2000pts for Triumph Treasures (without cards and money)

original thread ↗

Dear Tyrants! This is my first post.

I'm new to Ogre Kingdoms, have been playing Tomb Kings in 2 years.
I've played a few battles with OK and I enjoyed them, tho if I lost!

Ok I made an army list for tomorrow (note, not just for TT, it is for overall like I'm needing tips).
I'll be faced against Lizardmen and Dwarves this time.

Lords (370)
Slaughtermaster
 - Ironfist
 - Dispel Scrolls
 - Armour of Destiny
 - Lv 4, LotGM

Heroes (302)
Bruiser
 - BSB
 - Heavy Armour
 - Ironfist

Firebelly
 - Great Weapon
 - Lv 2, Fire

Core (570)
6x Ironguts
 - Musician
 - Standard
 - Dragonhide Banner
 - Lookout-Gnoblar

6x Bulls
 - Full Command
 - Ironfist
 - Lookout-Gnoblar

Special (424)
3x Leadbelchers

4x Mourfang Cavalry
 - Heavy Armour
 - Ironfist
 - Musician
 - Stanard
 - Gleaming Pennant

Rare (340)
2x Ironblasters

Slaughtermaster will join unit of IG, he will be in middle (he has enought good AS, Wardsave and healing by attribute)

Firebelly and Bruiser joins unit of Bulls and they will be on second rank. Of course I'll make sure the BSB isn't too away from IG to make a breaktest and so on.

Mourfang Cavalry uhm, 4x maybe is good and flanking on enemy, with Gleaming Pennent is good to reroll failed LD test so we don't waste on them, honestly I don't know but I guess it's good.

Sorry if my English is mess but hope you still understood me!

Any though?
Reply and I'll be appreciated it!

Best regards
Tyrant, stubborn Ironmeat of The Ironmeat Tribe!
Might want to swap the firebelly for a level 1 butcher with lore of the great maw, so you can take Heavens on your Slaughtermaster. LotGM might seem good, but the ranges of the spells are too short.

I'd get the BSB a ward save, preferably Talisman of Preservation and maybe enchanted shield. Though you probably want to take GW for some S7 attacks.

Change Ironguts standard to standard of Discipline for a LD9 general. Dragonhide is (I think) too many points spent on just a flag. You can get the same effects from Harmonic Convergence anyway.

Bulls are fine, could drop out the Look-Out Gnoblar if you don't put any characters in there. I don't think LOG's are too important, then again I haven't played against Dwarven cannons.

Might want to find the points for a bellower on the leadbelchers. This allows you to swift reform + shoot in the same turn. Also give +1 to LD when rallying. Musicians are the best upgrades units can get.

Could be good to split your mournfang into 2 units of 2 with heavy armour + ironfists. Also take musicians (or bellowers really). 2 mournfang still pack a punch and you can combo charge with them if you need 4 against a single unit. I started playing them in units of 2 after my unit of 4 got redirected around for the entire game and never got into combat.

Ironblasters are cannons, so they are good. Also decent at fighting. Don't forget about Massive (G)rapeshot.
Beaten too it!  :D

First your English is fine; don't worry about it.

My first thought was "Heavens" on the Slaughtermaster and take a Butcher for LotGM.

I would drop them Mournfang down to a unit of 3, or two units of 2. If your going with Dragonhide banner then I would put it with them, not the Ironguts.

If you drop a Mournfang then use them points for more 'Leadies! They are also Ogres after all so do what an ogre can do; but with a bloody big gun.

I hate Dwarfs the whole gun-line thing really annoys me. I would want to either be up in their face as soon as possible, or just put a unit or two of Gnoblars in their way whilst either Maneaters, Mournfang or Sabre tusks try and out flank them.

Speaking of which; no sabretusks? I would certainly consider adding a couple of singles (2 independent kitties) in to the list if you can; they have always done me proud.

Ogre (Bulls) unit is sound...lose the look-out-Gnoblar as already said by Jomppexx; I cant see the point.

You could consider switching the Mournfang to Maneaters. They may turn out to be cheaper and do the same job.

Anyway, its something to think about. Will the Lizardman player being going with loads of Skinks do you know? Just wondering if you know the lists of your opponents yet or if you find them out on the day?

G_H
Thanks Jomppexx and Gnoblar_Herder!

This really helped me!

Now I'm needing to ask you where do I have to put characters in? I've dropped Look-Out Gnoblars on Bulls and so on. This is how the list looks now:

Slaughtermaster lv 4 Heaven
 - Great Weapon
 - same magic items above

Bruisers
 - BSB
 - Talisman of Preservation
 - Enchanted Shield

Butcher lv 1 LotGM
 - Great Weapon (should I take this weapon?)

6x Bulls FC Ironfist without Look-Out Gnoblar
6x Ironguts FC with Standard of Discipline and Look-Out Gnoblar

5x Leadbelchers with bellower

3x Mourfang Cavalry bellowers with heavy and ironfist (second option is to have splited 2x 2 mourfangs and then Leadbelchers have to drop two men)

2x Ironblaster

1989/2000 pts , 11 pts slot so anymore?

I would happy to take Maneaters but problem is that I don't have the models yet, also sabetusk :-(

Like I said where do I have to put my characters in the units? How would you take characters as in front or second rank, IG and Bulls' wide rank is 3 with full command is what I've been planning.
By the way, Standard of Discipline on IG does work to inspire to near units with LD 9? I must have missed some rules ;-)

Gnoblar Herder, I suspect that Lizardmen will have 2 units of 10 skinks, saurus, temple guards and some dinosaurs and slann. I just have to show them how dangerous ogres are!

Cheers!
With that 11 points spare, I'd suggest maybe dropping a champion from your Bulls or Ironguts, and using the 21 points total to get a Sabretusk. Much more useful than another single attack, in my opinion. :)
I would drop the second caster and just take the Maw.  Dwarfs and Lizardmen will have excellent magic defense.  Here is what you will probably see from the dwarf gun line:
-at least 1 flaming artillery piece to deal with Regen, and 3 other warmachines, so the Ironcurse Icon is your friend, and to a lesser extent the 2++ flame ward items
-gyrocopters to chaff and annoy you
-a couple of runesmiths for the rune of spell breaking and armor piercing
-Stubborn Banner (gives all units within 12" stubborn so they can tarpit you with a tank character and other small anvil units)

If he is smart, he will probably sit back and target whomever gets closest to threaten his warmachines, waiting while you and the Lizardmen weaken each other.
Sorry that I didn't check last replies. I've finished playing TT (free for all) against Lizardmen and Wood Elves tonight (first he told me that he'll take Dwarves but changed to WE). I won at turn 4 with about 1000pts, Lizardmen got 400 (too unlucky) and Wood Elves got 700 pts.

Lizardmen got two units of 10 skinks, 40x saurus, 10 temple guards with Slann, three dinnosaurs (dont know their name..) and I killed off two dinnosaurs and an unit of skinks. Temple Guards got only 4 left with Slann but the time was running out at late evening.

Wood Elves got a treeman, 20x eternal guards, some massive of archer units, two ambusher units, scouts and 5 wizard cavalries, I'm sorry that I'm not so good at remembering names.. Killed one of scout units with 10 men.

I got Slaughtermaster lv 4 heaven, BSB Bruiser, Butcher lv 1, 6x Bulls, 6x IG, 3x Mourfangs, 5x Belchers, 2x Ironblasters.

Great evening it was!

My record is 1-1-0  :D

Thanks all for replies, I got some to learn my homework!
