i face the Knights of Bretonnia, in the morning... need some tips

my ogres will face off vs the knights. it wont be 2000 pts, just shy. i own the batalion box set a tyrent, butcher, and giant. and a box of ogre bulls. i am thinking of using MSU to try and out number the number of units he will bring.

if i take the 1st turn should i march or wait till he gets close enough for me to charge? what else can i do to help turn the tide.? any help would be awsome. thanks

You will take the first turn for sure: brets pray, and will give up the 1st turn.
The tactic against brets is to bait and flee. They are faster than you, and no ogre unit will stand a bretonnian charge.
I suppose that since you're not playing 2000 pts, you're not going to face many pegasi, so there are going to be quite some trains (cav.lances) with wide exposed flanks.
Brets are very strong when they charge, but if you good/lucky enough to go to the second turn of CC, you might pull it off, by getting a flank charge.

i know that my opponent does not like to use pegassis, he like to use as many knights as he can. with paladins and all the heros. i know that he will be using at lest 3 formations of knights and maybe his tre'bushei(dont know how to spell that) but its the rock flinger

Well anyhow, your best bet is going "MSU" Trying to draw out charges with Bait unit, then flee and counter charge with a unit Ironguts and a Hero.
If you can charge them there is a big chance you will win combat. Just remember to target he BSB and smash it quickly. The thing alone often adds +3 to Combat Resolution(Virtue, being BSB and Warbanner).

Too bad you don't have gorgers, they would come in nicely to hunt the treb and hold up Bret lances.  However if you take your giant you may consider using him as one of your bait units.  I can't remember who it was or what thread it was, but when someone suggested it I thought it was a good thought.  Everyone seems to take the giant very serioulsy and while our slave giant doesn't have stubborn, he still has a high leadership which could be used in rallying him.  Put that giant in front of a lance with ironguts waiting to charge a failed charge Bret lance and watch the suprise on your opponent's face.  Most people would not think about using a giant like this, but I think it is a good use.  If he ignores it then you may get a charge in with your giant on him, something he probably won't want to happen.

I'd definetly go MSU if I were you too.

i think thats a good idea... the battle has been put on hold until a family matter clears up. i will try to post a battle report when we play.

Well Bretronnians are just about the last oppenent you want to face, exept Lizardmen...anyway, you gotta aviod the charge, Cavalry DESTROY Ogres, so if your not careful, you'll pay big time.
Bull's are not gonna last very long, ou need to get your Ironguts stuck in, but they are also not great at destroying cav.
Too bad you don't have a gorger, they hunt down Bret's execellently but to be honest your gonna need quite a bit of luck if you wish to survive.
