Hello everyone,
You may have seen my post in the Cauldron, I have never done Warhammer before but I am starting an Ogre Kingdoms army as I just love the army of fat ******** *grin*
I haven't put together an army list yet, I figure given the relatively small range of miniatures available, you can't really go wrong with the approach I have taken of getting models I like the look of to include in my army. So far I have the book, the battalion box, and a butcher.
The theme for my ogres is a swamp based tribe, so there will be plenty of muted colours and lots and lots of rust. I am making bases themed around a tutorial I read on www.brushthralls.com (an excellent site for a beginner like me to read a few tutorials and grasp some basics). Here is a picture of my bases, I'm waiting for the milliput (yeah I know, old school but I got twice as much of this for the same price as GW were charging for a weeny stick of green stuff). They're going to have sand applied and then I'll prime and paint them before putting some water effect in.

The as yet unwritten fluff for my chaps is that of a relatively isolated tribe who are devout Maw fanatics. However, a maneater brought more back from his travels than experience and a love of nifty hats - while fighting as a dog of war, he was hired to fight a Nurgle warband. His side won... but he got more than he bargained for from wading hip deep in plaguebearers!
The tribe are slowly being corrupted by Nurgle, but not in an overt 'hey, lookit me, imma chaos god' kind of way. They're loyal to the Maw. When I'm a bit more practiced at using epoxy I'll do some conversions using the nice convenient hole in the gut that the models have before you put a gutplate on
Eventually I will be using yhetees (but with extra sculpted on fur painted a slimy brown/green) as 'swamp things', gorgers as well - the only thing I'm not going to use from the battalion box are leadbelchers, as I don't like the idea of guns on my chaps. When I've gotten more experienced I will sculpt giant slings for them instead and make some 'shot gnoblars' instead of the torch ones. They'll play exactly the same, it just feels more 'fluffy' to leave the firearms out of it!
My hunter won't be using those godawful sabercats (sorry, I really don't like them!), possibly use spiders or crocodiles instead. I also saw a picture on this site of a hunter with a harpoon made from plasticard (your name escapes me right now I'm afraid) so I may ninja that idea as it fits nicely with my theme.
As for special characters, I doubt that Greasus would ever find reason to visit a stinking mire, but Skag may well drop in from time to time to rub shoulders with some Maw devotees *grin*
Well, there's my wall of text, input would be nice, I'll get cracking on assembling my 'guts and get them undercoated!
