So we did most of another depressing game today. This time...depressing for the Dwarves. The lists:
Dwarves
5 units of 30+ Thunderers
1 unit of 60+ Hammerers
2 Gyro bombers
3 Gyro Copters
2 cannons w/ runes
2 organ guns w/ runes
Anvil
A few other special chars
2 units of 30+ longbeards
Warriors:
6 Skullcrushers
40 Warriors of Khorne
20 Chosen of Khorne
2 Cannons of Khorne (can't remember the name)
1 Warshrine of Khorne
A few Khorne Characters
Khorne daemon core
Ogres:
13 IG w/ Dragonhide banner
30 Gnoblar Trappers
BSB w/ Ironcurse and Talis of Preservation
SM w/ Glittering scales, crown of Command, Fencer's blades
2 Firebellies, 1 with Ruby ring other with Forbidden rod
Tyrant w/ Thundermace
4 Rhinox Riders
1 Ironblaster
2 Gorgers
Rules in place: Alternating phases, Formation rules from Warthrone (Ogres needing 2 wide to be in column instead of 3)
Started off like a normal game. My side went first and moved forward. We had a set of Realmgates on the field, on in each deployment zone. Gnoblars and Khorne deamons moved through and lost a few, being right behind the dwarves. Dwarves decided to not react. Magic phase did nothing, shooting phase most of the Daemon core died, and a few ogres died. Not much else.
Turn 2 shit started happening. Gnoblars, Rhinox cav, and the 8 remaining daemon core charged 3 different units of thunderers, with the Gnobs and daemons in the rears. Rest of our army moved forward and a gorger showed behind the cannons. Gyros started bombing things in the movement phase. Again, magic did nothing even with the forbidden rod, and in the shooting phase we killed the flame cannon. He tried to kill his organ guns, but managed 3 overall hits between the pair. Then...combat happened.
Rhinox cav made the thunderers evaporate, like they should. Then they overran into another unit of thunderers, and killed them in the following combat phase. The 8 Daemons somehow didn't die, and forced the dwarves to run, and they were promptly caught. The biggest upset...Gnoblars did no wounds. He killed one. Lost combat. Failed his test and reroll. I chase 3"....and catch him. At this point, we were sad for him.
Turn 3, he finally goes first, moving forward and running like a proper dwarf. His Longbeards ran through the Gate, surviving mostly. My gnoblars tried to chase, but lost too many and ran away. Other than that, more bombings and the Skull crushers charged the other unit of Long beards, running through a river of Light and getting the 6th spell. Magic, still not being a thing, did nothing. Shooting for both of us did nothing other than a few warrior deaths. Combat, the skull crushers destroy the dwarves and run into the Hammerers. Second combat phase, a ton of hammerers die and his lord takes a few wounds. 2 of the skull crushers fall in exchange, but dwarves still lose combat, only able to stay due to stubborn.
On tuesday we will finish this game, but Dwarves currently only have 100 points...
