My car was recently broken into and all of my magnetized ogre bits were stolen. Oddly enough, they left my army cases alone, so i have to find new ogre bits and start anew with my army.
For fluff purposes, my Tyrant Brutus has been killed by none other than Ghark Ironskin himself, so my tribe is switching allegiance and i'll be converting a Ghark model with lots of Rhinox Riders, Ironguts and Leadbelchers. After Brutus's death, the gnoblars of the Glacial Maw Tribe rebelled and left to prove their might to the rest of the old world, thus forming their own gnoblar horde army, which i will start a new gnoblog for eventually. Unfortunately, I currently have several projects that have to take precedence over my Ogres, so it'll be awhile until i can really start fixing them, but i'll be sure to post my progress. Until then, i will leave up the gnoblog in it's original form as a memoriam to all that i've lost.
The Fluff
Brutus used to be the Bruiser of his tribe, under Grog the Undefeated, until one day when he discovered Grog's plans to sell the tribe to the Skaven to become genetic test subjects for their chaotic experiments. Overcome with anger, and realizing that Grog's plan was far from fruitition, Brutus was determined to stop it before it had a chance to destroy his tribe. It was then that Brutus hastily challenged Grog to a duel. Brutus was far from ready for the challenge and Grog left him for dead at the bottom of a lake. Said lake was a ceremonial site for the tribe due to it's maw-like shape, His loss was secrety mourned by his tribe, who had respected and feared Brutus as the tribe's champion for decades. Soon after Grog's departure however, Yhetees, aware of Grog's plans, retrieved the nearly dead Brutus from the lake and nursed him back to health. Brutus remained with the Yhetees in their caves for several months. The Yhetees told Brutus of much of the Ogre's past, including a rumored Maw in the sea on the other side of the world. When he finally returned to claim his Tyranthood, he had developed a close bond with the Yhetees and learned of a great many of their secrets. As a gift to aid him in his quest to overthrow Grog, the Yhetees covered the end of Brutus' great weapon with ice using their magical breath, and pledged their devotion to his cause. Brutus donned blue and white warpaint in honor of the Yhetees for their help, and returned to challenge Grog for Tyranthood of his tribe.
To Brutus' horror, Grog was farther along with his plan than he had realized, and came to find that nearly half his tribe had gone "missing" overnight during a venture to conquer a neighboring tribe. Overwhelmed with rage, Brutus bellowed at Grog and charged out of the same lake his tribe had seen him drown in a month earlier. Grog froze in horror at the sight before him, not knowing how to interpret Brutus' apparent resurrection. Grog's sudden panic was exactly the edge Brutus needed and hit Grog with an upward swing of his great weapon in the chin, leaving shards of ice embedded in his face. The blow sent Grog reeling backward several yards, nearly knocking him unconscious. Brutus stood over the dazed tyrant with his great weapon held high and demanded to know what had happened to the rest of the tribe, and that he confess to the others. Grog shivered in cowardice, and believing Brutus' resurrection to be judgement from the Maw for his betrayal, confessed to the tribe his plans to betray them and the location and fate of those that went missing. Brutus looked down on him with a barely controlled rage, taking comfort in his triumph over the traitor... until Grog mentioned the coming army of Skaven that would be arriving shortly to take the rest of the tribe in it's weakened state. The tribe, upon hearing this confession, went into a frenzy. Grog was ripped apart with his kinsmen's bare hands, piece by piece. Brutus called for them to stop, and reached down to the broken, dying and limbless tyrant. He thrust his hand deep into Grog's chest, and pulled out his heart. Grog's last image was that of his former Bruiser heartily consuming his own heart. The tribe burst into celebration, which Brutus quickly quelled with a guttural holler.
"Get ready to fight! The rat-things are here!!!"
The tribe shifted it's focus to the mountain range to the west, and their glee was reduced to a quiver as they stood and gasped in horror at the horde emassing out of the caves. Skaven by the hundreds, possibly thousands, far more than the fledgling tribe could handle, poured from every crevice the mountains seemed to hold. Brutus could tell his kinsmen were panicking, and with a triumphant roar unlike anything the tribe had heard before, Brutus raised his great weapon, still coated in Grog's blood, and pointed it fearlessly towards the gathering horde. Then, to the bewildered tribe's amazement, a veritable sea of white fur and ice came down on either side of the ratmen army. The rat-men immediately broke into a panic as a nearly uncountable number of yhetees streaked towards their flanks, ice encrusted clubs held high. Brutus' tribe, renewed with awe and fervor, charged forward. The battle was over in a mere matter of minutes, the yhetees inflicting so many casualties on the unsuspecting skaven that it sent them fleeing back to wherever it was they had come from.
There was no doubt in any bull's mind, Brutus was now their tyrant. Risen from the dead out of the lake of their Almighty Maw, Brutus singlehandedly reduced their former tyrant, formerly undefeated in any contest, to a sniveling coward. He then repelled an entire army of Skaven by summoning a force of hundreds of yhetees, showing a connection with them no tyrant has ever had. From that moment on, the tribe has been known as the Glacial Maw Tribe, in honor of the lake of their Maw. Brutus came to be known as "The Blue Pheonix" due to his aquatic resurrection, however, due to time, illiteracy and bad ogre memory he is simply known as "Brutus the Blue". They revere him as a prophet and savior, and Yhetees as protectors and guardians, to whom they wear blue/white warpaint to honor. Brutus has vowed to take back as much of his tribe as possible from the tainted Skaven, and to crusade across the globe to find their holy land, the Great Maw of the Sea the Yhetees had spoken of.
The Models
Here is my Glacial Maw Tribe. Virtually every model in it is magnetized, with the exception of the Thunderlord and the Yhetees.
All of the models have magnets under their bases for wound counters, but i haven't finished painting the wound counters yet, so I'll post them later.
If you want to see any other pics of the army, here's the link:
