Butchers vs. Slaughtermaster

original thread ↗

What's the best way to spend points in 3,000 points games if you want to use gut magic? Use multiple butchers, or buy a slaughtermaster?
Arguing on the internet is like competing in the Special Olympics: You might win, but you're still "Special"
I buy a slaughetermaster.  He's the equivalent of 2 butcher in terms of dice generated, allows you to get some nasty combos with the 100 points of items he can carry - and most importantly he can cast in a 12" range, and I can't emphazie enough jsut how much that is worth!

of course, if that slaughtermaster is also skragg and you're getting a tyrant too.....good times!

Is that possible?
Both units state they have to be the general.

Other wise I agree. I would take a Tyrant and a Slaughtermaster in 3k+ games. In my load-outs he always has the halfling cookbook as he is my main caster.

Wildcard means that Skrag is not only a Slaughtermaster but he is about as killy as a tyrant. It's a two for one deal. Like a Tzeentch Lord of Chaos.

If by RAW, you mean "Reg06's Audacious Whims", then you'd be right.

where does it state that a tyrant MUST be the general??  It states that slaughtermasters cannot, but this is waived in skraggs case.  You can field both skragg and a tyrant in a 3k battle :)

(unless I've really missed something big....)

Does Skrag's rule regarding Tyrants mean in a 3k list, you can have a SM in yuor army? Sorry fer stealing the thread, but I figured it would be answered here.
My Gnoblog. It's just starting up and might be slow to update but here it is!

Nope. Skrag doesn't count as a tyrant, so you can't get skrag and a slaughtermaster until 4000 points.
