*sigh* at the Scraplauncher

Well yesterday evening after a hard day at work (kidding I never work hard, just work long hours) I thought it would be a good idea to assemble my Scraplauncher to ease my nerves and take my mind of work...

Boy oh boy was I wrong... I took every necessary step to make the pieces stick together (trimmed, cleaned with soap, and painted joints) and besides my fingers and the Rhinox nothing sticked together...

I know most people have the same troubles as I do but surely there must be someone out there with a brilliant idea on how to put that thing together....

Share this with the world and I'm sure GW would offer you a job for it (the one making the step-by-step building paper included should eb fired anyways  )

When I have such parts, I usually try little pieces of greenstuff to keep them in place.
You still need some glue, but it keeps it in place.

I've found the only thing that keeps scrap launcheres together is prayer

On the brightside, at leat they are not an essential part of our arsenal. Most players have scrappies as a luxury to bring out for fun games rather than a staple of every list. imagine if we routinely had to include 4 in a list to be competative

Well I'm not a believer but I'll start praying anyways. This and the advice Lexy gave should help me put this thing together...

Which reminds me that will all my questions to you guys about painting and putting together I think that I should return the favor and show some pictures of my army...

I gave up on teh scrappie completely - it'll be conversions all the way for me - starting in January!

As Wildcard said use greenstuff to keep it in place. I personally hate greenstuff so I use Self hardening Clay to keep the model's together. The Glue seeps in and really hardens well. Plus it gives it some more weight which I like.

So yea, find a medium you can douse in glue and hold the metal nightmare togeter. Sometimes (If money is short but I'm still needing a model put together) I'll used the foam that comes with some of the blisters. Load it up with glue and clamp it together. Then leave it to set. The Soaked foam dries contoured to the model and then I just file off the rough parts when dry.

Just an idea.

Pray to the maw, sacrifice a few gnoblars or other beings.

Though trying glue and green stuff will probably also help

pity the poor TK players - they have to suffer the tomb scorpions (whose legs don't take the weight of the model) and the screaming skull catapult - a model even worse than the scraplauncher to put together (by all accounts).

Can't you use pinning? I've not got a Scraplauncher and from what I've heard about the model, I'm not too tempted to rush out for one any time soon. SURELY it can't be that bad? Then again, I had trouble just gluing my Butcher together

I'm getting two in the not too distant future (tried to get one today but apparently the stores don't stock them anymore, funnily enough I never buy model stuff from the stores and now it's even more like they're tryna drive custom away).

Anyway back to the point- I was thinking of doing a tutorial on how to put them together (I',m quite a stubborn, persistant person)
Or at least if I can't manage it- a log on the bloody thing

Sounds interesting. Alternatively, you could just hitch the Rhinox up to a Chariot, put a lot of Gnoblars on it, then put a cannon stuffed with random weapons on the chariot. Save a lot of time and skin.

I pinned mine, but with so many fiddly little bits that are scarcely larger than the bit, that was a nightmare and no mistake.

On the plus side, even though now it's a bit wobbly, it hasn't come apart at all.

5 Minute Epoxy like this is a godsend!

You can get it at any hardware store. Mix it up and let it site for about a minute or two till it gets tacky then fit a couple pieces together. It took me an evening of cutting filing, and cleaning to get everythign ready and then the second evening (probably 3 hours) to get it all put together.

If it comes out slightly thick in a portion you can also sand it. Mine has been together for probably 8 months, I use it often and I am getting ready to build a second one.

One word of advice though, paint the bulk of the stupid thing first, I totally regret not painting my first one cause painting it after it is put together is a nightmare. Much worse than the building was.

I used a different epoxy (araldite) but form the sounds of things it basically the same as what skitzoid used
the biggest problem with the scrap launcher is that the contact area for the pieces is quite small for their weight, so normal super glue doesn't work well, but the epoxy fills in the gaps and makes a stringer bond

Well I made it... The damn thing is totaly set together (and so are my fingers) and I just used small balls of brownstuff (looks like greenstuff but just not green) and some superglue. A good piece of advise is to not, I repeat not follow the step-by-step paper. You'll end up putting stuff together that needs adjustments in angle afterwards when placed on the rhinox's back. I'll take picture asap after I return from X-mass shopping to show you how it looks (hell I'll just make a Gnoblog to show my first attempts at OK)
