Just wondering

Would I be laughed out of the kingdoms if I did a completely (at least to my knowledge) original theme of the Ogre Carnival? I was thinking about making my ogres like a roaming carnival, and paint them up to look like horrific, fat clowns. Just a thought...what do you all think?

I say go for it!  I for one love original armies, and I think that if you execute it with a level of skill and creativity everyone will love it.  I mean, c'mon: there's a redneck ogre army and people dig it!

I'd love the idea . Having red noses and clown afros now that would be cool.
You'd have to have pretty good GS skills if they were to be converted good, i for one would not be able to pull it off, my GS skills are horrific lol.

I think that would be very cool indeed!
make sure to use the horror theme correctly and don't use too many bright colours. if you stick to natural browns and greys and just apply brightly colours for the details like noses and make-up, it'll be very nice.
I always liked the carnival of chaos from mordheim.

You could have gnoblar ( human ) cannon balls.

How about an evil butcher based on Stephen kings "IT"!!

The bearded lady ...female maneater.

A strong man bruiser with two handed weapon "dumb bells"

And a tyrant ring master.

Hunter lion tamer with whip and a chair.

I think it's a great idea. I was enertaining it myself before settling for chaos ogres. It's a very creepy concept if done right and I'll echo the sugestions if Vichor's above. I think gnoblar cannonballs in leadbelcher cannons it great, as is the llion tamer hunter!

Nice idea I was thinking of the yehtees and Slave Giant. Not that you would have to use them, but you could have the giant holding a large pole with a bundle attatched to it for his club but it would also say where the tent would come from. The yehtees could just be really big monkeys and you could give them little hats and jackets along with maybe a pair of symbols or two. those are just my thoughts.

Geeze, that's the... the... the single most brilliant thing I've ever heard of. Dammit! Why didn't I think of that!? Dammeht. I guess I'll just have to settle for making one of my IGuts units into some clowns.

I think it would be brilliant, and the Ogres have enough space for nice striped pants, red and white, so carny canes, tophats, what not.

Ahem, yeah... That is something I'd like to see myself aswell. ^^

Well, it is a great relief to see my idea accepted with such enthusiasm!  How can I not do it now?! I will ned lots of modelling clay though to get the shoes and hats down pat. I will have to improvise on some of the weaponry as well... any suggestions to make them will be greatly appreciated. Thank you brothers!

to make a standard jestors hat I'd dril three holes in the head and insert three lengths of wire to be the three parts of the hat. then culpt the Green Stuff around that.

For top hats, get some plastic rods at differant widths and cut one to length to be the hat part of a top hat. To make the brim, either cut a circelof GS or (peferabley) use a holepunch to punch a perfect;ly round hole from the plasticard. Glue them together and instant top hat!

3 yhetees done as "see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil" monkey poses would be cool

The Yhetee idea is cool! I was thinking about making the Scrappie a "ride". What fun is a Carny with no rides? Plus it is a little sadistic all the same. "Step right up! Step right up! Hey! You look like a brave gentleman! Only a gold piece for the ride of your life (right into the enemy)"!

I think I will paint some of the clubs that the Bulls are carrying as CCCs (Cotton Candy Clubs) and Strong Man clubs. I am going to stick to typical ogre skin and gore on the bodies, but the weapons, pants, hair and faces are going to be clowny.

But what am I supposed to do with the Ring Master? I was thinking about the top hat idea, but other than that I am not sure what coolness to put on him. I put him together before I came up with this idea, because I thought I was going to do typical ogres. He has the horned gut plate and the Big T.

I figured I would paint my Gnob Unit in clowny costumes and paint the shields up as targets. I need to figure out what to do with the IGs as well. I can't wait to paint the LBs! They are going to have clowny looking guns with Gnobo's poking out of them.

Here will be the role of each Ogre-type as I put this show together:

Tyrant: Ring Master (of course)
Slaughtermaster: Fortune Teller
Bruiser: Strong Man
Hunter: Tiger Tamer (painting the Sabres as white Tigers)
Butcher: Magician
Bulls/IGs: Clowns
Gnobos: "Carnies"
Trappers: Knife Throwers/Jugglers/Fire-Eaters
LBs: Gnob-Cannonball Launchers
Yhetees: Monkeys
Scrappie: The Ride
Maneater: The Bearded Lady, She-male
Slavegiant: The Tent Propper
Gorger: Just freaks I guess...

Yeah, that was what I was thinking as well. Question is, what can I do to them to make them specific to a Carnival? I dont want to paint them in carnival colors, because that wouldn't make sense. People at carnivals just go to see the freaks, they dont necessarily have anything going for them, other than the fact that they are freaks. Maybe just some kind of chains or something perhaps?

That is a shame I think it is a great idea.

Why not start of painting a normal unit of bulls as clowns ( stripy leggings and face paint ) start simple and do a bit at a time.

Also look at various toy ranges for components. E.G. lego,rubber toys (like the rhinoxs many of use ) pre - school plastic toys , cheap "1 / $1 " store toys.

 Even if you pay a buck for a toy you will only use a hat from etc if it makes a finished figure look that bit special.

This would reduce the any sculpting you needed to do,Bar where the toy bit meets the ogre.
