Rhinox rider - Heavy armour, Iron fist, standard, warbanner
165 points
2240 points
I'd appreciate any input as I don't have a hell of a lot of experience with Ogres and I'd like some help to put together a fun list.
No special choices at all as none of them appeal to me whatsoever. I hate the yhettee models and from a fluff point of view they are out. Leadbelchers aren't reliable enough for me so they are on the bench as well.
Look forward to any comments.
Cheers guys

I can see a couple of things I'd change, but as a first list, I must say it looks prett solid - well done!
things I'd change:
it seems that your rhinox rider is not on a bull rhinox - he needs to get one! The increase in unit strength to make him break ranks, the ability to cause terror and the S6 attacks at WS4 are all very, very worthwhile for the extra 45 points.
also - no trappers? they are the best of the gnoblars and a very worthwhile unit.
personally I'd drop both units of fighters to make the changes I mentioned (save you sme painting too!)
Knowledge is knowing that the tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing not to use it in a fruit salad.
Record - (83 played) 73 wins, 9 losses, 1 draw
(my pet gnoblars are now named John, Paul, George, Ringo and Yoko)

Tactically the trappers are more versatile than the fighters. There maybe times when you wish you had fighters but it's outwieghed by the opportunity to take that scouting spot away from someone that really wanted it, forcing heavy cav to charge, or sacking warmachines.
Personally I am not a fan of the nox riders untill they become official but I don't mind playing against them.

Hey guys,
I've taken the advice on board and have altered the list a little.
Tyrant - Heavy armour, Tenderiser, Mawseeker, Jade Lion
296 points
Bruiser - Heavy armour, BSB, Wyrdstone necklace, Sword of might, Look out gnoblar
Rhinox rider - Heavy armour, Iron fist, standard, warbanner, Bull Rhinox
210 points
2248 points
What is everyone's thoughts now? I'll be playing against a pretty solid Dwarf list soon, any tips?

I wouldn't bother with the bruiser BSB. He's nearly 300 points. You can have 3 bulls and 3 ironguts for the same price.
Bellowers are not strictly required in your irongut units. If your ironguts are fleeing regularly what you need is new tactics and not bellowers.
If you're going against dwarfs, the rhinox rider is simply going to get blasted. Either by cannons since he cannot be protected by a "look out, sir!" roll, or by gunners/quarrelers, because he's a large target and a lot of points. You might as well paint a bullseye on his chest.
The maneaters are going to be a bit of a target too. Against dwarves, the best tactic is simply to field hordes and hordes of small bull and irongut units. Give him a LOT of units to shoot at, make him spread his shooting around, and enough of your units will get through to start flanking his infantry blocks.
Your tyrant is a workable setup, with mawseeker and the lion. Make sure he's in a large unit of ironguts with a lookout or he'll get his head blown off, especially if you decide not to give him the wyrdstone save.
Again, i'd drop the BSB. Its just so expensive for us to field one, i'd rather have two units of solid infantry for the same price.
Your butcher setups are perfect, though the tooth gnoblar is often considered to be semi-useless.
I have to ask.. if you're playing against dwarfs, whats with the Rune Maw? Does he use an anvil?
As said above, I find maneaters and rhinox riders, especially the Bull Rhinoxen to be a point sink that could be better spent on bulls and ironguts.\
Some gorgers would help tie up some of his ranged units and take the pressure off your front lines as you advance.

Thanks for the input, I'll have to have a look at investing some points in more units as opposed to the BSB.
I'm trying to design a 2250 list with a tournament in mind, more than likely I will be playtesting it against Dwarfs and I wouldn't mind whipping some arse that's all.

The MSU style of tactics works so well, I've never used anything like it before so I was amazed with how easy it was to coordinate and was really happy with the overall effectiveness of it.
Although I have one gripe, sure I was against a dwarf army with 6 dispel dice, however I don't feel that I require two butchers and can't help but think that a bruiser could help stop some panics in the line.
Also my Tyrant setup, he didn't suffer any wounds over the two games and generally whatever he charges he kills very shortly after so I'm unsure if he really needs the toughness boost. What are peoples opinions on giving him kineater? I certainly think that panic is the downfall of OK MSU style armies and would like to hear other peoples opinions on this. Or should I ignore the gut feelings and stick with this list?
