I'm new to the Stronghold and to Ogres, but i have played three games at 1000pts. The results were bad. Before i get to writing the reports, i know my army list was bad, but i was only using the models i have.
Bruiser
Great weapon
Heavy armour
Fistful of Laurels
Longstrider
Butcher
Bangstick
3 Bulls
Ironfists, Light Armour
Bellower (superhero!)
3 Bulls
Ironfists, Light Armour
Crusher(recently pulled the model apart and remade it as a bellower)
4 Ironguts
Bellower, Standard bearer with look out gnoblar
Warbanner
8 Gnoblar Trappers
Gorger (Mr Chewy)
Battle 1: (Old) High Elves
2 level 2 Mages
2x10 archers
20 Phoenix Guard
Full Command
Banner of Sorcery
I will say here that the dice kicked me in the nuts during this game. I ran my butcher on his own, figuring that he could help pick up the slack. Should have ran the Bruiser on his own, instead of in the Ironguts. I won turn one. The Bangstick ran out (after being dispelled) bone crucher was cast on a 3 (and dispelled) and i miscast Trollguts. Fortunately it just meant that my butcher had a sudden attack of flatulence that harmed noone.
He moves his mages around by themselves casts magic and shoots. The Bulls with the crusher panic.
I moved more (I knew my opponent hadn't deployed on the 12 inch mark) and again failed to cast magic. The Gnoblars can't shoot and Mr Chewy doesn't arrive. The Bulls don't rally.
He blasts me more, panicking my ironguts who were about to splatter the expensive unit of Phoenix Guard.
I manage to rally my Bulls, but not my Ironguts (they're not off the board though). Mr Chewy turns up behind the Phoenix Guard. My Butcher and Gnoblars charge a unit of archers. I don't want to talk about close combat. I killed noone and a gnoblar was killed in return. I lost combat, both units fled, and were both cut down.
His Phoenix Guard turn to face Mr Chewy. In an astonishing display of dice rolling the archers kill two out of 3 Bellower bulls. I passed the only panic test i passed the whole game then. Cue short pause while i do a dance. Magic blast my ironguts again.
I Rally the Guts, and charge with Mr Chewy. I move my other Bulls. Mr Chewy cuts down 3 Phoenix Guard and take no wounds back.
More magic, more shooting. The Crusher bulls panic again. No wounds on Mr Chewy, 2 more guard die.
I get a flank charge on the Phoenix Guard with the Ironguts (now numbering banner and Bruiser). Bellower charge archers (the ones who killed my butcher). Bull loses combat and is run down. Ironguts splatter Phoenix guard, who do two wounds to Mr Chewy before he kills 3 more and runs them down. Mr Chewy and Guts overrun off the battle field.
Only my Crusher is still on the battle field. If he weren't such a coward i'd feel sorry for him.
Ironguts and Mr Chewy returns.
Magic is only able to do 1 wound to Mr Chewy, and the game ends.
Choice Meat award goes to: Mr Chewy. In a game of awful leadership tests, it was reassuring having someone unbreakable about.
Bones to Chew goes to: My butcher. Not only did he fail to cast a spell, but he failed to kill even a single dress wearing pansy.
Game 2: Lizardmen
3 level 2 Skink Priests
15 Skinks with Blowpipes
15 Skinks with Javelins and shields
6 Saurus cavalry with full command and Huanchi banner
3 Salamanders
I move up. Bangstick and bonecruncher kill off several Skink handlers. I shall mention it now. The trappers bickered the whole game long. I believe they may have been doing drugs in their forest.
He casts comet and moves, Salamander saliva killing a bull in the crushers unit and panicking them. I get feelings of deja vu.
I manouvre my Ironguts around, to help out should the Saurus cav come in. The bellower bulls move up, the crusher bulls continue fleeing very slowly. Mr Chewy arrives. The comet lands, but i've left it far behind. Several more handlers explode.
Skinks with javelins shoot Mr Chewy killing him. Salamanders shoot my butcher, but he hangs in there, while my bellower bulls are reduced to just my bellower. Before the game i had specifically asked my opponent if his Cav had the Huanchi banner, and he said no. He now used the Huanchi Banner, saying that he didn't have to tell me. (it was written in his list though). Rather then start an argument i say go ahead. The dice gods then punished him for unsportsmanlike behaviour. To hit my remaining Bull he needs 2+. He rolls 1.
.
Ironguts flank charge saurus cav. They flee, panicking the skinks with blow pipes. Bellower charges Javelin skinks (too close to stand and shoot). They hold. Bulls rally. Butcher kills off the remaining skink handlers. Salamanders pass there tests for handler loss. Bull kills one skink (annoyingly lucky armour saves). They don't wound him. They outnumber, i have a wound. I'm a bellower. The skinks and accompanying priest are run down.
.
The other skinks fail to rally, and with priest in tow, run off the board. The cav rally though. In the shooting phase however, things turn bad as the Salamnders kill my butcher.
Ironguts manouvre. Bulls move up. Bellower turns around and moves a bit.
Saurus cav charge Superbull. He flees. An irongut is fried with a thunderbolt. The bulls are panicked again by Salamnders.
Bulls don't rally Ironguts charge Saurus cav flank. They turn out to be 12 and 1/4 inches away. Failed charge.
Salamanders flank charge ironguts, defeat them and run them down. We end the game here.
Choice Meat: My Butcher, for blowing up so many skinks.
Bones to Chew: Ironguts. They couldn't even hold off a couple of Salamanders.
I also played a game against wood elves, but am too lazy to type it up now. I'll add it later.
