
3 wounds, 3 dead orcs(I dont think I can claim the +1AS bonus for HW and Shield) :(

BSBs unit:
You requested that 1 roll of 3 6-sided dice be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 5, 1, 5 = 11.
Two more dead Orcs...

AAh, the joy of playing Greenskinz... darn you, Gork!

All right, movement:
No charges, rest of the movement shown on map.
No magic

Shooting: Both spear chukkas shoot, the one on the hill on the red guts, second one on the yellow guts.(from left to right):
You requested that 1 roll of 2 6-sided dice be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 6, 1 = 7.
yay, a hit o the red Guts. Now to wound (S6)
You requested that 1 roll of a 6-sided die be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 5.
wound, no AS.

How many wounds(D3):
You requested that 1 roll of a 3-sided die be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 1.
Damn! Only one wound on the irongut, no ranks to pierce.

That concludes the shooting phase, and my first(not so great) turn. Those Gnoblars sacrificed sure must have been tasty!
here is the map, after movement and with shooting indicated.

Your turn, mate :)

lol, two extra moves and two animosities. Orcs are quite fun to play against,  :D

My turn, bicker for the trappers, red then yellow:
You requested that 1 roll of 2 6-sided dice be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 6, 2 = 8.
Nothing for them.

Moves: no charges, you can see the rest on the map.
Shoot: Hunter shooting at the orcs with your general, roll to hit:
You requested that 1 roll of a 6-sided die be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 1.
Misses, dangit.

That's it, your turn!

Btw, I'm pretty sure your savage boar boyz can see the red trappers. They're frenzied, so they have ta try and charge!

I call a Waagh! (all units add their rank bonus to animosity rolls, generals unit automatically counts as having rolled a 6, a big boss also adds +1 to animosity roll)
If there´s a unit unlycky enough to roll a sqabble, however, it will hurt
here goes(from left to right as before, not counting the generals unit, as they auto-waagh!)
You requested that 1 roll of 6-sided dice be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 4,4, 1 = 10
Goddamn dice  :x
okay,so the General and the BSB orcs waagh, and the savages on the right take D6 wounds

Waagh for the orcs(general first):
You requested that 1 roll of 2 6-sided dice be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 5, 2 = 7.

wounds for the savages:
You requested that 1 roll of a 6-sided die be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 2.
Phew.
Now ward saves for teh savages(6+)
You requested that 1 roll of 2 6-sided dice be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 6, 2 = 8.
Yay! one orc saved :)

All right.
Da dimwitted Pig Boyz charge the trappers,as they have to.
Thanks to extra movement, my generals unit is in position to charge your bulls with the bruiser. So, fear test and then charge
You requested that 1 roll of 2 6-sided dice be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 6, 3 = 9.
No charge, then

the BSB unit moves forward, I´ll update the map as soon as I get your trappers response.
The dimwitted foot boyz on the right flank admire daisies, squabling about which one is the most beautiful, and may therefor not move.

As none of the charge responses will affect my ability to shoot, I´ll make the shooting phase as well. The ballista on the hill shoots the red IG again, the ground one shoots the yellow ones. Here goes:(first is on the hill, 5+ needed)
You requested that 1 roll of 2 6-sided dice be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 2, 6 = 8.

yellow IG are hit.

to wound:
You requested that 1 roll of a 6-sided die be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 3.
wounded, no AS. Wounds multiplier:
You requested that 1 roll of a 3-sided die be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 1.
DAMN! Only one wound, again!

Trapper response?

Just to say, doesn't the squabble mean that the two infantry blocks can't move?
And also, if you do move, failing your fear test for the charge doesn't mean you don't charge: if you have higher unit strength you go straight in, but can only hit on 6s for the 1st turn of combat.
(At least, that's how I reckon it works). ;)

1. yes, squabling does prevent a unit form moving. IF a BLACK ORC BIG BOSS is leading them, however, he "quells animosity" by doing D6 S5 hits on his unit and after resolving the casualties, the unit counts as having rolled "plan´s a good ´un" and may therefor move freely. That´s why many people tend to pay the extra points for these guys.

2.Actually, it does: the first thing applies if you are the one charged, if you want to declare a charge and fail a fear test, hard cheese then. You may not charge (rulebook, p.50)

You had a nice turn  :P My trappers are gonna flee, hoping you get bogged down in the woods. Now I roll two dice for the distance, right? Sorry I'm still a little hazy on the game mechanics

I'm pretty sure it's two dice, so here they are:
You requested that 1 roll of 2 6-sided dice be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 5, 4 = 9.

I'm a thinking I make it   :D

As the pigboyz fail their charge and had to wheel, they won´t make it into the forest. I moved your trappers too.
The pigboyz are a bit blurry, I used Photoshop to turn them, and that´s how it turned out. Hope you dont mind :)

Sorry for taking a while, RL just got in the way a bit, and... yeah.

The pigboyz are fine, though I'm not going to be able to do anything with them as the program i'm using only does straight up/down left/right squares... I can use the computers at the library if I have to, though.

My turn... Attempting to rally with the gnobs:
You requested that 1 roll of 2 6-sided dice be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 2, 5 = 7.
They fail, and run... *grabs the rulebook he's borrowing and madly flips through the pages* ...2D6"
You requested that 1 roll of 2 6-sided dice be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 2, 6 = 8.
So.. that takes them off the board. bye bye, little guys

Move: The hunter and then the bulls and bruiser will charge the orcs with the general, and both ironguts will try and charge the orcs with the bsb. The yellow gnoblars will move closer to the bolt thrower on the hill.

Magic: none

Shoot: I think one of the yellow gnobs can reach one of the crew with his sharp stuff, so he's going to chuck a single hedgehog at the gobbo
To hit:
You requested that 1 roll of a 6-sided die be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 6.
He hits! Wait... I didn't add in any of the penalties... So -1 for long range, and that's all I can find. So he still hits!
To see whether he hits the machine or the crew:
You requested that 1 roll of a 6-sided die be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 4.
so he hits the bolt thrower itself, no need to even try and wound it.

I'll put up a map as soon as I get your charge reactions :)

Technically, the 'Dont' in the phrase 'Dont you get it?' should have an apostrophe in it, between the 'n' and the 't'.

No problem, RL comes first always :)

Actually, you have two shots with each gnoblar, so one more sharp stuff throw for you :) (and you don´t count penalties for long range with thrown weapons, so 4 it is ;))

The bad fear rolls actually killed my battleplan, and so it seems I´m gonna get ovewhelmed quite soon.Darmn 12 inch charge range...

Thus, in a  manner common to all Greenskinz: He who runs away lives to fight another day! :) (if he runs fast enough, that is...)

Both units will flee(I´m not really sure which way, thoug :?)
Generals unit:
You requested that 1 roll of 2 6-sided dice be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 3, 1 = 4.
Guess that means I´m screwed...

BSB unit:
You requested that 1 roll of 2 6-sided dice be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 5, 5 = 10.
I think they made it...

As I don´t really know which way they´ll be fleeing, it´s up to you :)
Let the chopping begin!

Ah, thanks Reg :) Thought so, but don´t have the BRB with me now.

So the generals unit flees from the bulls, which makes me think they could even live to see another day...(I doubt the red guts will reach them, but I´m not sure)

The BSB unit has to roll of, as both the guts have equal US...So, a D6 then. 1-3 red ones, 4-6 yellow ones:
You requested that 1 roll of a 6-sided die be rolled.

Roll them bones ... your dice are

Roll 1: 3.

red ones, so directly backwards
