I've not really started a gnoblog for my main ogre tribe - and I'm not doing that here either. What this gnoblog is about is my crazy ideas for wacky ogres that I have from time to time.
Last christmas I created a Santa Ogre, complete with sleigh and pressies (Father Gutmass) - and this has started a trend with me - to create ogre models for other fictional characters
I'm going to be making ogres for as many funny fictional characters as possible - the restrictions will be that the characters must be traditional in some way - the kind of characters your parents told you existed when you were young.
Over the last weekend, given the fact it was easter, I've greened-up an easter bunny ogre (The Feaster Bunny), and I'll have pics of both Father Gutmass and the Feaster Bunny up later today (hopefully).
If anyone else has any ideas, post them up and I'll see what I can do.
Future plans include a "Toof Fairy" Ogre - with a really big hammer and tiny wings!

Here are the Pics of Father Gutmass.
For those who didn't see/follow his orignal creation, al the parts for the sleigh came from a scraplauncher (just cut up and aligned in different ways). The bull had his legs chopped off and new greenstuff ones made, with the bull feet added back on the bottom to get the seated pose - a greenstuff hat topping him off.

These are the rules for fielding Father Gutmass in a game.
Father Gutmass in any battle fought between December 1st and December 25th of any year. He represents a Lord Choice and a Hero Choice. He must be fielded as presented; no other equipment can be bought for him.
Father Gutmass is a slaughtermaster. Father Gutmass, his Sleigh and his Rhinox are all magical creatures and their attacks count as magical. Like all ogres and rhinox, they cause fear.
Festive joy! - Father Gutmass is a creature of festive joy and feasting - his happy nature actually protects him from harm - he and his sleigh have a 4+ ward save.
Father Gutmass' Sleigh - the sleigh counts as a chariot, it can fly as described in the warhammer rulebook, pulled by its two rhinoxen. The sleigh and rhinox give Father Gutmass a 4+ armour save and counts as US6. Like a chariot, it inflicts D6 impact hits on a charge
Ho! Ho! Ho! - Father gutmass enters the game with the spells bullgorger, toothcracker and trollguts already in place. These can be dispelled as normal during the course of the game.
Seasons Greetings! Father Gutmass does not deploy in the deployment phase at the start of each ogre turn (including the first) roll a D6, on a 3+ Father Gutmass arrives he can enter from any board edge and may move, but cannot charge.
Santas Little Helpers Father Gutmass has an endless supply of tooth gnoblars, he can eat 1 for each spell. All his spells cast at +1 on the dice roll.
Ru and Dolph the red-horned rhinoxen - the rhinoxen are, like all their kind, bad-tempered (if they can charge, then they must - unless they pass an Ld check).
Presents for all! - All ogre units, friendly or otherwise, who have Father Gutmass in their LoS all try and act on their best behaviour in order to get his presents, those units can re-roll any failed panic or break tests.
ogre kingdoms (152 played) 132 W, 12 L, 8 D tomb kings (23 played) 17 W, 4 L, 2 D bretonnians (19 played) 14 W, 3 L, 2 D daemons (3 played) 3 W, 0 L 0 D

Here are the pics of the WIP on the Feaster Bunny ogre - I'll have to come up with some rules for fielding him as well
I folowed the tutorial for making an ogre without a gutplate. The basket is half a barrel and some chain from a scraplauncher kit (that I had left over from the father gutmass conversion) - filled with gnoblar heads (which will be painted as chocolate).
I intend to paint his bunny hat and pants white, and flock them with snow to give them a fluff feel
I have some easter eggs in the pipeline too - chopping down the "axe" head from the left hand ogre bull weapon (ta wifey!), leaves a nice egg-shaped lump.
an ideas for rules, let me know!
ogre kingdoms (152 played) 132 W, 12 L, 8 D tomb kings (23 played) 17 W, 4 L, 2 D bretonnians (19 played) 14 W, 3 L, 2 D daemons (3 played) 3 W, 0 L 0 D

How about a St Patrick's Day Ogre, like a Leprecaun? With a red beard and a green suit? And you can't forget Wee Willie Winkie, if you're going after children's figures.

Hey Wildcard, absolutely LOVE the idea, and love the models even more !!!! When I first heard of the idea, I thought that it might be terrible, and kinda silly... but now seeing them, and reading the rules, I'm a new-found believer in the outlandish ideas !!!!

The little puffball tail is my fav part on the Feaster Bunny. Father Gutmass is also quite nicely done, and I think you could use him as a bull rhinox rider easily too. Nice work, looking forward to more, especially the spooky Halloween one that you think up (pumpkin head ftw)!

I love the model (and name) of the Feaster Bunny, and it's great to see Father Gutmass make a reappearence! How about adapting some of the characters from alcie in wonderland, like a mad hatter ogre, or even a blue dress and apron wearing alice ogre?
Thanks Corai

Thanks for all the responses so far:
@hamrin - great call, the sandman is hereby added to the list of future models
@boss_salvage - a halloween model was also ticking away in the back of my mind and I've begun to gather bitz for it (skeleton here, bag of goodies there) and I've decided that the halloween ogre will be accompined by 2 gnoblars called Trick and Treat That one will have to wait until close to the end of October though.
@Ortac - a leprecaun model sounds like fun too, and also fits the criteria, let me push the idea around a bit and I'll see what my mind can come up with.
@Corai - thanks for the support! I'd considered the alice in wonderland characters, but figured one white rabbit was enough. I might do a tweedledum and tweedledee though.....
As far as the silliness of the idea goes - yep, its silly. That's the point. With over 10000 points of "serious" ogres, coupled with the fact I still love working with the ogre models, leaves me in the situation where I don't need to be getting any more ogres at all really. This lighthearted gnoblog is going to be a way for me to keep messing about with ogres now that the serious work of building a large ogre tribe is, bar the painting, done.
@bocbilot - my actual tribe, the deadeyes, is so far along that I'd feel a bit silly doing one now, but I guess I could pull together all the tribe's fluff and pics of the models if anyone was interested. I'll think about doing that, but it may have to wait. I can't see too ma people wating to see it though.
anyway, bocbilot - you've seen all my models IRL - often when they were demolishing your armies

How about a gnoblar in a chicken suit for yur feaster bunny? An ogre with a bed strapped to his back and a kid dragging behind, your average under the bed monster ... could accompany the sandman.

I think I'll try a homemade one this time - 6 forge world rhinox is enough. I have a spare scraplauncher rhinox hanging about so I'll be convert from that and an ogre bull. I may have to make an ogre-sized skull for him to carry.
another option would be to work on something I can pose better than a scraplauncher rhinox, as I think I'd like this one to be rearing-up....hmmm....I'm glad 31st of October is far away now, it'll give me time to plan this one out.

I've painted up the Feaster Bunny now, here he is in all his fluffy glory
I've used the foundation paints almost exclusivly on this model (exception: the metallics). Flocking the bunny suit with snow just works at a deep level
Now I just have to write the rules to field him and paint up some easter eggs to go on his base! Any rule ideas, let me know. I've been toying with him being ethereal (no one really sees him - despite him being 10 feet tall!) and able to leap about the table in bounds, dropping easter egg bombs
what do you think?

I don't think he should be ethereal. However, I would like to see rules along these lines: Boing! The Feaster Bunny is capable of great leaps that allow him to pass effortlessly over hampering terrain and escape from danger. The Feaster Bunny ignores difficult terrain, and has the Hit and Run special rule.
Thump, thump, thump! The Feaster Bunny has a sixth sense for danger and is able to warn others nearby of impending doom by thumping on the ground vigorously with his foot. Any Ogre within 10" gains a 6+ Ward Save, representing the chance that they are able to dodge the impending assault. However, Gnoblars within 12" of the Feaster Bunny have to take a panic check after the enemy's Move phase, as they are unnerved by the Bunny's portent of death, and try to run away from whatever's going to kill them.
2 Pet Gnoblars! I dub them Itchy and Scratchy, for reasons that are too private to divulge.

Hilarious and original . Easy to make into an actual O.K army (Father Gutmass a scraplauncher, feaster bunny a butcher, multiple toothfaries as yhettis, hell boy a gorger) but you are probably more interested in making up your own rules. An ambitious and also expensive project could be Dumbo the flying mammoth - perhaps made from LoTR Mumakil. the possibilities are endless

but the hulk would be too easy. The fantastic four could be an interesting conversion theme, the thing would be quite easy, but all the others would reprresent quite a challenge.

In the same vein, I saw a couple of great entries ion Golden Daemon last year. Both used Inquisitor scaled space marines and epic scaled space marines. One was a marine painting a toy soldier, the other was two marines playing a game of 40K. Something sikilar could well be achieved with the ogre models and the warmaster ogres, if you feel like it;)

ah...that'll be an age thing I'm afraid. Way back in the day (mid-80's) A series of rather gruesome bubblegum cards came out - I kind of nasty version of the cute "cabbage patch dolls" that were popular at the time. The "Garbage Pail Kids" were anything but cute, but were rather collectable/swappable and had cool pics such as:

inspiration - not a problem time - ah, now there an issue! I've got the eldar harlequin army to dice into properly after that (and learn to play 40k at the same time) and then sort 2000 points of skaven out.
time limits do mean one thing though - you learn to paint fast and plan all models in our head so you don't eat into actual modelling time.
with the limited time I get, the skaven might well have a new book before I get to them!

RIGHT - as I finished my tomb crons army a little earlier than planned, I decided last night to make a start on Project: Scraplauncher - and build 4 scrappies without using the scraplauncher kit
As a chasis for the models I've decided to go with the snotling pumpwagon - it looks ramshackle enough, is easier to construct than the scrappie and I had a couple of them just lying around from 2 years ago when they were my first painted models ever
I got another 2 back at gamesday too.
instead of stonethrowers I though of taking the scavenging nature of the gnoblars a little further and decided to use the empire hellstorm rocket/hellblaster volley gun kit for them - again a certain amount of cost saving was involved here as you can get both war machines out of each kit.
one thing I quickly discovered is that the scraplauncher rhinox would have to go - simply not enough room on a chariot base for everything. This is not something I'll miss as I don't really like the scrappie rhinox at all as a model.
next, I decided to grab a couple of sprues of gnoblar fighters to act as crew - I don't think I'll have more than 4 per scrappie however, that would seem to be enough to give a sense of general gnoblarness.
the hellstorm rockets have a good angle anyway, but for the hellblasters I decided to use the "mask" of the pumpwagon to angle the barrels skyward a little so that they wouldn't get confused with cannons. For one of my pumpwagons I couldn't find the "mask" the goes with it, so I decided to trim down an ogre standard a little (the iron face one with the horns and the skulls in its mouth) and use that instead.
and now we come to the big advantage of these scrappies over normal ones - I managed to get all 4 built in under 3 hours last night!
pics to follow shortly.
I just need to assemble some crew and spray things with chaos black and we'll be ready for painting

I haven't used anything so far - althouhg a couple of gnoblars pulling it might happen. I figured if the snotlings could make a chariot that moved by itself, so could teh gnoblars
besides, teh nasty looking spikes on teh front of the thing will make up for the rhinox horns IMO!

they look really strong but if you put them in a battle with something bigger than them they could possbilly lose.
It has a quility pait work i bet it took you a long time Thanks Coolman
I guess that I'm going to have to celebrate this promotion with another wacky model aren't I?
well, I must say that since I finished the Tomb Crons I've been in a bit of a slump with my painting - January has been a busy month and I ahven't been able to motivate myself properly to do anything.
However, I'm going to have to try and make a concerted effort to change that now and try and complete a 2000 point "weird house" army list as soon as I can manage it

The WHOWO re-opens!!
In the spirit of all the gnoblogs that are making a comeback I thought it was time for the Weird House to re-open its doors too. Since this isn't an "army" as such but rather a chance to have fun with some individual models it'll not impinge on my new cryx stuff or my other projects, but fit in around when I need to have a laugh
With that said - here's the change: I'm going to paint YOUR models this time!
That's right, I'll be starting a thread for anyone who wants to post me a model (any type, any army) and I'll "weird" it out in some way and post it back to you - posting pics of the process and results in this thread.
All you do is supply the model and post it to me - I'll paint it and post it back.
If you want to take part in this, and get your own "weird" model from wildcard, lookout for the thread and post up in it.

never seen a ninja - that's how good they are
Anyway - I'm been in discussion with Malekith today and decided to revisit Gutmass' special rules a little.
1) make him an army general (so can be used in smaller games than 3000 points) - this will mean he has to start on the board though.
2) have him change the army list.
here's the idea:
in a Gutmass army, yhetees are core choices (snowmen!!)
also, a new "walking in the air" special rule applies - all yhetees in a unit now skirmish rather than rank up and gain fly
I also want to give the army an "eye of the gutmass" take on the eye of the gods table from the chaos book - he can give them presents! (but they might also get strupid from looking at the gifts and not concentrating on what's going on around them). This would only apply to things that can be affected by gut magic though.
I'm going to give some yhetees hats, scarves, carrot noses and coal buttons too
what do you think??

You will have to ask him. Me personnaly I love the idea because it is such a festive army to do and a fun one as well. I would also like to see the new Gutmass rules.

rules wise I'd say keep yhetees core and make ironguts special ( iron and steel is cold in the snow and you just don't want to go there with all that armour) The fly/special is over the top for me (rules wise of course)
The "presents of father gutmass" is that list of course.
Why would you have to have father gutmass on the table if he is the general? Think of the beast special character.

true
the fly is, of course, over the top - but "the snowman" sung by aled jones is a staple of christmas here in the UK Flying snowmen are fine - I might make them all flammable as well though
moving ironguts to special is a great idea - I'll get the full rules worded and up later tonight (hopefully).

Now all we need is the 7th edition rule that said if the models are killed they don't get to fight and we WOULD be a broken army! lol

Bah, top hat is lame. If he is going to have a top hat, he needs the full penguin suit to go with it.

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.
And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.

Good luck with that, you should give him a cane.

you could do maneaters as cartoon charactures: speedy gutzales (c avatar) ogre bear (yogi bear) tom and Jerry (jerry as a gnoblar)

Disney Ogres could be quite good fun. Imagine it, My Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella and the Ugly Sisters or Aladin + the Genie in ogre form. You could even go with a Snow White theme, using the female ME for snow white convert, hunter for the huntsman convert and Gnoblars for the 7 Dwarves. That would be cool!
