If I read the army book correctly taking a brace of handguns would mean the following for the shooting fase:
range 24 inch no long range penalty no move and fire penalty may allways stand and shoot S4 armour piercing 2X multiple shots
This looks very nice to me, if it is allowed ofcourse. Is it?
And the hunter's harpoon launcher is move or fire or not? I read that it fires like a bolt thrower, but i find no mention about it being move or fire. He may stand and shoot with it.
If this has been discussed before, my apologies for bringing it up again. I have been at sea for over half a year, so I'm not up to date on the forums yet.

You are correct. Brace of Handguns work as you have said. They also work as an extra hand weapon in CC. Brace of Handguns are my favorite choice on Maneaters for all these reasons...
The Hunter's Harpoon Launcher is Move-or-Fire because in the OK book it says it follows the rules of a bolt thrower....and in the BRB, bolt throwers are Move-or-Fire (but may stand and shoot since that is explained in the OK book.

Handguns are a good option, but unfortunately our beloved Maneaters can only take handguns as an 'or' option, which fofeits the use of the Cathayan longsword (my favourite by far) or Great weapons for Ultra strength attacks.

I'm still not convinced about the hunter. It says literally that the harpoon launcher is fired eactly as a bolt thrower. This refers to the firing only. I checked the BRB and found the move or fire rule discussed in general for war machines. This is not a war machine. It is a handheld weapon. I asked one of the guys in the GW shop and without thought he said it was move and fire, though this may be a house rule. I'm not sure. It is simply not stated that the harpoon launcher follows all the rules for bolt throwers, nor is it stated that it is a bolt thrower. It is only saying it is fired like one. Starting to drive myself bonkers about this.

Whoops, ive been treating it as stand and shoot. My bad! Maneaters with handguns- scary to face down the barrel of- particularly if they join an army as dogs of war. then, however, they take up 2 rare choices, when a unit of leadbelchers will only take up one.
