Battleplans - bringing some balance to AoS?

Reading that, they appear to be campaign scenarios, but it states you can use them as a template for other battles with different forces. If they're good I'd probably favour playing these over just the base game...

Given how different the game is to WFB, from game rules to model stats, it's quite difficult at the moment to eyeball a balanced game without a points system - more guidance from GW would be welcome.
