Should I have another Butcher instead of the 4th IG unit?
Thanks

frankly there are only 2 limits on the number of irongut units you should field in an army
1) the number of models you have 2) err....alright, I can't think of another limit
drop the gnoblars and have more!!

I know I could drop the standard, but what else could I drop (it came to 1035)?
Thanks

the unit of gnoblar fighters, the luck gnoblar from the butcher (since he has no save its pointless anyway), the xhw on the bulls, the standard on the ironguts, 4 trappers
that's the luxury items (and a case could be made for turning the brace on the bruiser into xhw - but I like the brace so i'm leaving it!)
see what you get when you drop those
btw - that item on the butcher should be a bangstick

Buiser: A luck gnoblar is only good and will only do its very job if you have an armor and a ward save. So I would go for a wyrdstone necklace (20) or even a Talisman of protection (15) if you take a luck... if not dont bother and go for a sword gnob.
Butcher: Drop the Luck (-5pts) no point since you dont have an armor like Wild said + same as bruiser. Give im a bangstick (S4 is pretty good) or Bloodcleaver or skullplucker.
3 Bull: I recommend a simple club and light armour... A club give -1 to your enemy armor plus the Ogre Strenght 4 it bumps to -2 armor save... so 9 attacks at -2 armor save to your enemy... pretty good for small game... and bumb them with light armor so at least you can roll something on them if injured... if not you made yourself a few points.
Now if you cast Bullgorger youl give them 9 attacks at -3 armor save to your enemy... Now if you cast Toothcraker on them youl boost their live chance of survival... Now if you cast Troolguts on them youl boost their save by having 1 for armor and 1 for regeneration...

The army has been changed and it now has 12 Ironguts .
Yet, would it be better to actually have another Butcher instead?
Thanks

well, there is a limit to the number of ironguts in a healthy OK army other than the available models... not every unit needs to be a hammer. Some units will spend the game chasing light cavalry, hitting the marchblocking fliers, going after light & unarmored support units, fleeing from charges... why spend the big points for an Irongut when a naked bull can serve some of the same purposes at 2/3 the cost?
If points were not an issue and the game was set up with model limits or unit limits or some other limiting item, then I would field every unit being ironguts every time, with maybe a leadbelcher because he looks cool (I have one with a gnoblar stuck in the barrel).
That being said, you have 3 hammer units (the ironguts) and 3 support units (trappers, gnoblar and bulls) so in my opinion this barely qualifies as "heavy ironguts".
a heavy ironguts list is this- Bruiser w/heavy armor & great weapon, 142 bulls with bellower, 115 5 units of 3 ironguts, one with a standard and lookout gnoblar to accompany the bruiser, 745 total = 1002.
This army is the legal limit on ironguts at 1K. It has too many. Your army has 3 units of ironguts. It's just right.

My opponent just upped the points cost to 1250 and is having two sorcerers (Chaos Dwarfs).
I can have it all now .

Ok, so I took the army up to the local shop and played my friend's gunline.
I Lost:
1 Bull 1 Irongut A few wounds
He Lost:
Everything after 5 turns!
It just walked through everything. Nothing could stop the force! I eventually had around 1750 VPs compared to his 83. It's safe to say we agreed it was a massacre.
The final army list was the same as before but with another Butcher and 2 units of gnoblar fighters (for table quarters).
I think this could work amazingly against many armies and I'd forgotten to take my gorger with me and that would maybe have done better than a gnoblar unit. I was going to use the trappers but we played the match in the wastelands between the Ogre Kingdoms and the lands of the Chaos Dwarves and there was barely any terrain. There was actually hardly any tall, covering terrain and my friend allowed me to use another fighter unit to make up for this.
Thanks
