My attempt at an Ogre Army

original thread ↗

I decided to post a couple of pics of my army... seeing other armies, I'm a bit ashamed about the lack of conversion...

Wow! Nothing for you to be ashamed about! A strong color scheme can take your army far! You don't need any conversions, you've done a great job with what you have here. Nice work!

What do you mean with 'lack of conversion', ey? I see plenty :P You've got two converted butchers and a home made banner, you've repositioned the gorger etc. etc.

Your army looks beautiful :)
My favorite is without any doubt you giant... looks like goldielocks :P
My Pet Gnoblar is called nothing but "food"
Yeah, I agree with the others. a) Who needs conversion when ur painting is that good and b) the simpler conversions are the best, as they add needed touches to a model without detracting hugely from a great paintjob.
2 Pet Gnoblars! I dub them Itchy and Scratchy, for reasons that are too private to divulge.
Too much of something which is good, can be bad too ;)

are the image taken with a slightly orange light, or is everything supposed to have an orange glow ?
Some pieces could have some more shading/highlighting. But they look cool.

What surprised me the most was how good it looks to sand the side of your bases, nice one.
Tyrant of the Unknown Tracking Tribe
An awesome looking army. the little conversion touches you've made and the effort put into the bases have really brought the models to life. Do you have any future plans for the tribe?

thanks

@Corai : I plan to photograph the others first .. ( I have about 2500 pts painted), and I really should get started on a Tyrant...

@ Vargh : Yes, the lighting is a bit yellow. Main reason I stopped photographing.

@ others : Thanks people !!  :D
So when the new pictures coming :D ???

The Butcher looks fab as do all the other Ogres. I the design on the banner hand-painted? 'cos if so, my impressedness meter will rise another few notches!

Hand painted.. all banners (not sure if you refer to my army standard or the smaller unit banner)  :)
Nice job but those mould lines are really visible.

They cant stop us let 'em try, For heavy metal we will die.

I know, the bull were the first things I've painted... learned from my mistakes by now..
Not bad at all. The pedistal bases reminds me of those irish coast-rocks.

Thanks

Looking good there - that scrap launcher is absolutely manic!
Meet Kenneth and George, my Backscratcher Gnoblars.
The scrap launcher looks great. I really love the model (not so much assembling it ;)) and yu've done it more than justice. Looking forward to your next update :)

Thanks

theres loads of conversions in there, and that hand painted army banner is fantastic.

my favourite model has to be the leadbelcher with underslung cannons on each arm. ace.

I'll post close-ups should you so desire....
You appear to be the king of Rhinoxen: I can't decide which is more awesome, the RR or the Scrappie!

Hi,

Your scraplauncher looks great. The Rhinox is painted very realisticly

They're maserfully painted, but I'm  not a fan of the brown rhinox on the end. individually it looks great but next to two grey ones it just looks a little out of place

thanks

My Ironguts : some minor conversions and the SB's have magnetized arms so I can field them as regular troops...

Hi,

I really like this paintjob! Great work! Have you had any experience with painting models before your ogre army?  I also enjoy the conversion especially on these iron guts, I have been working on something familiar.

Greetz,
Roy
The scraplauncher and rhinox riders are amazing! It'd be great to see a pic of the scraplauncher Rhinox and the other rhinoxes (Rhinoxen?? :|) together to see how much bigger the forgeworld ones are. Also a pic of the gorger from the front would be brilliant! Great job :D.
Those are some wonderful Ironguts. Really nice work!

great job with the multi purpose SB. I love the added shields from other kits too

Looking good. The ironblaster cannon could probably use some touches of color or verdigris. Right now its a little plain for a center piece.

Nice execution on the ogres.  Very 300 / WoC-ish.

In case someone doesn't want to/isn't able to get Vallejo products where they live, a similar effect can be achieved with a really thinned down turquoise wash in recesses where you want verdigris. After drying, apply another wash with a mix of the previous turquoise paint and light blue/white depending on the colour wanted. The second wash should be applied over the first one with some caution to not cover all of the first wash, leaving darker edges. Similar technique can be used for rust too with brown colors.
