After creating my O-team I have some (2) ogres left. And I'm still toying with the idea of creating an ogre army. The good thing is, that I don't have to do this in a hurry so maybe the army is ready when the new armybook is out and maybe sooner. Maybe it even dies a slow forgetting death.
The fluff in short: Why gold diggers tribe? They are gold diggers and use their dug gold to buy them selves in. They buy new recruits, get easily new maneaters and have new weapons.
At this moment, I have two themes I like to do: Make all models to look like dwarves miners. So they have candles, use lanterns and use pick axes as great weapons. Also clubs can be made as torches ( don't have an idea right now).
The other option is a total dwarven theme. The miners can be there as well, organ guns used as leadbelchaz. Hammerers and other dwarves can be re-created. All have longer beards (though the first theme can have that too) They can have dwarven runes.
I must say, as I am writing this, that the first idea is most interesting, especially when using the longer beards for the ogres. If I'll do this one, I'll make the following conversions: torches with fire for bulls. Pick axes for ironguts with sometimes candles. Candles on the heads of the ogres. I think I want leadbelchaz, but I don't know how to convert them. Beards for everybody. Maybe some jokes ( thinking about a irongut stumbling over his beard)
If you got any ideas for the miners idea of reasons why I should go for the dwarves theme, please let me know. Maybe I'll start tonight on my first two bulls.

Why not have Dynamite throwing Ogres instead of Leadbelchers? Would work great and shouldn't be to hard to convert out of normal Bulls (just make them hold the dynamite) and they would fit in perfectly with your Miner-theme imho offcourse... Above all you can still explain the rules such as Missfires (the fuse was to short and exploded in his hand), etc...
I would go for the Miner-theme for the following reasons:
You can easily make the fluff fit the whole Ogre Kingdom book as it is, where else would Greasus get that massive amount of gold (beside stealing it that is)
Ogres, imho, should live a large part of their lives in caves (and the occasional tent when wandering) and hence should have some knowledge on how to mine ore. Hey they have all their weapons fashioned out of iron...
The best reason of all has yet to come being:.... Nobody has done this as far as I know so just do it
This are just my 2 cents...

Actually I do
Before I started to collect the mini's I read the Fluff about Ogre's several times, the thing that I thought of was that if Skrag (him being a butcher and all) is so closely related with the Ogres (as in: he has a bond with them) and he spend that much time in the caves I could have him wearin a blindfold (sensable to light) or even have Warpstone's (which imho is found in mines too) fast evolution on him having no eyes at all!
This idea could be used for your whole army offcourse but would be nice to have on your butchers alone too... They don't need to see because of the darkness, because of their cookingpots smelling so hard and because they feel closer to the Maw in this kind of semi-trance state (being blind helps them focus on the other aspects such as magic, etc...)
Your Tyrant deserves to be head miner for the sole purpose of being the biggest, strongest and meanest of all the miners. Who else would survive that long in such a dangerous evironment anyway?
I would include Gorgers aswell, fluffwise they're the ones who don't need any conversion at all and the mines are their turfs anywa.
Hope it helps mate.

I too would support the miner theme. I reckon it could be based on the fact that the Tribe happened to stumble on some gold deposits in the Mountains of Mourn, and had the good chance to have some Dwarf slaves along to tell them what it was. When the Dwarfs explained to them (very slowly) what it was and why it was good, the Ogres set up a permanent camp around the place. The Tribe now has very close links with the Dwarfs, which has worked two changes: a) the Tribe no longer uses Gnoblars, instead using little mechanical contrivances to do the job for them (however the Ogres still paint them green and treat them badly because they feel they have to). b) the Tribe has become very heavily influenced by Dwarf culture, notably keeping Grudges and denoting rank by age and size of beard. Finally, in the rise of Greasus Goldtooth, the Tribe achieved basic independance as they are the closest and most professional suppliers of gold to Greasus.
Hope you like some of my ideas. Sorry for going on, but the fluff kept on coming (I'm sure there's innuendo in there somewhere).
I hope to see pics soon,

They are all good ideas but... The canaries aren't: Ogre 1: "How far are we gonna walk?" Ogre 2: "About 5 minutes" Ogre 1: "In that case I'll take a snack" and grabs the canary out of the case.
And Ghworg: Dwarves getting captured, enslaved and later telling the ogres how to mine? The first part would be half the book of grudges at least! I'm taking some out of it though...
Sculpting wise, I'm not going for the beards. Maybe I'll add something here and there, but they are not getting beards like dwarves. I found some miners sprues and I used some candles for on the ogres heads like miners have ( but then without helmets) Now I only have to sculpt the flames for the torches. I'll search the net for tutorials how to do this best.
Oh and Ghworg: when you get into a brainstorm: let it flow, when nine out of ten things are rubbish and you got one workable idea, it has worked.
And the fluff for now: An ogre has two interests: food and fight. The rest of the things are only interesting if they lead to the former two. Goldgut is the Tyrant of the Gold diggers tribe and he is a funny ogre compared to other ogres. He became the Tyrant in an odd way for ogres. He studied the dwarves mining capabilities and reproduced them. After many attempts (more then he can count, which isnt that much) he dug up some gold. He showed it to his three brothers who were able to control the magic of the gut and they perfected it. One of Goldguts brothers thought that mining with pick axes is a too slow way and started confiscating dynamite from empire caravans. That way they dug up even more gold. After a while Greasus Goldtooth got hold of this remarkable ogre and summoned him to his stronghold. Goldgut and his brothers walked into the great hall and looked up to Greasus, who was on a platform. Ive heard that you have a way of digging up gold in a very efficient way Greasus said. Now you can work for me and dig up the gold for me. Goldgut became furious and opened his mouth to challenge Goldtooth, but at that time one his brothers stepped forward and said to Greasus that it was okay. They share half of their findings with Greasus, they also had to pay their workers and they dont have any time left to rob some caravans or go to war. Greasus smiled and agreed. He thought to himself that this was easy gold.
When walking back the three brothers were looking at their youngest brother with a gaze. What were you thinking? Giving him half? The youngest brother chuckled and said with a wide grin :Greasus doesnt know how much we dig up and we dig up so much more then other ogres can steal that he doesnt know when we sent 10 percent to him. Rip off Goldtooth? Goldgut wondered and he started to laugh out loud. And his brothers starting laughing with him.
At that point the working crew got bigger and the more they mined, the lower percentage Greasus got. They were protected to the point that Greasus visited them and saw the piles of gold lying everywhere. His bouldering voice was heard through all the mines You double crossed me. Goldgut expected this and yelled to arms and Boulders. At that point Greasus, who was still in a lower position saw big rocks coming down on him and his army fled to hide from the boulders coming down.
As long as the ogres of the Gold digger tribe are up the mountain Greasus will not think of coming up and claiming anymore gold. And the tribe only comes down if someone stole their gold or they really want to fight. You see them arrive with burning clubs and large pick axes to clear their way to another fight.

Actually canaries in cages were used to detect minegas, a highly flameable gas. When they detect gas the natural instinct of the bird is to flee as fast as possible and cause alot of noise while fluttering around in the cage. At that moment every miner should put out any flame at the risk of being blown away and have a major collapse of the mines resulting in hunderds of deaths...
As you can see the canary is a really usefull bird and even Ogres wouldn't be that stupid to eat them (well not after a trial-and-error atleast )

I wouldn't use bellowers with this fluff - making that much noise in an unfortified part of the mine can't be good . Following the idea af a canary though, you could put a "specially trained" gnoblar (hey, they run away as fast as they can when they smell something funny as well ) in a cage, and let the "bellowers" hold it.

I have a few issues I have to work out:
Painting: I'd like the colours to be dark and greyish. I've three reasons for it: 1 I want them to look like they come out of the mines 2 the fire is already a bright spot (trying to get as much fire as I can) 3 I might be trying some OSL later and then the colours of the model itself shouldn't be so bright.
Then there is the problem of at least 8 units and they all have to be different from eachother. So I have to make some distinction whether it is by colour (which is the easiest to do) or by modelling.
Sculpting I'd like the ironguts to have pickaxes just like dwarven miners. The only thing is, that ogres are bigger and so the pick axes should be. The problem isn't the shaft, because I can make them from anything. The problem is the head. Anyone has a good idee about what to use for the axe head?
So three issues I could use your help for: 1 Is the colour scheme I have a good one? Or do you have any comments? 2 How to make the distionction between units? 3 what to use for axe heads?

Sorry I cant help with the modeling thats not my thing. However Dwarven slaves arent a good idea. Neither is assuming a dwarf would (could) voluntarily explain how to mine gold to an Ogre. Try this instead:
A dwarven mining team was lost during the hunt for the Nemesis Crown, getting thoroughly turned around underground when their path collapsed behind them and some night goblins laid a false trail. They traveled for many weeks without seeing the surface, believing they followed traveled under friendly empire lands. Unfortunately for the mining team, they traveled out of empire lands into the wastes near the Mountains of Mourn. It was in these wastelands that they made two very important discoveries: The first was a vein of gold ore that seemed richer than any vein of ore they had ever seen. The second discovery was that gorgers are very hungry and dont care about gold.
Several gorgers rapidly convinced the small dwarven party to run to the surface, believing the gorgers to fear the sunlight. Several wounds later, the dwarves broke thru a cavern entrance into what they believed would be empire lands and safety. They weren't. Instead, they faced a hoard of ogres from the bottom of a sacraficial pit.
These particular Ogres had recently been laid off because they accidentally cooked and ate a border prince. It was a simple misunderstanding, though. See, the prince was dead already. While he was being cooked, he tried to claim he was only sleeping. The tribes butcher saw thru his lies, since, according to the local peasants, everything out of the princes mouth was a lie. Unfortunately, the local army did not appreciate the Ogres insightfulness and ran the tribe out of empire land. The Tyrant was particularly upset by this, as he had come to appreciate the fine taste of horse meat and there seemed to be no end to the number of human thinlings who would bring horses right to him.
Getting pushed out of empire land would surely have been the end of the butcher, but he was smart. He knew the Great Maw would not abandon him. Before he was to be eaten, he asked that a Maw Pit be dug, so that when he was eaten, it would be in view of the Maw and the maw could feast as well. This seemed reasonable to the Tyrant, who never really was very bright to begin with.
The pit was dug and the stakes placed around the Maw for teeth. At the head of the Maw, with the tyrant about to kill him, the butcher offered up a final prayer for deliverance, asking the maw to send their mercenary crew new employers rich enough to satisfy the tyrant. At that exact moment, a lost unit of dwarven miners with the richest secret they had ever seen charged out of the mouth of the maw
And then, things got confusing.

although... you could add some DoW dwarves to be thier employers. Perhaps a cannon crewwed by dwarves or something along those lines. The dwarves have money and lots of it... but they don't have numbers. So they would fix a couple leadbelcher cannons to shoot right...
no ranked up gnoblar because the dwarves hate the little green buggers. Trappers live on the fringe already, and I imagine the dwarves would pass quite a few fun hours shooting various weapons of war at the weedy little greenies.

OSL= object source lighting. Essentially you takes a point of light ( a candle or torch in my case). Then you see where the light normally would go to. That you paint with the darkest light on the outside. This is the part I have to do.
The idea in text is this: Light source - bright reflection - lesser bright reflection - almost no reflection ( intensity of light reduces with distance ) If you want a good example look at Bullwaï's gnoblog, his leadbelcher is a good example of OSL.

That's the way of fluff, my man. besides, I was just trying to make up some way to have a bunch of Ogres learn how to mine gold the dwarven way. well, the dwarves would have to show them how to mine since they are too far from home to bring in a dwarven team right away, plus the Gorgers are still down there.
We are only dealing with 10 or 12 dwarves, here, plus a somewhat dumb tyrant. It would be perfectly reasonable for a somewhat shrewd Ogre with some ambition to take control of the tribe with a tragic mining "accident" that kills the current tyrant and the dwarven team. Possibly with the support of the butcher.

So it's going to be this one:
The strategy is to first paint the OSL on the models from where the light is from the models itself and then at the end do the OSL from other models to these models. Wish me luck!

@Ghworg: I know I got guts get it? guts... But it is actually easier, because the OSL is actually very forgiving.
Do you guys think it should more yellow ( the light)? or is the orange good enough?

I saw lord of the rings three yesterday and I was looking at the light that came of the lava (I know you get distorted) That was very orange, and every light that came of flames I saw the same, so I'll keep it this color.'
My girlfriend is gone till sunday, so I have alot of painting time at my hands. Hopefully a game too, though that won't be ogres.
I'll start my leadbelchers today and hopefully my butcher with skull mantle. The skullmantle is a banner from dwarves wih the face of a dwarve on it. He has some fire burning in his hand to get the OSL going for all units. The leadbelchers are dynamite throwers and have a bonfire on the base.
I dropped the idea of using OSL from one model to another, because then the units would become very orange. That is also the problem I have now with the lighting, that the outer edge is very red and therefore the red to orange layer is to big.
Hopefully I can get to a dealer (because that's what a a GW-shop is basically) and get some ironguts.
Sidenote: I'm probably the ogre player with the biggest knowledge of ogres and doesn't have the armybook...

Great work, Lex. The OSL is not bad, but the line of light to shadow is too sharp and need a bit more blending (or, at least, more colour mixing).
I think the light is a bit too wide, and hits spots that should not be hit, as they are a bit too far away, but, that is a matter of taste. Though, having this in mind, ther are spots that should be hit by the light; also, the spots nearer to the light should be more yellow, and the light should be more bright (i.e. white).
ogre n.1 (the one on the left, looking at it): the candle on his head should light the candle itslef, and his head. If the flame he is holding in the left hand lights the head/face, it should also light the legs-feet-ground.
ogre n.2 (the one in the middle): the stick the gnobbo is holding should be lighted too, along with the gnoblar's arm. If the light reaches the ogre's opposite shoulder, it should light the barrel the gnoblar is standing on. the candle on his head should light the candle itself and the head.
ogre n.3 (the last one): the candle on his head should light the candle itself and the head. Also, if the light reaches the opposite hand, the light should be reflected more on the gutplate, going down, to the leg. The whole hand holding the flaming stick should be lit.
Remember that metal reflects OSL differently from matte colours, and the gutplates need some sort of NMM, to be realistic.
Here is a scheme I did, so you know what I am talking about:
Hope I gave you some tips.
cheers

Yes, you were very helpful I have been looking to some pictures and the OSL should be somewhat lighter and more stages. So I'm gonna drop the red and tone every colour a little brighter. Though I'm not going all the way to using white and bright yellows.
You are right about the gutplates, they look dull especially compared to the OSL on the arms and body. I'll have to work on that.
I'll improve this unit before OSL-ing other units.
Thanks again

I've been trying some OSL-ing with taking Ikim's comments in account and actually the models are still no better, then with just the torches. So I'm going to drop the OSL idea (like Wildcard did) and I'm going just for the conversions and not painting .
In that case I haven't painted anything at all, because I'll have to repaint my bulls. I've started on my butcher and first unit of leadbelchers and will undercoat the bulls again later on.
This will cut away alot of time painting, because the models aren't hard and slow to paint. It's the modelling and drying of greenstuff that takes time.

Painting So my first unit of leadbelchers and my first butcher are finished except for painting the bases. I forgot to base the models before undercoating, so I'll have to do that later.
My unit of bulls is undercoated again. And I'll be starting painting tomorrow (probably)
Modelling The second unit of leadbechers is based and modelled, so they will be undercoated tomorrow
Today I bought three boxes of ironguts. I'm going to make from it: 3 ironguts with banner and musician 3 ironguts with musician 3 ironguts with musician 1 butcher with dispell scroll 1 butcher with bangstick and dispellscroll 1 tyrant with tenderiser, luck gnoblar wyrdstone necklace
Together two units of three yhetees that makes 2000 points.
I used loose pickaxes from the miners sprues and on the ironguts and they are actually quite nice. So I'm going to stick with them like that.
Other The theme is still mining and every model will still have some fire on it ( except for the yhetees for obvious reasons) and some gold.

I started painting the bulls and the bases of the butcher and leadbelchers. The three units ironguts are greenstuffed and based, so they're drying now and the can be undercoated tomorrow.
The list I have now is this: Tyrant with tenderizer, wyrdstone necklace and luck gnoblar butcher with stick and scroll butcher with mantle and scroll butcher with scroll 3 bulls with musician 3 ironguts with bellower and banner 3 ironguts with bellower 3 ironguts with bellower 2 leadbelchers 2 leadbelchers 3 yehtees 3 yehtees

A squad of gnoblar trappers (call them gnoblar miners if you so choose) is always a good addition. Also, as a conversion idea... use the cage from the giant sprue (if you have one) with a human model in it... paint the guy inside in yellow clothes... i.e. canary like they used to use in mines to test for gas leaks
Lexy04 Jan 2008
Trappers is a good idea, I've been thinking about too.The trappers can all carry goldlumps even or all torches. But they're not going to fill 200 points though.
The man in the cage is a good idea, but then for a capture marker, because carrying him with him would be out of proportions.
Thanks for the comments

9 trappers and 3 more Ironguts are 198. thatat puts you at 2198...
then add 21 gnoblar fighters and a bellower to the new IG unit for 52 points to get 2250.

I can see, why you say 9 trappers, but I'd opt for 8 trappers and a bellower in my ironguts. The reason is, that if the trappers panic, they have done their job anyway, and the musician in the ironguts give them more options.

Not finished modeling Butcher with dispell scroll Butcher with dispell scroll and bangstick Tyrant with heavy armour, tenderiser, wyrdstone necklace and luck gnoblar

I decided to add another unit of ironguts and a unit of trappers to get to 2200 and probably get to 2250 by adding one Irongut, The trappers will be made from gnoblar fighters because those models are easier to adjust.
The conversion idea for the yhetees is to give them pick axes and put those axe on ice. I'm still a bit thinking on how I'll do that, but that will be a problem when I've bought the Yhetees.
The goal is to have this army ready before half may because then the Battle of the clubs tournament is. This tournament is ideal to get with my new army, because we always make the wrong decisions, so even if we'd play good, we don't win (it's a team event) I think that this should be done easily and this mission can only be failed if I don't buy the yhetees in time. I actually hope to finish all my plastic ogres at the end of next week.
Pictures of the army will be up in the weekend, because I have to work and that means that I get home around the time, that there is no daylight anymore. And I like my pictures with daylight.

Lexy11 Jan 2008
Well ghworg in the last dutch GT people got less points fo painting for not having a dispell scroll. So yes I have dispell scrolls modeled. For me the best way is to take a flat piece of greenstuff and start rolling it up. When you rolled it it will look like this: @ Then flatten one edge of the scroll it will look like this: Y (well about) I made it, so it stuck out of his trousers and what i did is stick the flat part to the skin just above the trouser edge (this will have the part you want to see hanging upside down) Flip the nice part up ( gently) and let it dry.
Now I hope you get the idea, because it is before nine hear and I am not awake yet. THe first model will hopefully be photographed this weekend and then you see the first (and not the best ) scroll.

The Yhetees are undercoated, but I think my undercoat spray is getting empty, because I really needed to touch up alot.
I reckon, that if I get my three other Yhetees tomorrow, I can glue them together in two days and paint them in the weekend. This in turn means I can have an army done of 2000 points in 33 days. There are a few if's - I have to get three Yhetees tomorrow - I have to have enough pick axes for the new unit - I'm picking up bowling again as a sport and with the technique I'm using this means severe muscle aches as I'm going for a two hours practice on Saturday. This weekend was the ETC warm up in Brande, Denmark. For us an eight hour drive if it wasn't for passing Hamburg
I won't be quoting lists as it was a joint request of the teams. We had quite a good team, 6 guys of the ETC team Netherlands and 2 subs with ETC experience. I played a standard ogre army with a dislike for cannons.
First round I played against an ogre army with 4 characters and beast slaughtermaster. It was close game up until he got ALL the relevant beast spells off and I didn't get regeneration off. It ended 4-16 for him, but the team score was 97-63 for us.
Second round I played against a daemon player. He tried to hold my gutstar to get his big horde in, but failed and I won with 13-7. The team scored 99-61, so that's a good first two games.
Third round I played against the Russian vampire player. Basically we were standing 20 inch from each other, while he cast spells like miasma and van hells. We lost terrible against them 58-102 and figured, that 6 wounds in total of 8 games may have gave us the draw (16 attacks from a hammerer unit should have taken the last wound off a bloodthirster for example)
Fourth round I played against the german dwarfs player. I should have been hiding in a corner, but I didn't feel like it two games in a row, so I lost 13-7 in stead of 11-9. We lost terrible again 59-102.
Fifth round (this one started 11 PM and ended 2.30 AM) I played against a dark elves unit with a big block of cold one knights. I won 13-7, also because his level 4 blew up in the second round. We won 99-61 again.
Last and final game on sunday morning I played another kind of dark elves list. He was really out matched with all strength 3 hits and I won 2022-25 (he got a unit of gnoblars because they panicked.) We won the game 108-52.
In the end we came in third, which was very good. We then drove home and watched the Holland-Portugal game I was home 1.15 AM and gladly laid my head on my pillow

Now all we need is the 7th edition rule that said if the models are killed they don't get to fight and we WOULD be a broken army! lol

Next tournament is coming up. My fellow captain (of the Belgians ) is hosting it, so it must be good.
Almost no comp, so quite strange for me, but I'll see what I make of it.

This weekend I went to the Belgium grand open. Normally we would have driven on saturday morning, but we decided to go on friday to dodge the holiday traffic and some roadworks near Antwerp.
My list: level 4 slaughtermaster with 5+ wardsave, crown of command, scroll of shielding BSB with 4+ wardsave and magical weapon firebelly level 2 with scroll 9 ironguts with FC and Look out gnoblar and banner of discipline 2x10 gnoblars 40 gnoblars 3 leadbelchers 2x4 mournfang with musician 2 ironblasters
So we were there on time had some chats and started our games: First game was break of dawn with conditions, that you'd have to have more table "quarters" (there were six) then your opponent AND have more then 1000 points difference. I come to the table and see fences everywhere, it reminded me of a Mondriaan painting Then I see my opponent's army: dwarfs My mind is going nuts and I'm aiming for a draw. First turn high lights: He kills of a ironblaster and I misfire with the other one. mournfang flee and rally organ gun misfires, blows itself up and panics the BSB with rune of challenge and a big unit of warriors right off the table
Second turn highlights and further: I continue to kill a lot but just not enough: 960 points difference and 4 out of 6 table quarters. A draw
second game saw me a warriors of chaos army across the board. Objective: 1000 points difference AND get three units in his deployment zone My Ironblasters shot the hellcannon away in first turn and then started playing around with his lord on disc. Killed him in turn four or something. I tried to kill his knights but ended up with two left on the board. in the end I had the three units and 790 points difference. again a draw.
Third game and last of the first day I saw a vampire counts army made for combat (yay) We played the diagonal deployment and were closer to each other then he wanted. In the end he got 300 points from me and I had everything from him. finally a win and 4 points (we played 0/1/2)
Next day I expected to be on the borderline of the top 8 The top 8 would be playing each other and the rest would do the same for extra prizes. I was 10th and quite happy with that. I played a good friend with a high elf army and the scenario would mean that it would be some kind of dice off, or a draw. as both of us didn't want to take the risk, we drew, but still made it a game.
Last game I played another vampire counts army. His lord was much better and we played blood and glory (and still needed 100 points difference). We really hacked into eachother and in the end I got a little bit more points (I guess it was somethin like 1750 vs 1900 points) One dice may have made the difference: I grapeshot his general and if I had killed him I would have won the battle (I would have added his general for over 550 points and saved my slaughtermaster for 500 points.
Ended up 12th place or something out of 50.
After thoughts: 2 ironblasters is filthy good. My friend played an ogre army with death slaughtermaster, 2 units of 7 leadblechers and 2 ironblasters. I like that one and we're trying to make a good list with 20 leadbelchers now

This weekend was the Dutch GT. I went there with a fellow ogre player and we were quite on time.
My list was this: slaughtermaster level 4 with 4+wardsave armour, warrior bane, rock eye scepter of stability - heavens Butcher level one with a scroll bruiser BSB with enchanted shield and biting blade
11 ironguts with full command and biting blade 2x10 gnoblars 1x11 gnoblars
6 leadbelchers with muscian 5 leadbelchers with musician 8 maneaters, scout, swiftstride with 4x extra handweapon, 3x great weapon and 1 time naked, banner musician and gleaming pendant ironblaster
First game against a player who had picked up warhammer again after a while. He still had alot of 7th edition units and he was abit outlisted with his warriors of chaos. Most memorable of this game was his first turn failing of leadershiptest for the hellcannon, and me killing basically everything. 16-4 to me and a good start.
Second game got me against a good player, which I played a couple of times. He had a lizardman army which is based around his tooled up slann with temple guard. He was lucky when I blew up my ironblaster in stead of killing his engine of the gods. That cost me the game and a 4-16.
Last game of day one and I played a friend, which is also a good player and we had some scenario, with more text then a big book, so we ignored it and played battle line We drew after a bloody battle with very many casualties.
30/60 after day one, not bad considering the opponents I had.
Day two and a bit of a hangover. I played a new guy who hasn't been playing for a year and he had a daemon list. Most memorable of that battle were: - me telling him which item was where, while we had closed lists (a friend walk by and had to laugh, when he saw my opponents face) - My ironblaster having a desperate charge to get out of the way and killing the bloodthirster in one round (He had to charge to have my ironguts flank his bloodletters)
Last game I played quite a good player with the worst luck I've seen in a while: He played lizardmen with a slann, templeguard, saurus warriors and chaff. He starts and moves his terradons in the woods, rolls for it: fungul forest, the unit is subject to stupidity. My turn, my maneaters charge the terradons, he calls "flee" and me smiling "You can't" you are immune to psychology" My maneaters subsequently killed the terradons, killed a unit skinks, chased a unit of salamanders off the board, flanked the saurus warriors and broke them in one go and flanked the temple guard and killed them in a few turns. Off course the second miscast by the slann helped too, when his cupped hands were already used and he fell into the pit.
In the end he got half of my maneaters which left me with a 18-2 and that's a shame, because I could have been top 3 with the two points.
I came in 5th (4h ogre player, first without the greedy fist, death combo)

Your write ups are good help when building a list.
Althou I don't inculde nearly as much shooting as you. Max 2 ironblaster.
Being over in the US, we don't have as many events as you guys do.
But i take it you play a lot of VC and lizard list?
There a staple of top table armies here, and deamons as well. Do u see a up swing in certain builds? Or is bit random base on what event your playing. Cause cookie cutter list are running rampit around my parts.

After a long while probably the last update from the gold digger tribe.
I've played one of the last tournaments, I'll play in warhammer 8th: the ETC. For those, who don't know: the ETC is a team tournament for countries and every country may bring one team. In that team of 8 players, each army can be only picked once (so not 8 times daemons) Every body plays their own games and the scores are tallied at the end. The maximum score is 100 vs 60 where you never can get more then 100 points or less then 60.
We had a bumpy ride going to the ETC with a lot of practice days being cancelled. A few of us went to Call to War in England as a practice tournament for singles and got best wood elves, best daemons, best ogres (me) and best sports for the 7 players that went.
We also went to the ETC warm up and got a 8th place from the 16 teams, that were there.
In Prague we had a target of getting top 18 (top half) and a dream of top 10.
First day we started vs Poland, which is one of the best teams in the world. We lost 65-95 and my opponent was probably the best player I have ever played against.
Second match of day one: Sweden. The current champions, so we are in for a nice streak of strong countries. We lost 77-83 in the end and a leadership 9 reroll panic test took 4 points off of me. (rolled 6,6 and then 6,5)
We had a double feeling after day one: very good opponents, but under par.
Day two, we start against Serbia. My game was one of dodging Hellebron and because of his mistake of being broken in Blood and Glory I win 11-9. We win over 100 points, so we are up and above par.
The second game on day two against Switzerland which is normally a tough opponnent. We roll them over and another 100-60. Fun fact: I can get more comets on the board then Tetto'eko
Day 3 and this is the moment. We are top 14 and a good finish would mean top 18 is secure. We get Singapore and we win 99-61. This was kind of a freaky game, because our van broke down and during the game we were making sure that that got fixed too.
Top 8, on table 4 for the last game. The Czech republic who have been high in the standings all tournament. In the end we win 95-65.
There is a lot of calculations going, but we end up 4th with 536 points. The number 3 Italy had 537 points. So we were happy with 4th, but alot of guys said, that one dice difference would have been a 3rd place.
This was my final ETC after starting in 2009, so I'm happy to end it on a very high note.
