Nice job on the gun and runesmith. I reall like how the smith's cloack turned out, but its kind of hard to tell whether its a deep red, or magenta.

The runsemith is great. The freehand on the clock looks great, and seemless, and the face is particularly great. I think the very tips of the beard could use some more definition though. The fade out from darker to lighters works really well but the beard wids up looking a little thick at the tips (and reminds me of cream for some bizarre reason). maybe a light wash of the a colour a couple of stages lighter than what you did for the base of the beard?

I really like the Romanesque shields: a simple yet effective conversion. Nice paintscheme too, though they do look more like Goldbreakers rather than Ironbreakers .

Work continues on the Dwarves.... but slowly! I managed to get my hands on a bunch of the old ranger models for a good price. I had ten already so I happily snapped them up. I now have enough to field a full twenty rangers with crossbows! I should really pick up the Josef Bugman model to finish these off.

I have to try out a few different shields as I will need these guys to rank up well. The small bucklers seem fine but I would prefer the larger shields. I would however have to remove the hands on the back of them which would get annoying. I suppose twenty is not too many. Hopefully after these I will begin on twenty longbeard models. I have decided to use the awful face masks rather than buying the expensive but gorgeous metal models. I don't know why they changed these.

Christmas slowed my progress quite a lot sadly. I am finally getting back into the painting. I made up some custom movement trays and got them painted. Here are the results with a regiment of Thunderers:
I am currently constructing my Hammerers and attempting to finish off some of the various regiments I have started but not finished. The next in line to be completed are the Rangers. These models do have quite a lot of detail and it takes quite a while to do it all! I am using the classic Bugmans models which are really characterful.

The sparse grass works really well with the bases. Are the movement trays the new GW ones or built from plasticard?

I really like the subtle, muted look on the dwarfs, it really suits their character. And the Rome-y Ironbreakers are a great idea.
Great attention to detail everywhere, and I love how you've done the gold, as someone who really sucks at that metal I can really appreciate someone who does it so well!

Corai the bases/trays are made from balsa wood. Very handy to make them up and really customisable. It was especially handy for regiments like the Thunderers where you want a long strip. The stuff I have left over then goes into terrain making.
Tnaks Ortac, the mettallics are remarkaby easy to do believe me!

I am finally finishing of a few of these regiments.... only two years later! Many of these guys were started when the Dwarves were released. So here are some better photographs of the first completed regiment of Clansmen and Thunderers.

It is nice to finally have something completed that is for sure. What do people think of the bases? I like them but I am worried that they are a little busy. I am not sure what else I could have done with them. I was thinking of adding a few fungi....

I think the bases are perfect. The dwarves are very well done, but the larger bronze bits look flat to me. That's really my only complaint, and they look awesome despite that.

The bases look great already, but you could always add some goblin or orc heads and since you're using the BFSP models, i suspect you have the gobbo that is squished by a cannon ball.That would make a nice piece for a scenic base of your cannon, although i'am not saying you have to a scenic base. pez

Okay here are some old shots of what I am currently working on: Quarrellers:
I did these guys a while back. I am actually considering splitting this regiemtn in two. When I began I wanted to have the regiment in two ranks like the Dogs of War pavassiers. The second row would shoot over the heads of those in front. However this has annoyed me as they only look good when in two ranks and they are only effective then on a hill! So I am going to use the shielded front row as the beginning of a long beard regiment and the back rank as half of a quarreller regiment!

Great work Mentag. I love the pavisses, and the quareller unit looks great, but like you said only works on hills and only looks good in two ranks. I like the clansmen, his shirt came out nicely.
