Grutsahnk and the boys went for a fight agianst the bony ones Tomb Kings
He had 2 scorpions, 5 chariots with lord, rock lobber, 5 scrawney birds, giant, 3 other magic users in squads, 4 lots of archers, 2 squads of mounted archers. Ronan the guy I was plaing is a GW employee over here in Ireland and one of the soundest blokes around and knows the sytems very well.
He won last weeks 40k tournament in Galway and came 2nd in the fantasy GT 2 years ago. So a tough apponant for my second outing with the OK army
My lot
Tyrant,3 butchers, 3 squads of 4 Ironguts, 1 squad of 3 bulls, scraplauncer, 3 yhettes, 2 gorgers, 2 units of 2 leeadbelchers21 Gnoblars.
3 dispell scrolls, bangstick, skullmantle, wyrdstone necklace, and some other bits and bobs, also one unit of Ironguts had a banner. 2200PTS.
My first mistake deployed spreadout across the table - gave him easy targets and two far from my better units so could not back up on his flank charges. I survived until turn 6 and that is as good as it got. I am afriad to say Grutshank and his angry mob from the tribe of the ice maw ( i am trying to develop some fluff) had there rather large backsides kicked all the way back to the mountain.
Good point my lone butcher left in squad rolling snake eyes and tying up three units, my gnoblars flank charging the carrion and beating them.
My Tyrant squashing his giant.
Apart from above it was a bloodbath, and most of the blod was Ogre.
What I learnt. Deployment keep it tight so units maintain cohesion and can back each other up.
Might reduce to 2no butchers and employ a battle standard. Any Ideas ?
The Irish GT IS next April I think.
I dont really care where I finish to me it all about having fun, but it would be nice to play the army well and to its full ability.
Guys give me any advice, however note I have a strict dislike of "cheese". I play for fun not wins, if I win that is a bonus.
I came 5th running a Khorne army in lasts year fantasy GT (4wins & 2 Draws) but I would happily finish last as long as the games are fun.
Sorry I went off on a tanjent my age "Old Fart" syndrome.
Ronan dereved his win but I will chew more bones anouther day.
