Autumn Forest Basing

original thread ↗

I'm looking for some feedback on some ideas I've put to trial. Here are some test bases I made the other day:

The bases are a bit scarce of wood but I made do with what I had at the time.

Then I bought some really cheap model train trees on the net, chopped up a few & blue-tac'd stuff into place to get a rough idea of how infantry units would look.

Below are some inspirational pictures I found on the net (unfortunately I can't find oranger leaves):

(I don't own these latter two images).

I've decided against using tree canopies as they'll just obscure the unit, and will just use trunks, fallen branches & leaves to capture the effect I'm after.

Let me know your thoughts on what works/doesn't work.

Cheers,
Farmer

They look awesome at the minute - can't wait to see the finished bases! :)

After all, painting 100 night goblins is something you do in the morning just before you are off to work.

And I think you missed a 0 when you wrote 11 armies. The correct nr should be 110 armies I would think, based on your painting speed.
Holy crap, they look brilliant to me. If you get confident with how you make these bases, I'm sure we'd all love a little tutorial on how to do it, if you're up for that.

Have a Gnoblar for your work so far though!
Those bases looked beautiful. I agree with Wacko, please do some sort of tutorial. I'm still struggling with bases.
Cheers guys, I'm glad they've created some positive attention.

I'm trying to score a decent autumn forest theme but have realized that it's a bit more technical than I thought. I want to create a nice balance of trees to create the atmosphere of a forest whilst blocking as little of the unit's details as possible.

I'll get a tutorial up for sure once I've decided on a simple production method. I plan on doing shed loads of these for my VC I'm starting up shortly.
