The bases are made with plaster of Paris poured into a baking tray lines with baking paper and jammed into the over on a low heat just to speed up the drying process.

Then I broke it up a bit and glued the slabs onto the bases with super glue. The plaster flakes and rubs off when you paint it (stuffing your brushes) so I put a few coats of slightly watered down PVA glues on them to harden the surface of the bases and so the undercoat and any putty I apply to the bases will stick.

With the bases I still have to fill in gaps and build up the edges with mili put.

As I will be painting all the ogres on corks and really taking my time with them they have pins in their feet witch are also to be used for pinning them into their bases.

I still have a little way to go with some minor GS work, gaps in shoulders, straps and some minor details and a hand for an iron gun and lead belcher but so far all the major modelling is complete bar the unit banners.

The gnoblars are complete and should have new pics next week, as today I PVA coated their bases, on more gnoblar conversion to go and the unit is complete.

On the way is 2 spawn minis (awesome new ones of course) giant, two butchers and working on my big fatty tyrant mini I got a few weeks ago, maybe as a tyrant with ultra cool pose or convert to be a battle standard.

Trolls to come soon just a little cleaning up/ converting and pinning to bases and they will be ready for a group pick.

So onto the pics

Bull unit one: (operation annoyance) these lads and lady flank, bait and die (in that order) or soak up missile fire etc sometimes bash things with clubs.
(L to R) bellower with old spawn spines from his upper back to keep the birds away, two ogre heads glued together with GS to fill in the gaps and add some detail, GS tongue and a Helf dragons left arm and a armour bit from tyranid sprue to make a bum scratcher, beastman looking bull, horns from chaos warrior, spawn feet and beastman shield gut plate (will have GS fur sculpted on) and lucky last the female ogre now with long golden curls, still shaping out her size 30 figure she will most likely be waring a mini skirt.

Bull unit two: equipped with iron fists, they cruse the battlefield fisting things into certain death and usually last a little bit in combat.
(L to R) Another two headed ogre this one scares of magpies more GS needed for the sides of the head wepon made from the top of an orc mace, next one already talked about at the top of the diary, bellower head from the 40k ork boss attack squig more GS needed to fill gaps and blend the neck, last one right “ Strong hand” 40k carnefex tail bit and chaos ogre head ( I think)

Bull unit three: 2 hand weps (one bloke missing the armoured bull, heaps of pics of him so I didn’t take any more) Charge things and try to kill stuff with their wepons.
(L to R) tentacle arm from spawn and torn out throat, shoulder eye from 40k tyranid venom cannon right arm face melter with plastic glue and left hand from rat ogre sprue, crabs man crab hand from tomb kink giant scorpion, last guy normal bull std but with old 40k tyrant body guard right hand.

Iron guts 1, 2 and 3: These were by far the most fun conversion I have ever done. I tried to theme each Iron gut.

Guts 1: typical ogre with a moustache and a big knight smashing wepon, beast killer ogre (hunter when I want to use one) has a great wepon made from a huge tuck from a big something … man/ bear/ pig and beast man shield, wanders the bush killing things. Fred on the end is from Mordheim gargoyle barrel great wepon and has a fin on his back.

Guts 2: blind ogre, kills bretonian peasants like no one’s grand mother, has small shields from the Bret knight sprue and a drum from the zombies, Bret shield on right shoulder. Middle guys normal gut STD with Bret men at arms shield as arm guard, and the last one I was going for a Delf executioner look with the face mask and huge scimitar, Delf shield arm guard and a mini thigh plate on left leg.

Guts Three: Empire looking one with empire eagle emblem on his left shoulder as an arm guard and have a mutated left hand (is the gut lord). Muso marauder themed 2nd 40k space Goff ork helmet and marauder shield on shoulder, back of head GS leather neck flappy bits (rivets made from the hole in the end of my pin vice). And toothless Joe standard angry gut with Mordheim sign as back armour.

Lead belchers: normal kit but the right hand was hacked away so I can sculpt a mutated hand with talons… like a chicken. Thunder fist right arm from the rat ogre kit and the left’s from the old metal spawn his back need remodelling a bit. I use him as a man-eater with handguns sometimes :oP and the third LB is normal kit one but I’m making his kill cannon more chaos looking and the fat headed gnoblar will have a flag of some such or a knapsack.

So that’s all the progress since the last update besides the gnoblars with was only minor modelling but I will get pics up soon.

Here is a pic of lil bits on my fav ogres.

~piggles
love the second WIP head, fantastic models all in all.

regards
Wayne and Garth, the gnoblars.

Wow great stuff i love this entire army
All the models are great, brilliant converting!! So is this an Ogre army themed to look like Chaos Ogres, or an actual Chaos army that happens to have a lot of Chaos Ogres? Or do you swap between the two when you feel like it? :)

My first pet gnoblar! I'll call him Bock!
Ogres with a chaos theme. Not sure how to get 30 odd ogres into a chaos army lol.

I got the gnoblars done this morning... Being sick has a bonus of more modeling time.

I have begun collecting some bits and bobs for my beastmen army that will be allied with my chaos ogres. The ogre army is a full 2250 army when I eventually purchase the remainder of my minis, 2 butchers, spawns and a giant.

I thought only mino's become troops if the army is led by a doombull.

~piggles
(I think he means you could use the Ogre's as Minos ;))

Love your models though ^^. Painting is a bit average, but thoose conversions weigh it back up ^^.
I'm working (Altough working is a very strong word...) on a Chaos Ogre army myself, and it seems as we have shared a few ideas here without knowing it ^^.

Keep up the good work ^^.
Pet Gnoblars:
Snikgit, Wasnuff and Watzit

"Personally, I think the best motto for an educational establishment is:

'Or Would You Rather Be a Mule?'"
-Terry Pratchett
AHHH well I can run a as is mino army. I have 2250 pts chaos ogre army about 60 odd gors and ungors and 3000 off mortal chaos army. So the new plan is a 5000 pt chaos army with big ogre force, mortals, new demons when they turn up and a large beastman detatchment.

Any way, I got all most all of the modelling done a few extra details female ogre isonly about 40% done. some minor details on the standard bearers are needed to finish. I have began painting the ladz I'm going for a pale pinky skin tone.

Starting with tallern flesh base coat shading with waterd down beastie brown, then tallern flesh. highlighting up with dwarf flesh to elf flesh and then adding either pale flesh or rotting flesh for final highlights. I think i will also have a go at adding stubble and painted on scars.

Mutations will be green, blue and purple most likely.

Pics up soon.

~piggles

Basic GW butcher, I gave him the tyrants right hand hammer and a spawn spike for his head.

The tyrant has just had the left hane cut from the great wepon shaft and repinned together with different position. In the left hand will either be severed head or he will be holding a chain going to hit pet gnoblar he is taking out for walkies. ;)

Most of the progress I have made in some time, I have worked out how I want the skin it's about 90% done on this guy.

 All to do is:
convert up 24 more gnoblars
Make the bases for them
finish converting the 2 butchers and tyrant
paint em'all
make display base

So I think I'll have the army fully done about June 2010 lol

I hope I can get some more ogres painted in the next few weeks.
I like the converted gnoblars. Nice work mate!

BigD
- 5 fighters and 1 trapper; the beginning of a vast gnoblar army. A gnoblar revolutions is at hand!
Wow, these guys are looking really cool. I dig 'em.

One idea, if you have any bestial heads (boars, wlves, tuskgors, rhinoxes, etc.) you could try greenstuffing them in in place of your regular head. I made a couple of units of these bad boys as minotaurs when I was doing beasts and they turned out really well. ust something to think about.

Again, awesome guys, keep it up. I really like the guy with the elongated face.
Fear tha Thinling Thumpers!!!
Really characterfull conversions there, all really good stuff.

Two-headed guy and bellower FTW!

You can't be old and wise, and have youthful memory... even if you are FF

Achievements 39/101

Latest: 9. Sigh! - lose more than 3 ogres to any one casting of a spell that involved you taking an initiative test as part of it's resolution

W/L/D : 9/10/2
I like almost all of these conversions, and can't wait to see that female ogre so the lads can finally have a lguh *cough* group shot of 5000pts anytime soon?...

Good to see you back in action. Nice work on the ogres. The bellower came out particularly well.

Question: what did you use for the head of the gnoblar in your avatar???
Been over a year, put them on hold for a while went nutty with a 40k ork army and a Rackham buying spree. Old comp crashed and totally forgot about ogre stronghold until today

But as it turns out I'm trawling the webz instead of studying for an exam tomorrow and logged in  :D.

I think zero progress has been made to the army. I still have the chaos mortal and beastmen detachment but will most likely sell them as I have 3000pts ork army 30 odd minis to paint this ogre lot and allot of Confrontation stuff.

Picked up another gnoblar unit so they will be assembled soon over the next month hopefully and I will be trying to squeeze them into the army. 1500pt ogre army will hopefully be painted to a decent standard by next year so I can get in on some local tournys, same with the 40k orks.

Can't remember if I answered this but the gnoblar head is a chaos warhammer skull from the command or accessory sprue.

Finally got some motivation to paint this ragtag bunch. Not much was done over 7 years :P.Few Ogres were started, none finished. Small slow grow campaign 500pts starting in Feb, +250 pts each month.

Undercoated again,I'm amazed at how better I can paint, considering I don't finish anything.
Leadbelcher test mini.

Close up of the bull I'm working on. Just have base, details like tattoos+ wounds and metals to go.
Glad you started them up again, they look awesome! Your skin is very very well done and some of the conversions look like they will be incredible when they see paint.  Eagerly awaiting more good sir!

Bull # 2

Skin will be a tad different for each bull. keeping the leather, metal and boots the same to keep it easy.

UP DATE!!

Two fat little piggys I'm working on.

Finished these two last week. A few little bits I would like to tidy up.

New boy I started a few days ago, I think I got him done in 2 sessions.

Group shot, minus the three gnoblars I have done.

Started this guy tonight with 5 gnoblars. I thought I would try painting skin a little different. Shadows and highlights first, glaze with the base colour. Some more shading to do before the main skin colour glaze.

Looking great, hope to see some more progress son

Not going to lie but did you just copy and paste your previous post?

Second unit of gnoblars, just have some gap filling to do.

This guys was built up to be a unit filler for the gnoblars.

Awesome looking Gnoblar boss, i don't recognize it though. Where is it from?
Samurai Ogres of Nippon

Some of those look really disturbing...

Great job!
 :)
Great job on the models. Bizarre repeat post though!

Yeah, just noticed the repeat post. I have been posting it here and then cut and pasting it toanother forum. I'm thinking I cut it from that forum and then reposted it again here lol.

I have ben finishing off the gnoblars and saber cats (chaos hounds) and got em undercoated. Just need to finish my tyrant. I think I will need to get the airbrush onto them as I have 11 weeks to finish the army.

Goblin boss is from freebooter

The rest of the army undercoated, very keen to get into the giant :). I have around 10 days to get all my airbrushing done.
