Had a Local Store Tourney this past weekend. I took 5th place out of 12. Not terrible in my opinion.
It was 3 rounds with scenarios. Heres generally what happened in each round.
My List for this Tourney:
Tremendous Elfchewer Da' DragonJuicer
TYRANT
Heavy Armor
The Tenderizer
The Great Skull Armor
Mawseeker
Dragon Butcher Sr
BUTCHER
2 Tooth Gnoblars
Bangstick
Dispell Scroll
Dragon Butcher Jr
BUTCHER
2 Tooth Gnoblars
SkullMantle
Dispell Scroll
Fuin Da' Flag Guy
BRUISER / BSB
Magic BSB Rune Maw
Heavy Armor
Unit of 3 Bulls
Light Armor
Unit of 5 Bulls
Light Armor
Extra Hand Weapon
Bellower and Standard Bearer
Unit of 5 Iron Guts
Bellower and Standard Bearer
Unit of 4 LeadBlechers
Unit of 3 Maneaters
3 Cath. Longswords
Heavy Armor
Unit of 20 Gnoblar Fighters
1 Gnoblar Scraplauncher
1 Gorger
The First opponent I had was a small Orcs and Goblins PLayer. He had
25 Black Orcs w/ general / full command,
a brick of regual orcs w/ full command,
10 spider riders,
2 units of about 30 goblins each with 3 fanatic inside both
One giant
2 Goblin Shaman
2 bolt throwers
1 Catapult
(I'm prety sure thats it)
The first round I got to go first and it was pretty much a full move 12" forward. My Scraplauncher guess was about 2" off but then sailed 10" into open field. Magic wasnt bad I was able to get braingobbler off on his unit of Regular orc and send them screaming 1" away from running off the board. My Opponent passed all animosity (As he did the entire game) checks and pushed his entire amry towards me. He sent his spider riders to my right flank and set them up to flank my unit of 3 bulls and bangstick butcher. During his magic phase he tried to foot of Gork my Big IG unit but thanks to Runemaw and some unlucky Gnoblars he only succeeded in killing 8 Gnobbies. THey failed thier panic check however and ran. His shooting phase was ineffectual.
Round 2 saw me charge into his unit of regular orc with my Maneater unit with Tyrant installed. 4 full impact hits killed 3 of his boys right off the bat and the subsequent CC ended up with me winning by 5. (I killed 11 of his orc total... not great rolling by me) They failed their break test and ran back towards the table edge... again he ended up 1" away from fleeing off the board. I pursued and rolled a 3... which left me in perfect position for his black orcs with general to flank charge me. Shooting went terrible this round. While my Scraplauncher hit my rolling didnt and I only ended up killing 2 goblins out of 20... It hurt my pride I wont lie. The leadblechers shot at another unit of Goblins and I rolled as follows: Misfire, Misfire, 2, Misfire. Effectively killing 2 out of 4 leadbelchers and rolling 2 1's to hit with the 2 shots I did manage to get off. On his turn he charged into my bulls with his spider riders and killed off the one bull that could attack back. I fled 2 inches and he over ran them. He also charged my tyrant's unit in the flank with his black orcs and even though he wasnt able to kill the maneater and I got 3 of his guys for their trouble... he won combat and I rolled a glorious 11 for my break check. Not even being stubborn can counter that. His Bolt throwers skewered 2 of my IG's in my big unit and his magic was ineffectual. The only good thing that happened was my Gorger showed up and run 1" away frm his Bolt THrowers and Catapult which were all on one convient hill.
Round 3 saw the gorger eat the catapult crew, my other unit of bulls decimate the spider riders, My LEadbelchers got massacared by his murderous black orcs, and my scrap launcher misfired, his the rhinox in the "Most tender of places" and he ran 16" right off the table edge.
Suffice it to say it was a guerilla match at this point. By round six I had nothing but 1IG and my bruiser left. He had 5 regular orcs left and all of his black orcs. He beat me by about 800 points and I shook his hand. He was an excellent opponent and really capatalized on my misfortune and mistakes. It was a good loss for me.
My next match was against a Magic and Shooting heavy Skaven list.
He had (And I'm sure I'm forgetting alot)
2 Warp fire cannons
3 X 5 Jezzail teams
3 X 20 Slaves
3 X 20 Clan rats
1 lvl 4 Gray Seer
2 lvl 2 Warlock engineers
1 lvl 1 Warlock engineer
5 rattling guns
3 poisoned globe throwers
(I think thats everything)
Round one saw the skaven go first and they chose to not move at all. His magic phase consisted of him getting off death Frenzy on a unit of slaves (Which I didnt even try to dispell) and thats it. Nothing else was in range because he didnt move forward. His shooting phase saw him blow up one Warp fire cannon, 3 rattling guns, and 1 jazzail. (He was rolling worse than I was) I surged forward 12" and was able to bonecrunch the heck out of some slaves who failed their panic check and ran almost off the board. He was able to rally them next turn. Shooting saw my scparlauncher miss by a mile (Very bad Range guess) and the leadblechers were no where close enough yet
Round two: The Skaven moved around a bit to open up lines of fire and sight for the magic and shooting facade that was to come. No aggressive movements toward me except for the unit of slaves that were comming right for my Maneaters and Tyrant. We begged them to try it. His magic phase saw him Warp lightning my big unit of IGs... which was effectively re-aimed at my gnoblars killing about 9 of them. THose tough little suckers stayed put though! (double 1s! lol) His gray seer rolled 3 dice for plague I think and rolled all 3 ones. he rolled a 9 and turned off his magic phase and dispelled all spell in play (Bye bye Frenzy) My Tyrant and his Maneater posse chargeing into the skaven slaves who stood their ground (Fear check and all) and got killed like dogs for their troubles. (13 dead slave rats) They were ran down but I only got 7 inches which was about 2" shy of my next target. My big brick of IG's (Which had been cut down to 3 IG's and the BSB thanks to 2 Jazzail teams and a rattling gun that couldnt miss) got right up close and personal with the closest Jezzails. Couldnt get the charge but they were sweating. My leadbelchers were able to get into range and LoS of a Clan rat brick with one of his WArlock Engineers inside and open up 26 shots. Ended up killing 11 rats but the little vermin stood firm. MAgic saw the wounded slaves get hit with bone cruncher, My Maneaters got Troll guts, and one unit of bulls was accidentally able to get toothcracker. VERY good magic.
Round three went very poorly for the skaven player. The object of this game was to "Breakthru". Which meant get accross the board and exit the field thru your opponents deplyment side. My Tyrant and my Bulls and what was left of my IG team all got the charges on the clan rats and jazzail teams. I was able to capture 2 banners and get my remaining maneater, Tyrant, 1 IG, and my BSB off the table for some MAJOR Victory points. He also blew up his lvl 2 warlock this round trying to cast warp lightning on my tyrant. Double 3s and BOOM! lol! Gotta love Great Skull armor!
After 6 rounds of play I ended up with a solid Victory. I won by about 2700 points and gained about 3 Battle points thanks to conditions I met. My opponent was very upset about this loss and threw a small fit... nothing too bad but he defenatly got himself labeled a "Sore loser" I shook his hand and made my way to my next table and final battle.
For my 3rd Battle of the tourney I fought one of the store Pros. THis is one of the guys that originally showed me how to play and consistantly takes 1st or 2nd in every tourney we have at the store. I was honored (and a bit worried) to be facing up against him. Indeed he was impressed to see me come to his table. He played a Slaanesh Chaos list which included something like this:
19 Chosen Chaos Warriors with mark of slannesh, lvl 2 wiz and a champion, FC
25 Marauders
2 Chariots with Undivided mark
5 Kinghts with his Slannesh mount riding genreal (He had magic items that gave him a wound for every wond he inflicted, any modle in base contact was at half WS and IN, and for every wound he recieved he gained another attack. He was insane!)
Around 10 Harpy or fury flying skrimishers
2 units of 5 light cav
15 Demonittes
2 lvl 2 wizards
Round one saw me go first. I was being cautious because this guy made me nervous. I was really trying hard not to get massacared by him and didnt want to rush in blindly. I moved everyone up about 10" to keep his Cav just out of charge range. (I didnt want him to get any charges) He let me get off trollguts on my Bulls and got a Irrisistable roll for a braingobbler on his Marauders... which the Aced with double 1s. lol. Got Bone Cruncher off as well but only killed 2 Chosen Warriors. On his movement phase he completely shocked me by declareing charges and moveing as far forward as he could. THe Dang Furys or Harpies actually hit my Tyrant's MAneater unit! THey didnt hurt me at all but they held me at bay long enough for his Knights and General to run up and get the charge on me. His magic phase ended up wounding his lvl 2 mage thanks to the glory of the great skull armor and ended his magic phase.(Lucky #9 on the miscast chart)
Round two saw me charge the demonittes with my IG unit, charged his Light cav with my Bulls, Moved my other bulls to a more Line of sight friendly location, andmy leadbelchers open fire into his 2nd fast cav unit. (No other targets) All but one of his Light cavalry bought it, THe IG and BSB unit smashed the demoites to a unit and overran into his Chosen warriors My Scraplauncher proceeded to misfire and blow itself back into the splinters it came from. and my General's unit finished off the Flying unit just in time to be charged by his Kinghts with his general in tow. Luckily I was able to get troll guts off on my Generals unit because I decided to challenge his general with mine to stay off the inevitable overrun as long as possible. He actually accpeted with his general! He did 4 wounds to me! I failed every regeneration roll! lol! I countered and hit 4 times, Wounded 2 times but he saved one. When rolling for D3 wounds.... I roll a 2. UGH! Maneaters ate 2 kinghts but lost 2 and a half for our trouble... I lost combat but stubborness saved us and we fought on.
I have to condense the rest of it but suffice to say I was solidly defeated He beat me by 658) after 6 rounds. Although I was able to earn 3 BPs for objectives completed which is why I think I did so well in the tournament placeing. I also found out after the game he didnt really try too hard and wanted too see how well his army would stand up to a Brawl with the OK. I was happy that I wasnt MAssacared. lol!
Anyway that in a nutshell is my battle report and I truely enjoyed this tournament! I'm sorry for being vague in some spots but my memory is fuzzy about all the deails and my wife is nagging me to get her turn on the Computer. lol!

Still, it could be worse. I know a guy who uses a unit of 15.
