An End for Canadian Conflict Tournaments

original thread ↗

I heard this news from a reliable source a while back and received the confirmation this week that GW Canada will no longer run Conflict Tournaments.

Games Workshop is a company that embraces change.  Not only for the necessity of our business but to meet the demands of our hobbyists and gamers. Moving forward, we are going to expand and focus on the independent Hall of Heroes tournaments. These will replace Games Workshop Conflicts, which, will no longer be held.

Conflict tournaments were special and eventful and I personally think they are doing a huge mistake over this. One of the reasons why they are doing this is to reduce the expenses. I think they are shooting them selves in the foot again! Besides the fact that they are raising their prices every year, many retail stores in the Montreal area are not holding much in stock anymore and the "hobbyist's" are not buying as much because of that. When I ask to run a HoH, the store owners rather do events for Flames of War of Warmachines/Hordes which there are more participants. Prices are reasonable, the rules are straight forward and the figs are beautiful.

I hope GW will find a way to solve their problems before they really lose their hobbyist.

Who will be the next Khan in the Ogre Kingdoms?
