trickster's helm vs dark elves

original thread ↗

So.. i was thinking like this..
Dark elves got that reroll ones to wound, how would that work against the trickster's helmet as you can't reroll a reroll?
sorry if this have been asked before, did a search and nothing came up.
Trickster's Helms forces the opponent to re-roll successful wounds.

Dark Elves' Murderous Prowess rule lets them re-roll rolls of 1 to wound, which is always a failure.

Say a DE gets 3 hits on a helmed ogre. All hit because of re-rolls , then they roll a 5, 6, and a 1 to wound. All the successful wounds are re-rolled, and the 1 is re-rolled. All the re-roll results are the final number of wounds. As you said, you can't re-roll a re-roll :)
You only reroll the dice once - if multiple places tell you to reroll various dice, you roll, see which dice need to be rerolled, and roll those dice again. If the combination of rules results in you rerolling every dice, well, you only roll once. If multiple rules say you need to reroll a dice (say, they have ASF + higher init and Harmonic convergence on and roll a 1), you still only get one reroll.

This applies to everything, to hit rolls, ward saves (Other trickster's shard vs tzeench rerolls), wounds, etc etc.

Examples:

Dark elves reroll ones attacking a character equiped with the trickster's helm.

If they wound on a 2+, there is no reroll - you make them reroll 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and their murderous prowess allows them to reroll ones. Since every since possible result needs a reroll, there is no reroll.

But, if they wound on anything else, they have to roll twice. Say they wound on a 4+. If they roll a 4, 5, or 6, trickster's helm forces a reroll. If they roll a 1, they reroll due to murderous prowess. If they roll a 2 or a 3, they fail to wound and those dice stand as rolled.

Does that make sense?
Thank you both! :)
i was kinda thinking along those lines, but its nice to get it confirmed  :D
Was planing to use trickster's helmet and 4+ wardsave on my SM :)

thx again guys!
There is a FAQ somewhere to the main rules (that I don't have atm) that addresses conflicting reroll special rule that says something along the line of them canceling out and that the original rolls are applied without rerolls.  I don't know if that would apply here.

Was thinking about running Tricksters Helm vs Red Fury Vampires too and assumed something like this would come up; any idea where the FAQ is, for future consideration?

The line of consequence in the FAQ relates to situations like the first example in my earlier post.

You have a rule that says 'enemy must reroll all successful hits' and I have 'I reroll all misses', these two rules cancel out (I mean, I suppose you could roll the dice twice, but the first roll will have absolutely no effect since you're going to pick them up and roll it again)
