I cant type it down turn by turn, as I didn't take notes.
It was my first ever WFB battle. Me and a mate were at our GW and I was using the stores Ogres, he had his own Dwarfs (using the new army book of course). As it was a store army I didn't have much to choose for my 1000 point army list, so I was more or less stuck using the following:
Heroes
Bruiser - Heavy Armour, Seigebreaker, Wyrdstone Necklace
Core
3 Bulls - Bellower
3 Bulls - Bellower
4 Ironguts - Bellower, Standard (Bruiser was in here)
20 Gnoblars
Special
2 Leadbelchers - Bellower
2 Leadbelchers - Bellower
Rare
Gorger
Which is like 993 points or something.
He had a large unit of Thunderers all in one long rank, a big block of Warriors, a big block of Longbeards, a Runemaster (I think) and then 2 Cannons and a Flame Cannon. Yes, 3 Cannons in 1000 pts, I thought it was slightly corny too. But then again, I'm new to WFB, what do I know.
Basically, I won! My first game with Ogres, my first game of WFB for that matter, and I pulled off a win. By the end of the game I still had 1 Bull, 4 Gnoblars, my Bruiser and my Gorger all alive, which is enough points for a win. He was completely wiped out.
I love Gnoblars. They got close enough to charge a cannon and in close combat didnt manage to score a single wound on the crew at all. The crew killed 1 Gnoblar, but the Gnoblars still won combat due to ranks etc and the crew broke. They ran off and my Gnoblars chased them down. Cannon gone. That was funny.
My Bruiser + Ironguts performed exceptionally well. I need to go out and buy more Ironguts for my own army now... I gave my Bruiser the Seigebreaker... with Dwarfs having WS 4 and 5 and only I 2, being able to hit them using their I instead of WS is golden, especially when that same weapon also gives +3 Str.
Well today I learnt that Gorgers, Bruisers/Tyrants and Ironguts are really game winning units. Also that Gnoblars are extremely lucky . Good thing for me I have a Skrag army, so I can use 4 Gorgers in my 2000 pts list.
