Terrain. From my point of view
A river separated the board at about 1/3 of the table length. A patch of trees where set up in the bottom left side, and hill on the top left side at an angle, the river then another hill about 12 inches in from my opponents side and in the middle of the table. Then another set of trees on the far right side of the table about 14 inch in from my Opponent side.
Rogg and his Deathmaw tribe are still wandering looking for a nice new home away from Greasus Goldtooth. They have wondered into a land lush with thick trees and lots of wild game to hunt. Much better then the desert their former butcher had them stuck in. But not to enough fighting they have only come across a few small villages here and there.
As Rogg crest the hill he was climbing up he saw an army of wood elfs spread out waiting for them, with their tree allies, some of the villagers must have gotten away to spread the tales of his tribe were about. But this looks like fun he thought to himself, as he starts to bark out orders for his boys to spread out. Keeping three units of bulls with him and his maneaters and one of the two butchers. Next he sent the leadbelchers, rhinox riders, the other butcher and hunter to the right flank. The hunter had already sent his trappers ahead, dam little buggers didn’t report any of this fun.
Just as Rogg got his boys got into their positions the Wood Elf’s are started to move forward they seemed eager to play and Rogg wanted to play with their heads, their bones and anything else he could get his hands on be for he eat them. He could see a large group of elfs with bows climbing the far hill across from the river and shooting up some Trappers, a small size unit of trees where also moving straight towards them and some pretty tree women where holding on top of the large hill, as well as a shiny unit of elfs move up between the woods and the hill trying to hide cowards! A very large treeman was move to his right, that might give us some trouble, but the hunter Brok was over there and he was good at killing big things. These elf’s are funny there where also a group of elf’s jumping and dancing around on the right flank and ran right into a small group of Trappers who killed of one of them in a hail of broken metal and rocks. But the elfs just dance around and killed most of them and the rest of the trappers ran away, the elf’s dancing forward, lastly there where some skinny horse and riders not the big healthy horse of the humans but they look taste.
Well time to get LUNCH! He yelled out a bellow, to get on with it. The bulls, butcher and maneaters move forward, and then Rogg signaled for the right flank to move up. A small scouting unit of elfs appeared on the left flank and shoots at the closest unit of bulls who turn to deal with them, a handful of elfs will bows will be a nice snack! The trappers stopped running, maybe the have a small backbone. As Rogg look over at the butcher gobbling down trollguts he looks confused and Rogg didn’t feel the Great Maws protection as he normal does, dam it they may have a wizard or two with them.
The elfs move up slowly to Roggs disappointment he knows their small, but trappers can move that fast. At least the dancing elfs are moving fast as they charge the leadbelchers and the cowards fled but this leaves the elfs open for the rhinox riders to charge. And those skinny horses and elf riders charge the Brok the hunter and his cats, crazy, crazy elfs. They really want to be lunch. The elf riders manage to hit one of the cats and put as small mark on Brok, who just grins and smacks a rider and horse down with a blow and the cats take down another two. The elfs have guts though and stood their ground. The Elf’s Archer unit and scouts take aim at the closest bull unit and downs one bull. Well that’s ok he’ll go on the menu too.
The leadbecher keep running those cowards I’ll eat your gnoblars and more if I catch you!! Rogg bellowed at the fleeing unit. The Butcher smiles threw the pain as he slurps down some more trollgusts and Rogg and the maneaters can feel the protection of the great Maw! Now the Rhinox Riders slam into those dancing elfs throwing bodies high in the air everywhere, they killed all but one elf that ran screaming back towards the woods. The Trappers even got in on the act and pelted the elf’s archer unit on the hill downing a couple.
Now the elfs are moving all over the Archer unit moves forward a little and shoots at the same unit of bulls. A lone mage moves out of the unit to try and make it over to the main battle line. Their scout unit on the left flank falls back into the trees and fires at the same unit of bulls dropping one more. The unit of treemen charge one of the front units of bulls they drop one bull and the bulls attack back dropping one and smacking of good chucks of branchers and bark the rest of the units as they remained locked in combat. The unit of elfs moving up between the hill and woods charges the next unit of bulls. Rogg bellowers for the bulls to fall back so he can get into the action. The elfs move faster then he thought and charge right into Rogg and the Maneaters. (I try to bait and switch with the bulls and maneaters but I didn’t know the Elfs had a 5” movement.) The elf charge forward yelling for the eternal guard!!!!!! But Rogg bellow’s out even loader a challenge to the puny elf lord. Who moves out of his unit with a smile, sends Rogg into RAGE!! He would swallow this elfs liver before this was done!!! As the two met a small wood sprite jumps out from the wood elf and starts climbing all over Rogg as the elf lord slices into Rogg with two cuts. Rogg counter attacks but the dam little sprit is making it impossible to hit the elf. The rest of his guard attacks the maneaters but thanks to the protection of the great Maw they only take one small wound. Then the maneaters counter attack killing 5 elf’s with their great weapons. The maneaters hold their ground as the battle continues to rage.
The Leadbelchers rally, well maybe they’ll only lose their Gnoblars for fleeing. The hunter and butcher charge the large treeman, Brok the hunter does 2 wounds but the treeman is too much and slays him. The butcher flees with the treeman close behind him. The butcher with Rogg charges into the elf guard’s flank. And the rhinox riders line up to charge the tree women. The Trappers move up and try to pelt the lone mage with sharp stuff, but their not strong enough for throw their sharp stuff that far. The Butcher with Rogg swallows even more of the foul trollguts with a sickly smile and the Bulls fighting the unit of trees fall under the protection of the Great Maw! The elf lord attacks again but fails to land a blow even with the dam sprit climbing all over Rogg. Rogg counter attacks with two sick sounding thuds as the elf lord falls under Roggs tenderizer! And with the elf lord dead the sprit falls stunned as Rogg picks it up and swallows the sprit whole. The maneaters counter attack and kill off 4 or 5 more elfs they break and flee, Rogg orders them to pursue. The Bulls fighting the unit of trees fall to them.
With things looking bad the Dryads move on to the field of battle between the rhinox riders and the fleeing elf guard whom rally at the last moment to face the charging maneaters. With one treekin wounded the last two charges into the rallied unit of bulls but the bull’s hold. The archers turn to protect the mage and shoot the last of the Trappers. The scouts fire from the tree line and down the last bull.
Rogg seeing the end was near charges with his maneaters and butchers into the wounded guard. Even with the massive wounding to the unit it held its ground. The treekin and bulls give and take wounds with the treekin down to one man or tree in this case. The rhinox riders charge the tree women killing all but 1 who flees the rhinox riders follow after her and run straight into the besieged guard.
The wood elf’s guard try to fight back but the rhinox riders prove to much and are destroyed to the last man. The treekin does one more wound on the bulls but the fresh bulls cut the last one down.
With only a Treeman, Glade Guard and Waywatchers and a wizard left the wood elf conceded the game.
The game was closer then it sounds. When I messed up on my bait and switch things didn’t look good. Especially when my tyrant lost the first round of the challenge. But my bulls held in there. My opponent was too afraid of my rhinox riders to throw his tree man at them so that also help so did taking lots of dispel scrolls.
