Mad Lists

I have been looking at this section of the website and seen many a mad list. They include gnobbo hordes, rhinox riders en masse and 8 Gorgers in 2000pts. In this post, I was thinking we could make a collection of mad lists for people to immediately get some wacky ideas!

Maybe the one with 2 Rhinox in a 1k list(I'm just saying that, because that's mine )...

I thought up a quite deadly one (even more deadly the marcopolo's!) :

Bruiser, Handguns, Heavy Armour, Luck Gnobbo, 151pts

3 Bulls, Additional Hand Weapons, Bellower, 127pts

6 Rhinox Riders, Thunderlord, Ironfists, 696pts

998pts!

Now that would hurt!

   Here's a pretty good list to toss around.

Orc Big Boss with shield, light armor and great axe (Handles trappers/Gorger)     78 points

10 units of 20 Night Goblins with short bows and 3 Fanatics @135 each             1350 Points
(that's 200 short bows and 30 Fanatics to protect them..for a turn at least)

2 units of 11 Arrer Boyz @ 60 points each                                                        132 points
(That's another 22 arrows per turn)

4 Goblin Rock Lobbers @ 70 points each                                                          280 points
 (That's 4 stones each doing D6, str=4 wounds per hit. With no armor saves)

2 Goblin Doom Divers each doing D6 str=5 hits per turn with no armor saves     160 Points

                                                                                                                    2000 points

this one is illegal I'm afraid - you only have 1 rare slot and the max size for a rhinox unit is 3

It would be legal if it was taken as an Irongut army though.  Seeing as the Rhinox riders are Special Units in this army according to the WD.

My own

Here is another Mad List (which im planning to use as my main list for OK btw):



Deployment from left to right: Leadbelchers, Ironguts, Maneaters, Bull Rhinoxen Riders, Ironguts, Leadbelchers. The Gnoblars screen the Rhinoxen to prevent them from charging sacrifical units.

MADNESS GALORE!! (And yes im aware that its a bit uncompetitive, but I go after what I like and not whats competitive).

Here is another one. Hunter themed:


Pirates! YARR!! HO('es) HO('es) HO('es)  AND A BOTTLE OF RUM! Also with SIXTY trappers, this army will have 120 pieces of sharp stuff flying around... Lets adopt the IG's way of thinking: Well, they've got to fail those armour saves sometime!

Note: If you want to, you can take away the Pirates in exchange for even more Trappers. You can double the unit sizes of the Trappers and give the rest of the points on upping the unit size of the Bulls to 5.

And if you do that, youll have 240 dice to roll each shooting phase... now how many shots did it take to kill a unit of fully upgraded Chosen Chaos Knights with a Nurgle Lord in it again ? (serious question).

I kind of  of the hunters and trappers. I think I might drop the slayer pirates and go with maneaters with pistols, or maybe just a few gourgers and upgradethe rest of the trappers to bigger units

Could a MOD pin this topic for people to get wacky inspiration and to make the collection of Mad Lists without it falling onto page 2?

That would be great but you have to have a unit of bulls. Maybe make the unit of 10 a unit of 8 and add 3 naked bulls. That would rock!

The Characters go in a unit of maneaters each, and stay within 12" of each other.
The Bulls are compulsory, but there's surely a purpose they can be put to.
The Ironguts screen/go after weak units/soften up units before the Maneaters get in there.

And yes, I do like maneaters. Alot.

Also, Gozlag: I think five units of three Ironguts would be better.

Are Rhinox Riders 0-1?
If not, then why not a list with two units of Rhinox Riders fully upgraded (about a thousand points), a Tyrant (three hundred), some bulls (one hundred), a couple of units of Ironguts (about four hundred) and a butcher or two?

That is a deadly army Tartarus. 6 Maneaters would be argued a complete pointwaster but it could work. You should maybe split them into 3x4/4x3 units. That would make it a little easier and more seperate for charges and that.

The tactic would be to use the bulls to hold up and double team units and wait for the super Tenderiser gang to come and make mince meat of and opposing unit.

can only have 1 magic item per army except for common items

And characters can't form their own units.

He may intend to run them all seperately just it's quicker to type x3.

I would expect so, but as stated above, you can't have duplicate magic items (aside from scrolls) in an army so 4X Tenderizers is a big no-no

LOL I love that BoC list.. also isnt that 13 ambushing units? cant all those core units ambush? This reminds me of a 40k horde army.. and yes they do suck to move.. more so to remember what models belong to which unit is more difficult I would say instead.. considering you have 195 models spread over 13 units spread over 6 feet of table space.. very scary.. both to play and to play againest..

if i had  to play against that army i would make a square so nothing could get my rear or most flanks

Now that isn't so mad and pointless that you would lose. It may win!

That might actually work, I'm not sure... Certainly seems extreme...

i am not 100% sure, but I don't think you can use 2 copies of the same magic banner, and I am not sure you would ever want to use 2 copies of the Canibal totem even if you could... it would only benefit you against things on a chariot base. last, but not leasts, you only have 2 core choices.

if your opponent lets you do all that, it would certainly be entertaining, though.

1) It is illegal to use 2 copies of the same magic banner, and also, it´s pretty much accepted on this site that Ogre magic banners are mostly not worth their points. Drop both Cannibal totems and give one of the units the War Banner.
2) Drop the Champions on the Rhinox Riders: they ain´t needed and cost too much.
3) Use the spare points to invest in some Trappers. Also, the Bull units could use Bellowers and an extra model each. Drop the standard on the Bulls.
